Motorized Cardboard Boat Race CHALLENGE vs PeterSripol!

- Despite cardboard's massive drawbacks, hundreds of people every year get together for Cardboard Boat Races, where small teams construct boats using nearly the worst material imaginable. Naturally, I wanted to give it a try -- so I challenged Peter Sripol! To spice things up, I wanted to add on a motor, making these the fastest cardboard boats around!

The most impressive part was that Walmart answered
Y e s
I'm surprised Walmart gave it to them considering they sell cardboard boxes on the shelves.
@@TheOriginalJphyper having worked there, we're "not allowed" to give customers cardboard for free for that reason. But I can assure you, store-level associates do not give a crap about following rules like those.
Though thing is if he had told an associate he needs some "some time today," with the reason, I for one would have made sure some very large sturdy pieces made it to him. In fact, there are certain ones we get that would be way better suited for a project like this, as they are nearly impossible to get into the baler (even though it could probably fit the entire boat). I'd basically just say "well Mr. manager, I got rid of the cardboard a lot faster this way."

Have you thought about a generous coating of FLEX SEAL
We actually did 😂 but then it wouldn’t have looked like cardboard so we decided against it
@@Weisz ok but...... what if boat made of *only* flex seal products?
And then you saw it in half and put it back together
@@PilkScientist NOW THAT'S A LOTTA DAMAGE
What about trasparent flex seal?
@@modus8256 thats cheating
I love when you are explaining why getting electrocuted is bad, your dad is standing in the back just smiling.
bicycle shops have loads of cardboard as the semi-assembled bikes come in huge boxes!
Plus their a lot less strict than the corporations that he was trying to get to give him cardboard

This is Awesome!!!
Thanks!!
In Ireland you can just walk in and take cardboard
In Russia. Cardboard. Make boat out of YOU.
@@luca1658 cool!!!

It's crazy how youtube refused to give u views even while having such good content and collabs glad to see the channel finally get the recognition it deserves
Woah, a couple of fantastic boats. Gives me some ideas for post apocalyptic flood maneuverings
Super dope!! Yeah peters motor in your boat would’ve been the way to go!
No kidding 😂 I looked it up and it’s actually a high-powered drone motor - they run about $350.
Looks like you made a damn good boat, nice job. I'm kinda surprised the weed whacker didn't work better, but I guess it just was spinning too fast. If you could have geared it down somehow it might have had enough power. That would have been more modification that you probably could do in the time allotted though.
Thanks! Haha yeah I think the real lesson is don’t trust a video clearly made in movie maker 😂
For real though, gearing it down would be a great choice if I knew enough about gearing to implement it usefully - probably something I’ll have to learn!
5:28 turn in captions
lol thanks a gay guys really appreciate it
I had no idea that there were cardboard box races! We're living in the future. Who would have thought that finding cardboard would be so dramatic!
I'm also here for your captain's outfit. Really nice fit! haha
Dude I was so surprised! Something interesting I learned is that apparently the reason places don’t give out much for free anymore is because you can apparently bale it, and there’s a company that will pay to buy the bales of cardboard from you. Kinda sucks for people who just need boxes though - I wish goodwill kept a “moving box donation bin”, I think people would totally use it.
Louis Weisz ohhh so instead of giving it away, they are recouping some cost by selling it. Makes sense I guess, but that sucks for all the people who need materials for cardboard boat creation. Haha
I don't remember this scene in Dunkirk. Great vid, subbed.
Good collab, and awesome that Peter was keen to participate. Your design was solid! Great work all round.
This man just gained 1000 subscribers in the 15-20 minutes I've been watching stuff. Nicely done.
Dam, wish that could happen to me lol
Nice boat. Great to see the collab with Peter. You got my sub :)
this contest honestly inspired me to make a wood boat!
at 9:58 you can see ur dad smiling like "lol u electrocuted urself dummy"
Nah his dad saw a minion meme on his phone
“yeah we have a time restraint”

“Uh yeah so I needed a rival so I just emailed this small up and coming youtuber names Peter shripol you may not know him.
Wish I had a 200 dollar cardboard motor boat like Peters, what a fricken flex, not too fast, not too weak, and super cool!
I am here after watching Peters video. I must say I really like your approach to building and presenting your build. You put a lot of thought into it, and spent time testing most of it. Keep up the good work.
Also I am wondering what where the rules for this challenge?
Thanks dude! Pretty basic rules - the body of the boat itself had to be made from only cardboard and adhesive (standard cardboard boat rules) and then we could add on any motor we wanted.
Loved the video, Louis. Great pacing, good music, and a really fun project. Keep it up!!!
Thanks jake! ‘Preciate it!
This deserves a ton more views
I love how these channels grow!
You have my attention!❤
I hope you have a good days. 😉
Your channel deserves to blow up!
Your dad is so cool supporting you in your CZcams venture!
Bro ur dad seems like such a chill dude
I personally love this channel and I truly hope to see you succeed:)
Nice boat ! 👍
This is amazing
Great Video. I'm surprised that your boat was able to last so long in the water.
9:59 When your talking about games or stuff and dad doesn't care just look at that in the back XD
If Peter Sripol recommends your channel, it likely has quality content.
Good stuff.
You built a better boat, but Peter built a faster boat. Well done!
I think this is proof that slow n steady wins yhe race. Competition sacrificed integrity for speed, and in the end, fell apart before the finish.
Rematch with corraplast sheets. Cool channel. Subscribed.
Peter might have you beat on style, but yours is definetly better engineered.
i just found my fav. youtuber, ur videos r so awsome
Nice video man
Nice mate keep it up
squeak* squeak* the pup loves its toy XD 9:18
Sweet channel man! just came over from Peter Sripol. Lucky boi to get a collab :)
Thanks man! Very lucky indeed, but you’ve got a pretty cool channel yourself!
@@Weisz Ha thanks. You've got my sub.
Awesome project!! +1 sub

Yay yasuo main
In the future you can look for bicycle and fitness stores. We have so much fucking cardboard here its insane. I've actually been thinking of projects just to use it up.
FINALLY GOOD CONTENT
dude your amazing
Fun video
I saw you and next it would be nice if you had a roof on the top like a canopy and add a small water proof motor and a small table and just cruse down the river eating sandwiches😂
I did it it was awesome for about a lifetime
It was like 30seconds😂
Rekio the fox. Lol
You should make peter’s motor on your boat a part two
Gotta love classical laminate theory! :D
What a fun video. When I was a kid I would have committed various crimes to have access to such materials and tooling
This feels like a slow and steady wins the race.

Mom:We have a boat at home

My recommendations figured out i like cardboard creations
You’re gunna be huge, I’m glad I got here early
The boats loks so nice
You're lucky Walmart even offered to give you free cardboard lol I work there and we usually take it all to the compactor and make a huge cardboard bale and they sell it.
What a journey, the first video i see of his is *meat slapper* and now cardboard boats? Whacky.
I feel like he his a younger and newer mark fober which is a complement
I think he's more like William Osmen.

I’ve been at the place you bought boxes from!!!
Props! (pun intended)
You should use a bigger weedeater with a gear head not that 25 cc model. great fun guys.
Both of you should work together and crush a cardboard boat competition 💀
omg you're verified now, that's amazing
Nice
4:48 you can see his dad laughing at him internally..."his thought most likely oh son yea that wil shock you
nice boat holmes, only if the propeller was stronger
That was a good idea on motors, However, Marine motors are typically very high torque low RPM. Wheedwackers use high rpm and a clutch to spin the blades. This was way you could just stick it in the water and pull the throttle because there isnt enough torque to spin it against the resistance of water and you couldnt spin enough RPM to fully engage the clutch. But when you spun it up it would drag and then bog the motor. electric motors are instant torque and don't have that issue of torque curve vs clutch.

Noice my dude
Can't believe i just found this, I wish I found this 2 years ago
So funny story I actually once made a combination lock safe out of cardboard. It actually worked, and couldn't be broken into with sheer force. Or at least the door was anyways. I got lazy with the walls, but it wasn't meant to be practical anyways. Unfortunately, a part came loose on the inside while it was closed, and it never opened again. I eventually had to throw it away :(
How much adhesive did you use? Titebond (waterproof) is very expensive in Canada.
holy shit a corrugated design lab! that's exactly the kind of place my dad works at. he works at one in Wooster, i used to work summers in one helping him run the table cutting those big sheets into boxes and other pieces and parts for clients. fun fact, the blades they use are actually just standard issue exacto knives. it's literally just a big ass mechanized box cutter
You thought out your design better than Peter. I'm interested in whether or not he comes back for another go. His motor was obviously beter than yours but he has more resources to throw at it. I was waiting to find out how you waterproofed your boat. I'm surprised only one? coat of marine varnish.
Ok, I see yours died too. If you soaked all the pieces in resin and coated it inside and out I think you might be on to a winner here. I'm going to back you on a return match. Good Effort Louis.
How did a colab with peter not get over 1k likes ?!?
I can hear the garage band music loop lol
Well I remember it
"We're about 3 layers deep so- helloo"
I shat my pants reading this comment Lmao
I love how this channel is just doing dumb things really smartly.
I’m here from peter, you seem cool so I’ll subscribe
Why do you have not that much subs you need more
Some tortoise and the hare stuff
When he said yours was a lot sturdier he was not kidding at all.....
2:25 I’m sorry to point this out but that voice crack😂😂😂
You got some Panda Eyes
I wonder what kind of boat it’d be if ya finished it in resin and fiberglass ?
Your boat with Peters motor would of worked great!
Yeah
lmao, this is awesome~
Wait. Wait wait wait wait wait... Peter Sripol is here in my hometown??
Reminds me of summer camp
Tbh you probably could have gone faster with cardboard oars instead of a weed whacker motor 🤣
Although it wasn't super efficient that weed eater actually seems pretty powerful.
The intro boat was surprisingly fast
Peter built a speedboat and you built a tug
I love how you attempted to roast sears, when your first call was to an even shittier dying company, that you never got thru to, seems one is still doing better than the other. :3
Is that guyliner when you're calling stores or 3 days without sleep?
Or guyshadow I guess.
Combine your boats together and reinforce them with *Flex Seal* for the Ultimate Cardboard Boat. lol
