- I recently installed a Lithium-Ion trolling motor battery in my Twin Troller X10 boat. I am going fishing for the first time since installing the Battle Born battery so that I can test how the lithium-ion battery performs. Come with me to see how the battery performs.

Gerry, did you use the bluetooth app while on the water to see how it was measuring the battery's available charge? Loved the on water test run. Thanks for inviting us along.
Jim, I wish I could. The charger is Bluetooth not the battery. My fish finder that is connected to the main battery tells me voltage and you saw me show that in the video. I do not think any kind of Bluetooth capability would show you what you have left in the battery only the voltage but I may be wrong. Gerry
@@LunkerFishing Thanks for the clarification Gerry. For some reason I was thinking the battery actually had bluetooth capabilities. It won't change my opinion on purchasing the BB Battery, but it does help me set my expectations. Again, many thanks!
Jim, I am glad to answer your questions. We can all learn from each other. Gerry
I love Lake Underhill, growing up in Orlando. I've fished it a couple times, and caught some nice fish.
Agree, Great Lake. Gerry
Gerry, I have had a Battle Born Lithium for about 8 months and have found the same thing you did. Full power, even performance through the charge down to 10.7 volts, then it drops dead like most. Their charger is fantastic and worth the money...charges very fast. I go under creepy low bridges in backwater swamps to catch northern snakeheads and the Twin Troller allows me to go where kayaks go for less pressured water. Love it! Thanks for helping us all Gerry!
Pete, It is great to hear others have the same experience with the Battle Born. I have never seen a snakehead myself. I bet they are fun to catch. It is handy that you can get to places even the kayaks do not go. Catch one for me! Gerry
Gerry, another great video. I'm having some work done on my truck this spring, but I may look at a lithium battery down the road. I am really excited about the lighter weight on the Lithium batteries, and the power distribution over the course of the day.
Me too Steve! I did not realize about the power distribution prior to buying the battery. Nobody ever commented about that. It was a pleasant surprise! Gerry
Glad you are happy with your new battery
Thank you Patty, I am very happy with this battery. Gerry
Very nice video. It was interesting to see how far you got away from boat launch. Thanks for sharing!
East Texas, I usually purge the air in the trolling motor chambers. I then board the TT and can back out as you see in my video.
Hi Jerry, I am glad you like the BB, I have been using mine since I got the TT and use it in the ricskiff also 3 yr. now.
Hi Rick! So far so good. I think it was a good move to get this battery and charger. Gerry
Hoping to have my battery sometime next week. I am anxious to get rid of weight in rear of boat because I always run boat from back with my wife or partner in front (both lighter than my 220)... As always , enjoyed your video Gerry!
Thanks David! You will love the Lithium Battery! Gerry
Well somehow I marked this video with a like when it came out but something must off came up and I never viewed it. I still have my big Interstate marine battery which will be going into it's third year. I'm not sure how much I would like going under that highway though but if you had one of those quick Florida rains it would be nice to hide under that big umbrella. That last fish looked like the one John claimed to of almost broke his pole.
Steve, I had my lead acid Optima Blue Top battery for six years and three month before it died and I went to the Battle Born Lithium-Ion. I would still be using the Optima if it had not died. I have had to hide under that highway to get out of the rain and also in the middle of the summer to get out of the sun.
That John is always sneaking into the video some place and more of him to come soon! 😋 Gerry
Nice video Gerry. Again good information. Hated to see you throw dinner away though.
Jim, Glad you like the video. I do not like to clean fish! 😋 Gerry
How fast are you able to go with the Honda motor Gerry?
4.5 Mph. Gerry
Gerry, why Battle Born over Dakota Lithium? Battle Born seems to the favorite among RVers while touring bass pros seem to prefer Dakota. But, this may reflect more on who these two companies seek out for marketing (and my evidence is anecdotal and based on the CZcams channels that I frequent).
Garth, there was not much research that I could find on the Dakota compared to the Battle Born. I could have purchased a generic battery the same size from Ali Express but the warranty is only one year. The Battle Born is ten years, the first eight are full replacement and the last two are pro rated. You have to be very confident on your product to offer that kind of a warranty. Gerry
@@LunkerFishing Dakota may be trying to one-up Battle Born with an 11 year warranty. However, for years 5-11, Dakota will repair the battery if it is repairable. If not, they will offer a 30% discount on a new battery. Battle Born warranty sounds better here.
Battle Born claims 3,000 charging cycles and an "average" lifespan of 10-15 years. Dakota claims vary from 2,000-3,000 cycles and an "average" life span of 5-10 years. It's tough to say what each company considers "average" to be.
FWIW, Battle Born has been very open with multiple RV vloggers, inviting them into their factory, working out boondocking multiple battery setups, and allowing them to put their batteries to various tests.
Prices are comparable. I'm leaning toward Battle Born for my Twin Troller. Thanks or the on-the-water review.
@@garthscholten4502, I hope this is the last battery I will buy for a long time. You never know until ten years have gone past whether you made a wise decision or not. You can check back here in 2031 for an update! 😳 Gerry
@@LunkerFishing Will do!!
Hi LUNKER
Have you had success trolling in lakes like UNDERHILL?
John, I would have more success if you were there to show me the ropes! Gerry
Hi Gerry, Nice to see I'm not the only one that has those kinds of days LOL. Thanks for the video, that is an impressive warranty from Battle Born, they will probably outlast me! I how long did it take you to get the battery ( I assumed you ordered it on line, I forgot from your other video when you first got it) and did it come with a charger or did you purchase that separately? Stay well my friend... Damon
Damon, I bought a combo of the battery and charger together. It is a Bluetooth charger recommended by the battery company. As best I can remember it took about six days for the battery to arrive. Gerry
So, how long were you on the lake that day? Did you use the battery the entire time? Do you have any idea how much juice you had left in the battery at the end of the day?
Jim, I started at dawn and fished until around 2:20 pm. Other than one run across the lake you see me using the outboard in the video the rest of the day was on the trolling motors. It is not easy to tell how much battery is left because batteries are not like gas tanks. This battery has more amp hours than my previous 31 series lead-acid battery and that one last longer than I was out today, so I think I had plenty left in this battery. Gerry
Gerry, did you notice any additional speed/power from the motors, or just the fact that the original power never dropped throughout the entire outing?
Ted, I think the speed of the trolling motors is the same all day as a lead acid battery is when the TT is launched. If there is a slight increase in the motors speed it is not anything I noticed. Gerry
Thanks, I wish I had the 50 lb thrusts that the new TT's have installed, with a lithium battery, probably wouldn't need an outboard at all Ha.
@@tedondrish9204 Me too! Gerry
New charger needed with that battery correct?
Allen, yes you need a battery charger designed for a lithium-ion battery. This charger has a specific charging pattern for this kind of battery. Gerry
@@LunkerFishing Thanks for the verification. Is the big benefit over a quality AGM that the lithium should last much longer for that cost point?
@@allenbmooresharinginformation That was my original thought but the performance of the battery, weight, and quick charging turned out to be a big deal also. Gerry
