    ►SCRIPT
So the first thing you should do, is try to find two complimentary songs, that sound good with each other.
So try to find songs that are in the same Genre, and are around the same BPM and KEY. And key is the most important factor here.
So a technique I like to apply in double drop mixing is key syncing.
Activating this feature, automatically adjusts the keys of two songs loaded, to be complimentary, or the same with each other. And this really speeds up the process of finding those two special songs.
Now the idea of double drop mixing, is to have two songs play their drops at the same time.
So, in order to always get that timing right, I personally always mix during the build up section.
So what I do, is create a cue point on both songs, 32 beats away from the drop.
So cue point A on the 1st song, is where we want to trigger our cue point A on the 2nd song.
This way we are 100% certain that both drops will happen at the same time.
The second step now involves playing the 1st song, then mixing the 2nd song at that cue point A section, and awaiting the drop section.
Once you’re there, we proceed to step 3 where you fade back and forth between the 1st and 2nd song.
Now the general rule of double drop mixing is to fade in and out either the 3rd or 4th beat of a 4 beat interval, at varying beat lengths between 1 to 2 beats
So once you reach one of those sections on the 1st song, quickly fade to the other song, and play that section for 1 to 2 beats, then fade back to the 1st song.
Remember that you are not limited to this pattern. Try to mix things and experiment to find out which sections sound good with each other.

DJ Carlo Atendido we appreciate the recognition for it, that’s for sure. Probably the biggest DnB DJ, ANDY C - he and a few others really pioneered it: avoiding bringing in a tracks intro into the mix, only using it to initially beat match on it’s way to the second drop of the existing track then BOOM - Now ANDY C has been triple dropping. And yes at first I thought “NOISE” but his selection for those are perfectly in key and sparse enough that he does it and does it well. Technology has brought us a long way and most use it to perform less. This shows you that the best of us use tech to do more in the mix.

As for your question, since I'm a bedroom DJ (just over a year) and I record all of my mixes, I stop the mix entirely and replace the track or play it differently. • @liamblu
    @liamblu Před 5 lety

Hey Carlo, nice video, I will try that out.
Just need to share with you my last two nights.
Since I go to Indonesia this year, I prepared a "Good Bye Party" at the day before yesterday. DJ Mützang, who is Indonesian and a good friend of mine, we were playing for our friends and it was a really awesome night with only 20 to 30 people in a large night club. :) EDM, Hip Hop, high energy.
And then yesterday two friends of mine were celebrating their birthdays. At one of these parties people's average age was above 40 and they usually listen "Deutscher Schlager" - German Schlager - not a thing for young people usually and found on October Fest or other very landly events. However, I ended up putting up the RX2, setting up the boxes with my friend (who once was sound technician) and loading my USB. For a couple of hours I played Ambient House, Deep House, Tropical, Nu Disco, slow Hip Hop and Rap, even mixed Pop for the very first time. People (and my friend) came to me, complimenting how smoothly I mixed, how great the atmosphere was. I was very charmed by that. Most of the time, I was on Energy 1 to 2, but it felt so nice mixing in this relaxed atmosphere. It was a great weekend for me and I think ambient music is my thing right now.
I would really like to know what you think about ambient club sounds, pop music and relaxed mixing (e.g. Camelphat's Cola and Pretty Pink's Get Lucky Remix). Maybe you can cover that in a video.
Cheers and thanks for the double drop idea, really appreciate it.

Twenty years ago there was no time to be bored behind the decks. Way too busy trying to find that next record in my bag, matching it's beats with the playing record's tempo and making sure to do that on time before the other's songs mixing out section starts. The fun started when you were already beatmatching and figured out it would not be a good mix and you'd have to find another record and get that beat matched as well. Good luck trying to do that nowadays with songs that are just three minutes long!
