    I've had one of these for about a year now and its a beast, no problems so far and its chrome....I also have the small portable DeWalt shop vac that uses the Battery, its powerful for its size and perfect for cleaning vehicles and odd small things, couldn't be happier with both of them.

    Thats a awesome shop vac. DeWalt makes good stuff. Now you should make a dust separator to go with it. This way you dont fill up the bag or clog up the filter.

      I'm thinking that's a thing that will happen eventually, but probably not until I have a permanent home for my lathe, because currently it takes up too much of the rest of the room under the bench for me to house anything else of substance down there.

      @WoodenThingsAndStuff  Před rokem +2

      I don't know the port size on the Dewalt jobsite saw, but if you have the right adaptor, it should work fine. Generally you'd want something more in the way of a "dust collector" (high volume low pressure) to get the most dest removal from a table saw, but a "shopvac" type thing like this (low volume high pressure) would be better than nothing, for sure.

      @@WoodenThingsAndStuff Thanks, just wondering the quality of the metal. If the magnet sticks it's not really 'stainless' steel, not going to stand up for long because it's going to rust overtime, esp. when it gets banged up. I want to get it to replace my ShopVac that's way too bulky and the buttons now stuck in the on position.

    • @WoodenThingsAndStuff
      @WoodenThingsAndStuff  Před 4 lety +2

      Just went and checked, and yes, a magnet sticks to the side. And if it lasts until it rusts I'll have gotten my money's worth out of it.

    • @mintyfresh084
      @mintyfresh084 Před 29 dny +1

      I found this info on the web: Stainless Steels and Magnets
      Steel is a metal that magnets stick to because iron can be found inside steel. However, stainless steels comprise a large group of steel alloys that are made of different metal compositions. While some have more chromium, some might have more iron in them. That is why you will find that while some types of stainless steels are magnetic, other stainless steel types will not make magnets stick to them, providing answers to age-old questions “will a magnet stick to stainless steel?” and “why are some metals not magnetic?” Stainless steel is often used in a wide range of home appliances, so if you experiment, you might find that your fridge magnet sticks to your oven but does not stick to your rice cooker

    Thanks for the vid
    Considering buying the Australian version of this for my garage/home gym, seems to be one of my best bets at the top of the budget range and its specs seem to be way better than a few similarly priced rivals.
    Has it held up well for you?
    Costs a bit more over here, $299AUD (around $230USD), though I think we get a 6m long cord (other models seem to be 3m)

    • @WoodenThingsAndStuff
      @WoodenThingsAndStuff  Před 3 lety +1

      Can't speak to longevity yet, because it hasn't even been a year, but I use it a ton and haven't had any problems other than not realizing the bag is full before it's too late to get it out cleanly. You definitely want to replace your bag before it's full or the intake part on the inside of the cannister gets in the way when taking it out, rips the bag open and makes a huge mess.

    • @redwhiteandblueblood
      @redwhiteandblueblood Před 3 lety +1

      @@WoodenThingsAndStuff cheers for that
      Looks like a 5 pack of replacement bags are around $15-20AUD here, I guess I'll get a few months out of that.
      I was considering a shredder vac too as alot of leaves/grass clippings/insects get in under doors etc, but my mum has an el cheapo and it's no good for dust so I'll probably just borrow hers whenever i need it

    • @redwhiteandblueblood
      @redwhiteandblueblood Před 3 lety +1

      Ended up purchasing one on Friday
      Only a couple of minutes to unbox and screw the wheels on and put everything in place, night and day a huge upgrade on the little cordless handheld I was using previously, was an absolute joy to clean up the garage with quickly and efficiently.
      It seems to be exactly the same as your model, just with the 38 litre branding instead of 10 gallon branding. I will have to let my supplier know It's a 3m cord, not the 6m they listed online, good thing it has that attachment pouch though, so I'll put an extension cord in there (was going to probably need one anyway to vacuum the car or something)
      I think I'll only use the bag for really dusty applications, seeing it'll suck up all sorts of things in the meantime, but yeah thanks again for the helpful video
