One of the funniest sweaty men that ever existed. When Rik sadly left us, I was generally worried about Ade. These two were inseparable for decades. Direct quote from Ade after hearing of Rik’s death. “He’s died for real. Without me. Selfish bastard”

Rik and Ade messing with each other on stage for two acts straight is funnier than anything else on stage has been in the last 20 years. These two were the best.
I was there that night. Absolutely terrific! I still have the ‘EDDIE HITLER STOLE MY PINT’ t-shirt I bought that evening! So sad that Rik passed away. ‘The People’s Poet’ will always be missed and very fondly remembered. He was a a truly funny man.

Utter brilliance.....Rik and Ade were the perfect double team. Rik would forget his lines on many occasions, Ade was just Ade, mad as a box full of angry badgers
Before Rik became well known he had a (tiny)bit part in the film 'American Werewolf in London'. However, before the film was released 'The Young Ones' started on TV. I went to the cinema to watch the film and the moment Rik appeared on the screen a loud spontaneous cheer went up from the audience. It was quite amazing to witness. 'Drop dead Fred' is one of my favourites.
Miss you Rik! You and Ade brought my brother and I so many memories, still every holiday or christmas we have to search for Richie scenes from Bottom and send them to each other.
What a shame Rik Mayall no longer is with us. Remember his roles with great admiration. My absolute favorites were Lord Flashheart in the series Blackadder and Alan Bastard MP. If you can hear me up there: Woof!
Two of our best at their absolute best. I still think the Christmas Day edition of BOTTOM, with Gold, Frankenstein and Grr, was the one of the funniest shows they did ever. Thanks for posting here.
5 years ago today. Yeah i am shedding a tear today for the loss of my comedy hero! I miss you so much and so glad that i got to see you live. R.I.P Rik
I was almost rolling of my chair with laughter, until I read the comment section... I didn't know Rik Mayall died. This saddens me profoundly, why do the good ones always die too soon... May his soul rest in peace.
It’s true- they do speak like this. And I can’t understand a word of it. My wife is from Nottingham and she baffles me every day. But also introduced me to Rik and Ade. Sadly, too late to enjoy anything live- like this masterpiece
I laughed so hard. I never expected to enjoy this so much ! Only discovered these guys today ! RIP Rik ! You will always be remembered with our laughter.
Saw this show in Llandudno with my Brother, when Rick said he could speak Welsh.. He read something out and everyone wet themselves except us, do not speak Welsh. Then Eddy comes out with ' I can speak Welsh ' Rick ' No you can't '... Eddy ' Yes I can ' Rick ' Proof it ' Eddy ' OK ' Eddy walks to the front of the stage and stops, looks around and says ' BAAAAHHHH!! ' Priceless the best comedy duo the world has ever seen.
It's always just as hilarious as the skit when the actors, especially blisteringly funny genius comedians in this league, drop character for just an instant. It shows they're having just as much fun as the audience. Rik and Ade were wonderful together. Adrian's final tribute to Rik just about broke me . "Bastard. I was supposed to go first."

I became aware of Rik n Ade in around 2000 when i watched their flick "guest house paradiso". It is indeed quite remarkable that i ever stumbled over this gem, since Rik n Ade are not very well known in my home country of Germany. I for myself was hooked in an instant about those two guys and their dynamic play. So rest in piece Rik, and thanks for making me laugh in tears, especially when the candle in your eye scene played out.
I've achieved a lot of my ambitions in life, but it's so sad that I never made it to see Rik live. I used to watch Bottom with my grandpa when I was a kid (don't judge him for it, it gave me one hell of a sense of humour!!!), and I always wanted to go to one of his and Ade's shows. It just goes to show you never know when your time is up. RIP Rik, and thanks for teaching me not to take life too seriously and laugh at myself.
