- In this video, we go over the seedling progress in this Cactus Seed Soil Battle experiment that we started almost 6 months ago. The Astrophytum and Ariocarpus seedlings in tray #1 are 25 1/2 weeks old and the seedlings in tray #2 are 16 weeks old. Can we make any conclusive remarks at this point? Well, kind of, yes, sort of...

I love seeing these updates. Always makes me want to sow more cactus seeds.
I'm so glad you enjoy seeing these updates, Maria. This alone makes making the series and keeping up with the updates worth it.
Aww ☺️. I’m glad Cookie is doing good too.
@@54Maria 💚💚💚 Cookie is still living the good life
Cute little cookie, hope she is fine. ❤
We're enjoying all the good days we can get 💚💚💚
👍👍looks like great progress
Let's see how they do in another 4 weeks! 🤞🤞🤞
Ti ringrazio per gli aggiornamenti e una coccola a Biscotto.
💚💚💚 I love the translation of "cookie" in other languages! I love Biscotto!!
I would recommend you to buy a cheap light meter. It's not crafted to measure quality of growlights, but it's still good enough to measure the differences in light intensity in the middle and on the edges.
Worm castings is a good thing in my opinion. Personally, I use vermicompost, which is a similar thing and it's the only type of organic matter that I use for all of my cacti.
Thank you for the advice as always!
i listen while i water 😊
I love this! 💚🙏
What an amazing experiment! Thank you for sharing. I am planning on starting to sell an extra large box of my seed soil mix to make it more affordable, since shipping is the most expensive part of my soil. Let me know what you think :)
That would be super helpful, Manuel! I forgot that priority shipping eats up the majority of the cost. Being able to purchase in larger quantities of soil to even out the shipping cost would definitely help a lot.
I overdosed half my pots with fungicide, dosent look to good atm, only wery littel germination :x the other half looks great. But a few with mold in those :p Hope mine will look as good as yours in 6 months 💕
Mold is one heck of a survivor huh? As annoying as it is I can't help but admire its resilience!
Do you keep water in the bottom of the dome to start out? or do you just mist from top? I bought these mini greenhouses like yours, but not sure on how to water them the best way from seed.
When they're covered I don't water because the environment stays very humid and doesn't dry out. After I start opening the dome, I top water for no better reason than I once had one bad experience in the past lol.
@@cookiescacti Thank you, i will try this just ordered more seeds, for the domes :) Everything i have molding seems to be the seeds, maybe they are bad seeds, i will try to spray them with hydrogenperoxide next batch ^^
@@zhaezz84 oh gosh I always have mold! But my laziness and not sanitizing anything could have something to do with it
@@cookiescacti do you remove it or just let it be? i remove it, and try to spray with fungicide, but it seems to only be the seeds in some pots molding. (i do sterilize everything) So will try to dip in hydrogenperoxide for 1 minute next time. But think a lot of sterilizing of seeds will kill some germination... Same will fungicide for sure ^^ i tested this :x
