Hey there...just a thank you for posting this video...just added transmission fluid...and no slipping or bumping...ur awesome !!! Took the rodeo to a mechanic shop and they said the transmission was self contained...guess I'll not go there again...lol
Thank you for explaining how to do it. I just bought a 2001 rodeo.
Your Rodeo sounds just like mine😆 people think it's a diesel engine 😑
Thank you for the video it helped me tremendously
A video it was very helpful do you know what size the bolt is that you took out not the head but the threds
As it seems with most of the V6 Isuzu motors, I can hear the telltale ticking of a lifter or two. Next oil change try adding a qt of Marvels mystery oil. It's cured both a Trooper & Rodeo of mine of that lifter tick.
Agree with this. Before I do that I pull a vacuum line to intake and siphon about 3/4 of can of sea Foam. Let sit appx 15 min and run until no more smoke. This is probably the best treatment you can do to any engine as it burns all the carbon off valves, pistons, etc. don't be scared of the smoke. Then add marvels and viola! El ticky gonnay!
@@MeatsackMiracle mines been sitting about 8 months so gotta try that combo. Motor wasn’t ticking before so we”ll see.
Great video! But what the size to the accumulator piston o ring?
Thank You.. For informative video... :-)
So what did you used to check the trans temp? Okay I could not hear what you said as to what you were using to check the trans temp.
There is a procedure... with fill removed, put transmission thru shifter one at a time, until returning to park, then see if full.
I appreciate it thank you
Would this be the same for a 98 Rodeo?
I have an isuzu rodeo 2000 3.2 standard, do you know what oil the standard transmission carries?
usually 80 to 90 weight gear oil
@@DNRailworks Noooooo
Hey do you ever plan on doin the pan and filter? I’m having issues with the 2 bolts right up on the crossmember
Funny you should ask! I actually just did that job last weekend. I'm working on editing the footage now and hope to have it updated this weekend.
Unfortunately, I don't see a way to get to the bolts you reference without actually removing the crossmember. I took the crossmember out before removing the pan. It's really an infuriating design.
Transmission fluid and filter replacement video is now posted!

I think you forgot to go through all the gears and return to park before you check the fluid level.
What a terrible design.
I changed the radiator and now have an ordeal because some engineers have no common sense.
Thank you for the video.
Yes, horrible design and horrible tranission also.
Same here!! Lmao
mine sound like a diesel,is an Isuzu Trooper 2001.they said is because they put different oil, than the one is needed
Good morning Matt Peyne: I want to thank your help with the contribution of your videos, they helped me replace the gasket of the variable intake body, the thermostat and the Delphi gasoline regulator (I bought everything by Tiendamia and they sent it to me from your country to the south of the Earth; I live in
Neuquén Patagonia Argentina and in this area the climate is arid, it is healthy, comparable to that of California). The last maintenance was to make some flush to renew all the ATF before changing the gaskets and the filter of the 4L30-E. My name is Tobías, stop by my channel so you can see our 1999 LSE Rodeo that is in our family, it has not completed 100,000 miles yet ^^. I send you a hug friend!
on my 2002 axiom my transmission was driving good for awhile ,then later it started to slip on and off. then days later as i was driving , it just went out of service. it wouldn't drive any more ,so i had to push it home where it now sits mad. any suggestions ?
My childhood with the music 🥺
No dip stick ?
No dipstick
Also they sell drill pumps that will pump trans fluid at home depo for about 25$+hoses and such , makes this way more economic to change your fluid I do it every 25k now within a half hour or less and no mess , was a good investment
Good tip! I had read about that, but I also read a message board post by a guy that said he had been doing that and then had the drill pump fail and spit a bunch of rubber into his transmission fluid. So I kind of shied away from trying that method. Good to know it's been working well for you, though...I might have to look into it some more.
Thanks for watching!
@@mattpayne4087 i also heard the same issue, so i simply went for clear tubes and watch carefully.
Okay but what side is it on???
Duh...huh huh
Passenger side
Google bought me here
Is this a reliable transmission in your opinion?
Absolutely not.
holybritches wow!!! Thank you!
@@joonajks I say that because I have one and have replaced the transmission myself. It is very weak. I have looked into this transmission a lot and they are known for not having a long life span.
@@holybritches if it's not getting routine maintenance***
211k miles on mine. Never had the filter changed. The fluid level has been checked but never low. Runs and drives perfectly.
It's had a temperature guage on it since day one and never overheated. I think that's the key.
Some people say the vehicle must be level while some say the transmission itself must be level...which is it? Expert answers only please
Stupid design…
A good video but you can’t understand a word you’re saying with the damn car running and you repeat yourself over and over
This video didnt show me a fuckin thing
