Scarlet and violet sure kept up with the times with modern slang was only a matter of time...
This is a nice touch with Bianca and Hugh here especially knowing that most of the Paldea characters like Penny are also going to Unova due to player inviting them on League Club in Blueberry Academy. I am excited! We are going back to Unova on Dec 14.
Was nice hearing Bianca's old story of worrywart parents, Penny has an overprotective dad herself wonder how he let her go to Pasio or Paldea in the first place.
i'm starting to wonder...there are rumors flying around of unova remakes as well...and the fact they are pairing the paldea characters with unova ones in this game is an interesting coincidence...

Just wanna say, the fact that both Nemona and Penny have teamed up with someone from Unova makes me wonder if they'll do the same for Arven and probably the MCs. Ngl, would definitely like N and Arven talking, and N probably communicating to Arven's Mabostiff.
Add Silver in this when having a possible Arven and N interaction. Three of them will be jealous of Brendan and Barry.

Anyway, the thing I like most about Penny in this game is that her EX turns her bag shiny. Also that her EX matches Bede's EX near-perfectly, it's kind of uncanny. Now I kinda want to see some kind of interaction btwn her and Bede. He uses a Sylveon on one of his teams as well.
Bede and Penny's interaction will be a battle of bickering. It will be funny.
When I saw Penny's EX I was all like "Damn, Pokemon Masters really said 'let's make Penny EVEN MORE trans than she already was', didn't they?"
Nemona sure found herself a great battle partner: Hilda.

What they talked about revenge was quite moving, Hugh's experience with it and talking about N also. Penny's story was relatable too. (Fact she says everyone is going to school again means this already takes place after Starfall street).
Still they can't just let the villains get away who knows if they already stole other pokemon besides that eevee. Plus, sending a dark type and dragon type to battle against sylveon was a big mistake there. Add Hugh on top their chances of winning was zilch for sure.
Wait... that Poryphone can FLY??? Wow this is the first time I see the phone that wasn't on Scottie or Bettie and not a Rotom Phone.
Also... is Hugh talking about Paulo? It felt like it's N, but Paulo was the one who too regretted how he acted in the past, had to face his crime with probation on Pasio (which N didn't), and have friends like Tina and your player to support him.

@@WizardSoon yeah I thought of N first too, but I don't remember N having to face his crime in Pasio. Paulo on the other end was under probation with Looker supervising him, which was why I was skeptical that it was N.
@@rocksterphang7985 N has to "face his past mistakes" by trying to make amends on Pasio for trying to separate people and pokemon. He genuinely believed it was something that had to be done, and while Pasio is a good place for people and pokemon to get along, it goes against the beliefs he was raised with his whole life.
Penny is a hacker and how she hacked the pokemon league in Paldea imagine her doing it at Pasio. Or even to evil teams

Masters has a unique way bringing characters together.
When Leon first came to Pasio fact he didn't have GMax made me feel he was incomplete, same for others like Raihan and Nessa. I feel the same seeing Penny and Nemona without terastalising.
Okay, this story was pretty fun. I love the little references and callbacks and the banter between Hugh and Penny is awesome.
So when Penny mentions the Paldea customs regarding when Trainer's eyes meet, does that mean canonically doesn't have mandatory Pokémon battle rules, and it's not just a gameplay change for Scarlet and Violet?
I think Nemona brought it up in her event too, and it *might* have been some dialogue in SV itself mentioning it, like in a book or something.
@@flerken4233 correct! Nemona mentions how fun the rule is in some dialogue in the pokemon center, and how she could get used to it, or something along those lines.
Basically it's heaven for her, hell for most other paldeans.
Well it's likely a gameplay change (that isn't explained in SV for some reason) that just get carried over into Masters to explain it (like how Elio and Selene's blank stares were explained in their event).

I just noticed almost every major character here is from Unova (obviously aside from Penny and Nemona) does this hint at NC Unova next month? 🤔
Maybe more of Easter Egg to the coming SV DLC part 2? Because Blueberry Academy is in Unova, and leak hints that Nemona, Penny and Arven may be involved in the story in someway.
Now I just wonder if we'll get Arven in Masters before the DLC is out.
(It's already confirmed that DLC 2 will be available on 14th Dec)
Maybe hinting at unova remake or BW3 sequels or Legend Kyurem...

I will say that I definitely enjoyed this event more than Nemona's event.
The Victory Road (Nemona) route is your traditional Pokémon journey. With the bosses to match up until the end.
Starfall (Penny’s route) is not and has the better bosses too.
It would be so nice to see Penny meeting other team leaders.

Paulo was my first guess too, just b/c it was more recent, but N did interact w/ Hugh quite a bit during the Unova VA.

@@stoneslab I doubt Hugh has to meet Paulo directly since Paulo was the leader for Team Break and forced everyone to be occupied with their members. Lol not to mention everyone on Pasio knew each other eventually behind the scenes. Eh, N and Paulo are similar in some aspects, so it can be either. I just think it's Paulo, despite Hugh did talk with N too.

I'm losing interest to play Masters since the 4th Anniversary.
But I cannot to see Arven in the game. 😅
One thing that kinda annoys me about Pokemon Masters writing is that I feel like they have a habit of devolving characters to a couple phrases and/or actions when there's more to the characters. Like Nemona's Masters personality is just saying "fruitful" a lot and Penny here is kinda just the girl that says "cringe," "be who you wanna be," or just star related puns
Unfortunately another casualty of the writing style is undeveloped protagonists, they could have had Rosa listing more hobbies. Funnelling it down to just "Pokémon battling and I acted in a movie once" doesn't really say anything new about the character.
as someone who knows and cares way too much about the paldea characters myself, i know what you mean but i think it's a great thing for emphasizing their unique ways of speaking when pokemon characters quote or remix their source material in tasteful moderation and don't force it. calling back to a bunch of lines and situations once each in a new context that also makes sense and won't really stick out as weird to newcomers, for the only 14-15 minutes of new story penny has had in a year, makes it feel less generic and more like her imo, and doesn't diminish the new character arc for her going on here either. it's mainly the day-to-day gameplay voice lines in this game that force it a little bit too hard and come off really cheesy sometimes, i think. since you hear them more often, they're not really the place for that
on that note i am a little surprised just how meek and timid she still sounds in her voice acting, after dropping the "supply depot" act and yelling at people for most of area zero, but that's a perfectly valid interpretation they still make work, i think. she's still pretty prickly about loud impulsive people and still weak to cute things, that hasn't changed or gotten lost. nothing about her has, really. i like that she has a new pokemon mechanics joke instead of saying the own tempo one again. i like that she likes having a briefing about a plan before jumping in and got to be the one with someone else talking in her ear for a change. taking a one-off thing a character says or does and interpreting something from it or making it One Of Their Things is something you kinda have to do when you have source dialogue as sparse and show-don't-tell as main series Pokemon's often is.
imo there's a sort of artistry in how they wrapped everything she is so far into a neat new package for both players who know her and want to know how her story continues and players who don't know her and need some catching up. nemona's event basically caught you up on who she is while finally letting her have some closure on her problems and needs, and her sync pair story slotted into my interpretation of what her writing implied perfectly (although i do think it's weird her parents' house is her sync mindscape when she refused to rematch us there and it's mesagoza square that she was the happiest she's ever been. maybe they're saving it for later?). we'll see what penny's sync pair story adds.

@@Hazedragon97 yeah, she unfortunately is just here as a prop for someone else in this story, i try not to have expectations for anyone from older games like that (it is really interesting how unova-centric this gen 9 stuff got all of a sudden after the announcement that's where blueberry academy is, though). they should do more with blank slate protagonists considering they can be literally anything but most characters in a 200 character game aren't going to get much love individually
