- I love Star Trek. I love that Mike loves Star Trek. This is a compilation I made for the amusement of myself and my girlfriend. Similar compilations exist out there, I know. I tried to make a note of pretty much every reference that was made in Half in the Bag and cut together this video.

I love how it's not that Mike likes Star Trek that bothers Jay, it's that he has a Trek synopsis that relates to every life experience.
That's because Star Trek is a life experience.
All he has is Star Trek and Ghost shows....and booze.

This was fun!
It reminds me of a Star Trek Discovery episode called 'Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad', in which the crew of the Discovery is trapped in a time loop doomed to experience the same 30 minutes over and over.
And THAT reminds of the episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation "Cause and Effect" in which Frasier keeps bumping up in the Entreprise D.
That was the first and one of the few episodes of discovery that actually felt like Star Trek

My bad - that's just a bad cut. It's a frame from RLM's Independence Day Resurgence review and it says "This promotional material is owned by 20th Century Fox and not available for promotional purposes" in red and all caps, and at the bottom-right in white it says "Please email Fox and explain Fair Use to them. Thank you." I think RLM must have been getting bogus copyright strikes from Fox for that video.

I felt so bad for Mike when William Shatner had a mean-spirited senior moment and trashed RLM for some confusing reason. Shatner has always been a mean SOB. It's no secret that he made everyone miserable during the original series.
I met Shatner several times at a resort in Hawaii and he was an awesome guy. Super friendly to everyone and even would chat it up with the hotel staff. I can't say enough good things about him. I would say he seems like the kind of guy that doesn't suffer fools gladly though. Lastly regarding RLM and Bill's Twitter account, it probably wasn't him writing it. Here's a shocker for ya; he didn't really write Tek War either.

Masks is one of my all time, top ST:TNG episodes. I love it. Why does Mike think it sucks? Data is amazing in it. I'm very sus of anyone who says they like Star Trek but doesn't like Masks.

Watching these older clips makes me feel like Mike used to have a lot more nihilistic energy. Like, he had more passion to hate stuff, which resulted in funnier takes and quips. Now he's just a tired old man.
Star Trek. The Original Series was great. The Next Generation was very good. Deep Space Nine was sort of ok. Voyager was maginally adequate.
I used to think that Enterprise was kind of weak. However, Discovery and Picard make me think that Enterprise wasn't so bad after all.
I will not speak of Lower Decks.
Lower decks is good at what it is trying to do and I garentee you if you gave it a chance past the shitty first few eps you will want it to be more canonical then discovery and Picard
Me and my current girlfriend No One will enjoy this too.
