    Jake, another Fiido great review. Fiido seems to have hit a sweet spot with its smaller bikes. They seem well built and great to place in trunk/boot. I’m in the U. S. And hope to see them on sale either on Amazon or Wal Mart. Keep up the good work.

    Is it uk legal I thought that that non pedal mode was only allowed to go about 6 km/h If the rider is rolling - but not pedalling - faster than 6km/h, the throttle cuts off. If the cyclist pedals at the same time then the throttle can still assist up to the general limit of 15.5mph.

    I’ve bought this bike recently. I only tried it indoors. My question is when I start pedaling on level 1, after a while el. engine launches and accelerates the bike. However when I stop pedaling the engine keeps accelerating (without using a throttle). In order to quit engine support I have to press the break. Is that normal that after stopping paddling the engine keeps on going?

M1 kasi pwede sa offroad and trails kasi makapal ang mga gulong nya at full suspension pa, both front and rear. Kaya ito din dahilan kaya mabigat. Ang folding bike kasi, normally ay for intermodal use.. ibig sabihin, magbike ka, tapos commute, tapos bike ulit.. yung D4S, medyo magaan. • @Creevster
      @Creevster Před 2 lety +4

      It's very easy to remove the speed limit on this bike, it's only a soft lock (not Hardware locked). Once you do it goes about 33-35km/h depending on weight of rider, and the power is a little better. It carries me up steeper hills than the one he showed, but I weigh only 79kg and the hills I climb are all roads so I guess it's easier than uneven rough mud and grass etc. It's a great bike, but if you buy one replace the seat with something more comfortable. I got a big seat with huge springs for it. A major negative about this bike is the lack of suspension. The previous model had a shock absorber, but this one doesn't. But this one is still way better than the other models for several reasons. 1.It has gears 2. It has a 10.4ah battery and the old ones have 7.6ah batteries. 3. Bigger wheels, I used the old 14 and 16 inch ones for 12 months they were ok but not against curbs, you Vs curb, the curb wins. With this model the 20 inch is just better, plus for average hight or taller people the 20 inch wheels allow for a better ride with more clearance from the ground. 4. The LCD display is way better on this model than any of the older ones. The old ones aren't even LCD even though they are advertised as being so. 5. Despite the added gears, and bigger wheels this bike is only about 1kg heavier than the old ones which has a negligible effect on speed and acceleration. 5. This bikes throttle is still built into the grip. With the newer models (d11 and M1) which cost about 1k each, they have a a terribly cheap thumb button and it gets impeded by the gear switch which is a terrible design. I've spent a while looking at all of them out there and right now, the Fiido d4s is still the best value for money with the best design. If it had shocks it would be incredible.
      Cons in a nutshell:
      No suspension or shocks
      No tail light (but has a nice front light)
      No built in usb charge port for phones etc (they had this on a limited amount of upgraded d1's)
      The built in horn sounds horrendous, but this can be changed with a bit of DIY.
      The seat is actually high quality. It's ok. But for next to nothing I bought a bigger one with tons of padding and huge springs to compensate for the lack of suspension. (The ones it comes with have springs but they don't work as well as on the bigger seat I bought)
      But you won't find another one with a 10.4ah, gears, 20" wheels for this price. (Buy it from gearbest and if you have a borderless account like Monzo or Wise, set the price to us dollars and pay in us, it will work out way cheaper than this guys links, roughly 480-500 GBP.)
      * To remove the speed limit on these bikes, switch it off, then hold down both brakes and twist the throttle (not as hard as it sounds) then hold the power on button down until you see "E08" appear on the LCD, keep holding it for 5 more seconds after you see that then you can let go of everything. The bike is now unlimited. Repeat the actions to limit it again.
      Hope this helps you decide if you want one. Im not associated with any of these companies but I do love the bike.

    • @dejedejsson
      @dejedejsson Před 2 lety

      thank you, but most of what you mention I know.
      I'm more interested in the Ado a20, but it also has its disadvantages, such as that you only get a pedal assist up to 15 km.
      I have read that Fiido rusts, I thought most of it was built in aluminum?
      but what really makes me hesitant to buy a china bike is the lack of support if something breaks, especially about problems with electronics

    • @Creevster
      @Creevster Před 2 lety +2

      @@dejedejsson After having the bike for a year, the chain rusts, and a few of the pins rusted (i.e the pins in the clamps to fold the bike, but this did not affect the functionality of the bike) the chain rusting hasn't bothered me, all my bikes have rusted at the chain before. But the rusted pins don't look nice, so it will require some anti rust with a ear cleaner or something to protect them (or paint them/spray them before you use the bike)
      Nothing else on the bike has rusted, the brake discs still look perfect and the body/frame is fine.
      The parts for Fiido are generally available. But I wouldn't even worry about that I was you, you can always buy parts even if they are theird party. With the d4s, the wheels are 20inch, which is very typical for kids bikes. So you can get new tires really easily. I didn't even buy the official mud guards for this bike because they are a rip off. I bought random 20inch guards on Amazon that look better quality. I also took the bike to a bike shop to have the brakes adjusted and the bike serviced, although they had never seen this bike before it was no problem for them to work on it. In my opinion you will have a harder time getting parts for anything that's not fiido, as the Fiido company has made a name for itself, has a catalogue of bike models and still manufacturers parts.
      I havnt done a battery change yet as it still performans like it did on day one, but I am not worried about when that day comes because the batteries all use 18650's which are manufactured like crazy.
      The ado a20 also looks like a good option, I had considered it too. But the motor is 350w, which can be a positive or a con depending on how you see it. It's more powerful, yet the battery is the same. Same power, same capacity, but a more demanding motor? Makes me question how long it lasts in comparison. It also weighs quite a considerable amount more at 24kg which will affect total distance you can achieve and battery discharge rates.
      For those reasons I went with the fiido d4s. But if you see the 350w as a positive and prefer the style of the a20, I wouldn't say it's a bad option to go for at all. The ado also has a quick release removable battery and can be charged whilsts out of the bike which is awesome. It has front suspension which might explain the weight difference. But here's a real negative about that suspension, it drops too low and hits the front wheel. I've seen it on a few different review videos. If the suspension worked properly on that bike I'd probably have one of them instead of the d4s. The forks touching the wheel when you hit a bump is not good.

      Perhaps you could try Ali Express? I have the Fiido d2s and recently contacted a Fiido website asking about spare parts (light/horn and larger battery) and they were of no help so I found a replacement Wuxing light on Aliexpress, which appears the same as the one on the bike. They have some throttles on there made by Wuxing, which look very similar to the ones on the bikes. The thumb throttle looks like the one on Fiido M1 and the half twist throttle looks like the one on the d series. No idea if they are compatible with controller but I'm sure something on there will be.
      It's a shame the customer support is so poor at present as the bikes themselves are amazing for the price.

    Please be advised that the Fiido D4S does not conform to EU and Spanish Pedelec law.
    Why?Bikes like this and others that have twist accelerator that may maintain speed without pedal assist are classified as mopeds-moto, which require driving licence and insurance. Police are fining heavily users of non compliant Pedelec ebikes. Be warned I was fined.

    Fiido's pedal assist is the worst I've ever seen! It's not pedal assist actually, it just detects that you are pedaling (after quite some time actually because it's very slow) and it just gives full power!! no matter what assist gear/mode you 're on.. assist gears/modes only define different cut-off speeds for the motor so it stops when you reach that speed.. just awful!
