Laguna Beach Dream Waves: First South Swell of 2024

- The day started out gloomy and sketchy with a three hour session at The Wedge in Newport Beach. Only a handful of good waves were ridden as the swell picked up and the dirty ole wedge showed its teeth. Wipeouts were way more common than makes with about 1/10 waves allowing a clean exit. After leaving The Wedge we made a pit stop at our favorite mexican food restuarant on the peninsula, Great Mex. Stuffing ourselves with burritos and tortilla chips, we headed straight to Aliso where we were well aware the shorebreak would not help our food digest. It was a day to remember with great waves being ridden on both skimboards and surfboards.

I grew up in Fountain Valley in the 70s. We hung out on the South side of Huntington between 3 and 5 most of the time, but we went to the wedge regularly because we take the San Antonio river to the beach on our bikes back then, skimming was just on the flat of the river Delta.
I watch beefs On the regular two, but I like your angle. It's more like actually sitting on the beach and looking straight out. Thanks for doing it. I love everyone of these videos cheers all

Your videos always bring back such great memories...and some scary times at The Wedge! I love watching all your Aliso Creek vids too. I grew up in Laguna so I love watching your very cool videos! Always wholesome and refreshing and absolutely entertaining! I don't surf myself but I used to love watching my old boyfriend compete (and win a lot) in Boogie Board comps all over California and down in Baja! His picture was even on some of the very first Morey Boogie (Body) Boards packaging! We all had such a blast back in the day and some of my all time favorite memories! Thanks for the awesome content! 🏄 👍🥰
