    ►SCRIPT
Now, let’s say you’re mixing, and you’re having a bit of trouble beat matching or finding a way to mix in the next song - like you wanna change genre’s or go to another BPM range.
What can you do to do just that in a synch?
Well, we can implement method number 1 which utilizes an echo effect, and a properly placed cue point.
    So it works like this:
While the currently playing song is playing, make a cue point on the next track, at a section where the song really begins - like when its vocals drop, or when a familiar melody kicks in.
Then when you plan to mix in the next song, simply activate an echo effect on the currently playing song, and bring down its volume fader, then as the echo lingers, play the next via the cue point we just made.
Do you ever find yourself mixing the next song in and you realize that you’ve triggered and played the next song too early or too late in a mix?
Now, you can’t go back in time, and re-cue and play the track at that perfect transition point, so we need to find a way to offset those number of beats - so this is where trick number 2 comes in.
I call this the emergency loop trick and it works like this:
When you realize you’ve mixed in too early in a song, simply make a 4 beat loop on the song you’re mixing in
And if you realized that you’ve mixed in the next song too late, just make a 4 beat loop on the song you’re mixing from.
Now, one of the reasons why you may mix in the next song too early or too late in a mix, could be because of your timing. Perhaps you simply didn’t trigger the next song on time at the transition point.
So to assist with your timing, we’re gonna use trick number 3, which is to activate Quantize.
Now, what quantize does basically, snaps cue points and loops to the currently playing songs beat grid.
And this concept is easier demonstrated than stated, so here’s a quick example of a how a track will react when I trigger its cue points with quantize disabled.
And here’s how the track will react with quantize enabled
Notice the difference? So the software will try to fix your timing so that when you trigger a cue point -when a track is currently playing,
the software will make it align perfectly with the master decks beat grid which should be the currently playing song.
And this will help greatly when triggering the next song and even making perfectly timed loops.

Another great trick is to use beat jump function if you mix in to early or to late.

    • @typicalaimster
      @typicalaimster Před 4 lety +5

Agreed. I've used the beat jump function to jump back or forward a few beats when I've missed my cue point. You can also use the beat jump function to build hype out of a mistake. Just have to practice doing it.

I've also used this when I realize I'm way too late in the song to have time to mix in the next song well... kinda like a loop after the fact

I have to say emergency auto loop because if I’m off by a certain amount of beats my brain will immediately go to the loop section so it’s the most natural for me. The echo effect is useful for anything and everything too! It gives the song that extra kick in the transition!

All amazing tips. Only would like to ask to use less controller fx pads or controls and use more beat effects on the mixer or cdj loop controls just so it’s a good habit to pick up for more club set ups as bringing our own controllers to a club/bar can be less convenient for some

Great video. What are the odds that's what I implement on my mixing.

Scenario #2 because I cant relate to it. 🙈 Its happened to me a few times already and when it does I feel so bad it don't enjoy my set because I'm afraid to make the mistake again. Defiantly gonna try this trick.😁

i have been adding loop points into end of songs in the event I can't get the next track ready in time, I can loop till I am ready to slowly mix in the new track. I prep using Traktor.
