  • Biographical maps use pictures, photos, and notes to take you back to a particular time in your life. You can make a map about your childhood home, your teenage years, a holiday, or moving to a new town. See www.manchester.ac.uk/biographi... for lots more information!
Instead of trying to fit your memories onto a timeline, biographical maps hook your memories onto important places or journeys. So if you are making a map of your teenage years, you might include photos of your old school, downloaded images of school buses, notes about your favourite nightclub (and music) and so on.
Download our print-at-home illustrations to get you started: www.manchester.ac.uk/biographi...
You don't need any special equipment, just paper, pens and maybe some photos or pictures. You can make a map for your own pleasure, or to share with friends and families. Groups can make maps together.
Biographical mapping was developed as part of the Girlhood and Later Life project www.manchester.ac.uk/girlhood-... at the University of Manchester. The project was funded by the ESRC.
