Now they're back with the Starfield 2, a sequel that improves on the original's technical performance, but takes a decidedly less mainstream tuning direction. Does it work? Let's talk about it.

Apparently, Moondrop did a good job on the second versions of their classics. I liked Starfield 2's aesthetic a lot too.

Thanks Mr. Ryan. The asterfield and the KBEAR Believe we’re my first two IEMs and I have to say, over the years, I reach for the KBEAR Believe more often. After trying the new Starfifield that is unlikely to change. The Believe is still the more relaxing IEM to me.

The midrange timbre of Believe is very good.
Loved the original Starfields, was hoping they made something with similar tuning but with a better shell and fit
i thought the size, the fit and comfort especially sleeping with them in was one of the strongest features of starfield.. that and its smooth kinda neutral tuning
I've heard this one is perfect to be heard at lower volumes. I mean, one can't simply dare to crank it up. 🔪🙉

Really interested in this one because I really liked the original Starfield. The different tuning was unexpected but I'm still interested, and I'm probably gonna get this. Also, a bright tuning is kinda more fitting because stars haha

After they released Stardust and Stellaris I was wondering if they would make a starfield successor that sounded more esoteric. Then i got my Starfield 2 in and they sure did.
A big disappointment for me but considering they still have the Aria as there mass-market value IEM, I guess it makes sense to change starfield into something else. So I'm not supirsed and I understand the different tuning but I wish they changed the name as many people who loved Starfield may buy this and be very disappointed.

Starfield 2 is a misunderstood gem.
What's your take?
I have so many issues with this IEM compared to the Starfield OG which to be honest was perfect besides the shit cable and paint issues. The Starfield 2 has bad tuning, still not a great cable, lots of brass which actually discolours and attracts moisture, found this out from the Chu 2 which the eartips get wet in my ears and then look horrid. Also I hate the gimmick vent/plug design, another thing to keep track of and question if it's always fixed right otherwise you get a vastly different sound. Like having a constant eartip unseating issue that you can't feel.
These are just a mess for me. OG was 9/10 for sure, these are a 3/10.

How's the paint quality on these?
looking at the FR graph can tell me that this is surely a skip for any treble sensitive peeps. so far my Symphonium Meteors are super good and are my current endgame
Hey Ryan, I'm a huge ssr fan and I've been holding out on this till your opinion. My main grievance with the SSR is the subbass roll-off, do you think the bass is better implemented here?
I don't really have issues with the SSR bass, but Starfield 2 is a bit tighter and better defined.

Do you have a iem tier list? It's getting to the point where I have too many iems. So no more IEMs unless they're spectacular in some way.

Hi! Sorry for the strange question and comparison but is it sounds better than Sony WH1000XM4 if we use them in the same condition? (Wired, with amplifier)
I haven't heard the XM4, but generally those headphones sound best over Bluetooth since they use active digital signal processing to improve the sound vs. the sound straight out of an external source.
I expect I would prefer the sound of the Starifeld personally.
Have you tested if cable material makes any difference ? Moondrop Starfield 2 has silverplated cable. If you change the cable to copper cable would you see it on graph and could you hear the difference. Silver cables are brighter sounding than copper cables but is the difference audible ?

Mm, bass isn't as physical on Starfield 2, only stuff hard to compare apart from FR.

The excess high-end could easily be fixed with EQ in spite of what Dave says.
Seems like a cross between two of my favourite Moondrop IEMs tonally, with decent technical performance and a cable that doesn't blow.
Might be the first IEM in over a year that I'll actually buy. This or Galileo/DZ4.
