I don't know why but I think I liked how the hobbywing max 5 with 1100kv 25/35 gearing did on the xmaxx. I love it on my xmaxx trucks, plus it fits perfectly with the WFO stuff. Less weight too with the smaller 1100kv motor too.

So now I’m looking to buy another beat up used 8s Xmaxx so I can do one of each. Lmk if you have any issues I should watch out for. Again another awesome video man . Thank you for your help again.

Excellent. But I'm not a fan of having my esc so high up there like it is on that mount. I know that the WFO ESC plate meant for the max 5 and the xmaxx can probably work because the holes on the bottom of the XLX2 are in the same place. Maybe that would work better 👍. Damn the left front tire is all wobbly. I got my 4.3 proline badlands today for that reason. I got tired of gluing them.

How is this, compaired to the max5/800kv set up? it seems it got the same topspeed, but abit more power. its just, that the max5/800kv option is less than 2/3 the price of the xlx2 set up.
How does it compare to the 2028 cas. And what wheelie bar are you using I still have the stock one on

WFO makes a metal ESC mount that will work for the XLX2. I'm surprised you're not running it since your running their motor mount.

Your overload may be due to the “C” rating on your batteries. The true C rating of your lipos is one of the most important factors when making sure the XLX2 doesn’t go into protection/error mode. Also most people don’t seem to use adequate connectors for the demanding castle products..... that will cause AMP overload. It’s not just heat that causes it.
How could it be an Overload if the Connectors and or Batteries are Not Adequate!?? An Overload implies Too Much Power, Not a Case of Not enough!
@@Cornelius456 Think of drinking a quart of water through a coffee straw...such is the case when the wrong connectors/wiring are used. The high power demand increases voltage resistance, which overloads the esc, as it's not seeing the power it needs at the rate it's drawing (trigger position). However, many users run into this issue on the XMaxx relative to the sensor wire.
I wanna do this combo since it got fixed. What gears would you recommend for around 70mph?
I do like you putting those hd arms to a test too might have to get a set of those
so far I'm happy with them, I may do the top arms too.
Definitely get the arms its worth it 👌 because I got some for my and the up grade Traxxas shock Springs the stiff ones. It makes a big difference.
I have this same Combo, but have not yet powered it due to lack of Battery's. I listen to other 1100kv and they have like a machine gun sound when rolling off power, mind's do not make this sound... should I be worry ?
I'm running the XLX2 AND 800KV motor on my Outcast 8s with 39/39 gearing. I'm not getting that excessive overload error code but my batteries are getting so hot that they puff. So I'm going to try 35/39 next. I hit LVC and everything with non stop driving and no excessive overload. Maybe you are over geared but so am I 🤔. Maybe there's something wrong with your ESC? I've heard of some people having issues with the XLX2
Who makes the 40 tooth pinion you are using? And spur? Is that still what you would recommend?

I'm loving that 1100kv but I'm wondering if the xlx2 isn't overkill. Especially considering how much real estate it takes up and how high it's gotta be mounted to fit. I'd think the monster mamba 8s might be the way to go? if you do some custom work on the receiver box you could likely even fit the mmx 8s under the rails and behind the motor....keeping the center of gravity a bit lower and even protecting the xlx from damage
I've seen one local guy get the xlx2 in the frame rails so yeah thats possible. I ran the Monster X8s with 800kv for a while and its super strong too.
I would go for the mamba monster x 8s instead. I got the xlx2 coming for my Outcast 8s because it's so much heavier than my xmaxx 8s. I have a max 5 combo with the 1100kv motor on my xmaxx and that thing is a BEAST

The 800 is awesome but once castle gets the firmware issue taken care of, this will be my new favorite. But I gotta say Castle and Hobbywing both have very nice systems that works great in the xmaxx so can't go wrong with either one.
Read the logs and tell us how many amps it ate! You should set the sampling rate to the highest to really catch the peaks, otherwise it will miss them. Really enjoy your content!👏🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

@@ExocagedRC Aaah but on the stock settings it stops recording when it's full, so depending on how much you have ran it the kraton run should be on there and maybe some of the Xmaxx run. It can record for about 18mins in stock form if Castle had it setup like the Mmm X 8s🤗. Either way lets see the logs!😍

yeah it sure does, I can turn it down a lot and if I set up the torque feature I can turn that down and probably not have the excessive load issue.
I got the XLX2 coming in March for my dbxle2 hopefully everything will be good with them by than. I noticed no difference between the MMX6S to the mmx8s running same setup. Not sure about goin up on gearing while pulling over current code. Does it run better than the original xlx far as power output. I mean my xlx esc are beast mode for sure. One thing is ill never get rid of any of my xlx esc's pretty soon you wont find them anywhere anymore and they always been solid performer for me!

@@ExocagedRC supposed to be a firmware update for the MMX8S as well. I have 3 of them and only ran 1 once waiting on the firmware update to fix the kv issues. Have you ran a MMX8S in a 1:5 scale and if so how was it. I was thinking about pulling my xlx in favor of the MMX8S for a trial run for fun.

Turning punch down will help but the problem is the batteries now the esc just a beast only way I've see this now happen when guys running 2 4 s parallel then then in series in to esc 4 packs lot of weight thought
I'm using the Powerhobby 7200mah batteries and they are pretty strong. I did give it a run with turnigy 5000 mah batteries but the output was noticable on the truck.

Well it seems they are not holding up very well. I’ll most likely go back to the tried and true proline badlands on it.
Louise belted Uphill X are lighter than PowerHobbys and mine have never split or rimmed after a year of mad bashing with it. Power Hobbys are 784g each . Louise Uphills are 760g each. You can get from Euro Rc ☺
Compared to a Hobbywing Max5 system, do you experience differences in performance? So the XLX2 compared to the Max 5? I now drive a Max 5 with a Leopard 58113 1050kv system, and I was wondering what the benefits of the Castle system are compared to my system.
The difference is smooth take off and maybe a bit more amp flow than the Max5. But you aren’t missing much at all, you have an awesome setup.
I still don't understand how the smaller esc in the kraton didn't have any problems but the way bigger one overloaded?
It’s something with the firmware on the big one. I’m sure we will get a new firmware update to fix it.

I have an 1100 apart and they did go to a slightly smaller bearing for some reason. This Castle 1100 is a seriously strong beast but its also amp hungry, I feel the HW may be a bit more efficient but its also a slightly shorter motor.

My stock 8s motors pinion bearing inner cage came apart (breath)... magnet wrap and internals appear ok, so I put new “sealed” bearings at both ends. I may have gotten lucky this time, but I’ll be leaning now towards the HW max5 and 1100kv setup. Close(r) to stock, efficient/reliable and cool running are all I’m looking for. Thanks again!
Just watched your HW 1100 video... Yup, that’s the go to for me personally. I run 99% of the time at the beach. With lots of break time, never heavy on the throttle for extended times as you guys did in that video for test purposes. Thanks so much!
I noticed most of my issues with the excessive load beeps come when the motor gets hot so my thinking maybe a fan on the motor will help ...but your right a change to the firmware is required...I am adding Futaba telemerty to see if there is a correlation to this...will get back to yyou..
Ok cool. I checked motor temps after this run and the motor was about 130, that’s not hot at all IMO.
Hay I didn't watch the whole video yet but I asked you couple months ago what size pinion gear to use and you said that you felt the 40 tooth would be good with the 1100kv and now my max 6 keeps cutting out so need to go down in size of pinion gear for 20 bucks or buy a max 5 for 200 bucks think ill buy the gear don't really need it to do 65 mph
So it’s pushing the Max6 a bit too much, the big fix would be the Max5 but it’s a lot more money than a pinion gear
Just a crazy question here ,but um what kinda 8s motor can I fit in to modify the traxxas maxx mini ,not for speed runs just prolonged playtime

Traxxas has a mount to put in a stock Xmaxx motor and esc if you want.

Did you use the xlx2 with the stock reciever and controller? If so where did you plug the aux and rx wires in the traxxas reciever.
It has a Gt5 receiver depending on the transmitter you have you can splice it into the 2-speed trans servo and use that to select crawler or trail modes.

With that motor and esc combo do I have to do modifications to install it or is it just direct fit?
You need a motor mount and bigger pinion to make it work.

That one got some serious power. So 1100KV is not much, so it must have a huge amount of moment and a high gearing right? Or did I miss out something about kv? 🙂
With the 40t on it it seems fine. 45t with the 800kv

I am just using the Saga Customs pinion gears and thats a hardened integy spur gear. I can find you the gear on ebay if you want to use my link to purchase.

Yeah I like a 40/50 combo in mine. With the castle you can go a bit higher without issues. But not much.
Do you think that syrup would be good in a limitless car for dragracing or a felony from Arrma ???
I'd never put syrup in an RC car lol I had to!!! IMO I'd go with a 1650 smaller motor or a TP motor with a higher KV. Thats just me and I have seen people make these work in them so maybe?

Man if you go 1100 get some big serious batteries it pulls a LOT of amps. I haven’t done anything with my DBXLE 2.0 yet as far as motor/esc goes but if I do I will probably do the 800kv setup since it’s just so heavy.

Man when u do put the xlx2 800 kv in ur losi dbxl-e 2.0 u will be extremely satisfied with it. Just got mine in and running. All I can say is the stock system vs this one is like night and day on power . Can't wait to see your video on it

From what I’ve seen it does tend to run a bit cooler but still hotter than the 800kv even though it’s the same physical size. It pulls a TON of amps though.

Yeah I think so too. I’ll most likely go back to the proline tires, these haven’t held up very well.

@@FataL-Gr the xlx2 and the castle 1100kv have 3-4 times more power output than the max5 and the 1100kv hobbywing...and you must be running the 5th scale version wheels with the bead lock
