    Yes, I know it's strange that I don't properly know the names of the guitar strings, but I am not a musician and it's been a long time since my brother tried to teach me!
    Please excuse the sniffles. :)
    Thank you to everyone who has left comments on my previous videos and requested more tutorials! I'm busy but will do my best to make more as I can!

    Guitar string jewelry maker's tip: Boil the strings before you use them!! Not only does it tend to make the strings a bit more pliable, it also sanitizes them. Guitar strings are so dirty! The coils hold bacteria from whoever's fingers were playing them, and whatever they touched. And since it's really easy to poke yourself with sharp ends while cutting and working with them, it's really easy to get a nasty infection.

    Probably! I've used violin and harp strings without any problems (well, the harp strings were a bit tougher and harder to manage, but they still worked).

    From bottom to top the strings are, "E", "B", "G", "D", "A", and "E." A good way to remember this is using the first letter of each string in the phrase, "Easter bunnies get drunk at Easter." ;)

      I guess violin strings would feel more comfortable as a ring since they're flat wound?

    What if you dont have wire...can you use the smallest string on the guitar??

    • @shaylynnadventures
      @shaylynnadventures  Před 3 lety +1

      Probably not, it’s not very flexible and wouldn’t hold the shape tightly enough to hold the ring together. If you try it and it works let me know, though

    Have you sealed them with anything? I love guitar string jewelry, but it doesnt last very long... becomes rusty and worn looking. Im curious if you can seal it somehow

    • @courtneyvalmusic2738

      you can get steel wool to shine it up again/clean, but not sure about sealing it

    fr anyone doing this with old,used, guitar strings, please don't forget to give it a bath in hydrogen peroxide before putting the decorative wire over top.
    you don't need the dirt and sweat and skin of a guitarist rubbing off onto your fingers.

    • @shaylynnadventures
      @shaylynnadventures  Před 9 lety +1

      Jacob Nielsen I forgot that step in this video (I've put it in others), and the method I've used is boiling the strings as it doesn't damage them but also very effective removes gunk.
