    So we use ‘over’ when an object is stand still and not moving, is it correct?
    Please clarify! Thank you! ❤

    • @PastTenseofBanana
      @PastTenseofBanana  Před měsícem

      No. It doesn't matter whether the object is moving or not. The key thing is a the direct vertical line. In the video, if the bird suddenly stopped flying in mid-air while in a straight vertical line higher than the tree, the bird would still be over the tree. Equally, the mole would be under the tree if it was in a direct vertical line at a lower height than the tree. Movement is not important. Position is all that matters.

    Please tell me if I make any wrong answer
    Below Vs beneath Vs under
    1 i am sitting under the tree
    I have used under because I am not being touched by tree
    2 a mouse was hidden beneath my quilt
    I have use beneath because mouse is being touched by my quilt

    • @PastTenseofBanana
      @PastTenseofBanana  Před 5 lety +1

      1
      If you use 'under' there is a direct vertical line between you and the tree (1:56 minute in the video) You and the tree do not have to be touching. If you are in physical contact with the tree or you are VERY close to the tree then you would say 'underneath'.
      2
      You would use beneath to indicate that the quilt covers an area and that the mouse is under any part of that quilt area. The mouse and quilt do not have to be touching.
      I hope that helps.

      Top and Bottom don't tell us where something is in relation to another object. Top tells us that one object to near to the upper limit of the space it could occupy. Bottom tells us the opposite.

    is it true?if yes,jack is directly under the tree。so how to explain this?

    • @PastTenseofBanana
      @PastTenseofBanana  Před 4 lety

      Thanks for your question. While jack is on the ground he is below the tree. As he walks under the branches or the green of the tree, then there is a part of the tree that is directly above him, so we say he is 'under the tree'. The ENTIRE tree doesn't need to be over Jack for him to be under the tree. If there is just one part of the tree over Jack, then Jack is under the tree. I hope that helps.
