Thank you!!!! I couldn’t get my motor started and then after watching your video I discovered that I had the fuel valve shut. I was about to take it to the shop for repair. All that I needed to do was open the fuel valve. Thank you!!!!!!!
I had brand new one, wouldn’t start until I removed fuel shut off and re-seated so the “key/handle” actually turned the valve to open. Then ran like a champ.
Just picked up one of these from Mariner, looks identical. Cleaned the carb, checked for spark but cant get it to start (its not in water though) is it possible to put a drill on somehow so dont have to pull?
possible if you take the tank off and put a drill on the flywheel nut ,do you have a spark take the spark plug out and touch it on the engine then pull the starter cord and you should see a spark
@@MrMeltedwellies Thanks Mark. Turned out I had a spark but that safety starting clip you push in between is maybe just too thin, so will need to fix that. If i push against it, the engine will turn off. Is there a trick to it? I changed the oil, the impeller, the shifting lever (was stuck) and got a new carb which should make it a 5 HP. Running smooth now, just need to fix that safety switch

do not run your motor out of water, it will burn up the impeller.

just forward and neutral ,neutral to start

yes, but you should never do it because the impeller needs water as lubrication/to keep it cool (the boats water pump basically)
I would add a fuel filter on this tube before the carb.

I bought the K&N and adding tomorrow. There are many low star reviews that share problems that would be fixed with a fuel filter.
