- We are often asked how we maintain our historic printing presses in our print shop exhibit at the Sacramento History Museum. In this video, Howard demonstrates what is needed to keep our Washington hand press working properly the same way it operated 170 years ago.
Our Washington hand press was manufactured in 1852 by the Charles Foster & Brother Company in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Fascinating that machinery has evolved so much but this is still very modern.
I completely agree with you, this kind of machinery is excellent!
I love the sound of the squeaky creaky wooden floors when he walks.
I agree 100%, it reminds me of the house I grew up in.
It’s really enjoyable to listen to and gives a great background sound as well!
Very informative. 👍
Thank you Howard 👌🙏
Ive always wondered how you kept it running, love the video!
Coming from an old machinist that's a very nice machine, I mean press. A little preventive maintenance and a machine will last more than a lifetime. Thanks for the education.
Fantastic equipment! Thank for sharing this knowledge with the world.
Thank you for sharing about the maintenance required.
These videos are so enjoyable, thank you Howard for another excellent example of that!

I would listen to this man talking for hours
He truly is great!
Anyone else’s ADD memory of the Silly Symphonies cartoon of ‘Ben and Me’ theme song whistling pop in your head when one of these shorts show up in your feed? “Ooooh, Amos”…Just me?
Neat! :>
Thanks a lot for your explanation. 🥰
Impresionante el conocimiento de este señor !!!!
My grandfather ran a printing shop in joplin missouri for awhile and he spoke about setting the letters

Good idea!
I will be forever grateful to you, you changed my entire life and will continue to preach on your behalf for the whole world to hear how you saved me from huge financial debt with just a small investment, thank you Mrs Amada Bernardin
wow.. amazing to see others who trade with Mrs Amada Bernardin, i'm currently on my 5th trade with her and my portfolio has grown tremendously.
I invest with Mrs Amada Bernardin too, she charges a 15% commission on profit made after every trading session which is fair compare to the effort she put in to make huge profits.
this is not the first time am hearing of Mrs Amada Bernardin and her exploits in the trading world but i have no idea how to reach her.
As a first time investor i started trading with her, with just a thousand bucks. my portfolio is worth much more that now within just weeks of trading with her.
With the consistent weekly profits I'm getting investing with Mrs Amada, there's no doubt she is the most reliable in the market. such a genius
Its impressive to see how old machinery still works to this day (with maintanance like this, pretty simple and straightforward) and yet you buy yourself a new TV or phone, fridge, ... these days and it needs replacement after only 3, 4 to 7 years of use.
This kind of technology is truly amazing isn’t it!
What Ever You Do Harold, DON'T OIL The Squeaky Floor Boards. It Would TAKE AWAY From The Charm Of The Place...
