The other series he’s referring too was Bottom. Why it’s so funny is because Ritchie and Alan are completely opposite characters. Richie (Bottom) is a 40 year old virgin who no one likes, not even Eddie his best friend. He constantly tries to assert his dominance or get laid but always fails miserably. Alas B’stard on the other hand is a powerful politician who is feared and respected. Is married, cheats on her constantly, and most of the schemes and getting laid usually work out. Rik was such a legend playing these over the top characters and so it’s awesome that they let him do pretty much whatever he wanted on screen.
Rik was "BLOODY GREAT AND BUUURRRRRILLIANT!"
Gold, pure gold. Rik had the absolute best out takes.
What a legend! Rip sir 🙏

Still making me laugh out loud in 2024 RIP Rik

He is referring to the Young Ones.
This Comic Relief special is from March 1988 whereas Bottom started in 1991, so Rik Mayall would have had to be psychic to be referencing Bottom.
@@bernicia-sc2iwNevertheless it's nice to get such a profound description of Bottom!❤😊
21 seconds in and Rik is giving the look of "You're gonna make me do this!" XD
Genius
Too Mayall. Great Comedy. Gone too soon. R I P.
I take it that this was an outtake and not actually in the episode?
It was a special for the first ever Red Nose Day from Comic Relief.
