Someday John Mayer better be in the top 10 of Rolling Stones greatest guitarists of all time list
Isn't he already?
He is pretty good no doubt
I doubt it. It will happen once the music world in general gives up the stigma that he aint that good cause he does pop. But everyone, even the most guitarhead, blues/rock lovers and mainstream pop haters know he is one of the best ever, and it hurts them deep
@@BijBijTCG not even on the list iirc
@@polonC he’s considered the best of our generation, but the problem with our generation is its too underappreciated. our generation is the most proficient guitar generation there ever was but is sadly underrated because the guitar is dying in the current music scene. not to even mention we got some unknown guitarist who’s even more proficient than some greats before which proves my point more
I love that Jordan and Palladino are still with him.
Love how Pino us just chilling in the back throwing fat bass grooves down, such a character.
I would drink shitty flavourless american beer to see you John!
LOL same.
is that american beer really flavourless? i've never been in u.s btw
LOL
@@dwiaprialdi5347 compared to what other countries consider beer it’s like the water they use at the factory to clean the machines that make the beer
That’s how watered down it is
@@dwiaprialdi5347 Bud Light is, certainly not all American beer haha. Most of us think it's not very good either.
Just another fine example of Pino Palladino being one of the best bass player to ever grace the pocket
Was looking for this comment
Pino just killin' it in the back
Maximiliano Padilla hell yes! Keepin' it all funky with Steve Jordan!
damn hell yeahhh
One of a kind!
Don't really love the song.. But keep watching the vid 'cause of Pino (and Steve)
Pino is straight G. Seems very humble and nice gentleman
Are we not gonna talk about how Steve Jordan absolutely kills it on the drums? And how sick the bell of the cymbal sounds starting at 4:20?! Y'all ain't giving him enough credit!
Oh yeah. Its the drums that really make this song work. And the cymbals. Just what song are you listening to?
Steve Jordan rocks!
He’s extremely gifted! His facilities are phenomenal. He’s a
master, I don’t think he even knows how good he is.
Eric Clapton
lol i love john but he definitely knows how good he is
@@matt_greene i mean yeah he clearly has faith in his abilities, just goes to show how much praise and respect other guitarrists have on him xd
wow
I think he needs to take more risks when it comes to songwriting. He's a talented guitarist but he doesn't showcase it enough, and goes in favour of easy-listening pop songs. He should incorporate more rock and blues elements
Omair Sheikh because pop sells, guitar playing doesn’t
This crowd had no idea the greatness they were witnessing.
Honestly, that goes for most of his concert goers. His brilliance goes right over their heads.
3:22 I love how she grooves with her hands
Damn i want to die , and be reborn as john mayer
I want be reborn as his fingers lmao.. Sorry Im gonna go to my room now and think about what I said
He's already the reborn Hendrix
@@Juliobalthazar ok that's an exaggeration. But ok....I get what you mean. I just wish he would make more blues stuff rather than pop shit.
@@sasmitroy5480 I'm just glad he incorporates blues into his music, no matter what style it is
@@lachlanford1194 ookay sure
2:20 That’s the proper reaction when you see John Mayer soloing live!!!
John Mayer is truly a musician and artist. He is able elicit emotion in notes and chords in a way few masters of the past have and fewer today can. He feels the music and feels him. Thank You John
well said
The girl at 2:20 is from a video where John experiments whether or not a someone would save a seat for their friend if John Mayer tried to sit there. She was the only one who kept the seat and so she was given tickets to John Mayers next show. I guess this was the show she went to 😂
Those rakes at 2:00 get me everytime
Favorite part
Mayer is a great raker
I always comeback to see girl at 3:22 'breaking it down' out of time.😀
What if I say to you that she may be out of time cause of the guy who edited this video? I mean, you could fix this, or even, this could be a take from another moment of the music. =)
She a cutie fasho .. lol
looks like madison cunningham tbh
you can see the lights turning on in the beat before and the same lights going on after (in the girl camera angle), so she was actually on time
@@ciriuns Or maybe John switched up the timing on that part from the original recording
0:07 F for the guy of the phone on the left
Massively underrated as a guitarist
Adrian Moore He’s not underrated
3:58 That solo has everything I want in a solo. AMAZING!
This is honestly his best song he's released since his Continuum days by farrrrrr.
I nominate ''Changing'' especially live with the long outro solo but helpless is also definitely up there
I mean it's bluesy but so many better songs - walt grace? edge of desire?
Yeah I agree that even today this song is still his best one specifically this live version. But based on your comment I think you fully ignored the existence of his songs: Edge of desire, Heartbreak Warfare and Something Like Olivia(Live version is better). Should check those out.
It’s John Mayer’s world. We’re just living in it.
That fender tone
This performance is a masterclass on soloing
2:21 guitar face almost as good as john's lmao
People who say John is not a real musician have never heard him play. Unbelievable hands and skills.
Im back guys to see this epic version again
As a female guitarist I don’t know what’s turning me on: his look or the solo. Probably both.
Better be his playing...😀
😂😂😂😂😂..well I'm a man! I'm confused too😅
Understandable, nothing challenges my sexuality more as a straight dude lol
As a man, I say the same thing.
@@neontrain a friend of mine (straight guy who plays guitar) says the same, I totally get why y'all feel that.
0:16 Dexter planning on his next kill
Its really michael c hall?
@@lukedmc Yes.
Found this by "accident" the other day and was stunned to hear him in such good form again. I'd backed away from him for all kinds of reasons and lost track. I've got some listenin' to do...
What a live performer. One of the best guitarists around
THE GOD OF GUITAR
Mayer takes so many risks on the guitar and pulls it off lol. He looks like he's working hard here tho. Crazy talented
The way he breaks into that second solo gets me every time ❤️
John Mayer said at Kimmel that Ed Sheeran "was killing it". I'm sorry, Ed what? You are killing it, John. Always. Greatest guitar player. Wishing you visit Mexico once.
And India too!
@@adesignerlife sure
special type of ignorance here
@@skateandmusic15 ignorance? I've never seen Ed Sheeran playing along with Buddy Guy, B.B. King or Eric Clapton.
I've never seen Sheeran inducting Stevie Ray Vaughan to the Hall of Fame; I've never seen Sheeran invited to a Michael Jackson memorial and I will never see Ed Sheeran touring, as the lead guitarist, of the Greateful Death.
Surely, we will never see Sheeran having half of the skills that John Mayer has.
Google those names, ignorant centennial fuck.
Rauldiazh that's more special than I thought. Good luck with letting these attitude chains go, it is never too late, kid.
I just saw him at the Toyota center, phenomenal show, absolutely killed Gravity and helpless. Hope to see him another time
JM's music will never be out of style. I think he planned it that way and it is working. It will work forever, ad infinitum. He is the Man and the King ❣💎👑
2:35 oh Jesus that Albert king mode 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎸💋💋💋💋🎸
I thought John Mayer was just a industry pawn... But no. This man is a master musicion make no doubt
Every solo for this song he plays different when playing live. A minor pentatonic with Myxolidian elements. Love the backing track to jam over. Simple song but JM is a genius of course, makes sound it incredible!
As a watch nerd and guitar player who worships JM's play style, cool to see him wearing his AP Concept GMT turb and shredding per norm. Haven't seen him wear something that big since his IWC big pilot days.
Nate Cordova Hey, thanks for the watch ID! :)
new album is great, this was great, still rips live
He has a song for that
Steve going to the ride at 4:20 elevates the groove to a whole new dimension
Dude, please never stop playing the guitar. You are my greatest hope to get at least on par with vaughan, hendrix, and all the great. Since the grammies where you played gravity I knew you had what it takes.
The most listenable guitar player ever
3:02 Girl holding drink is like "I love him"
hand down one of the greatest songs ever written
this grooves harder than I don't need no doctor
We should love him for just that groove he makes at 2:47
What an amazing talent!! Awesome!! Like if you agree.
John Mayer played like all of the great rock guitarists were merging onto his Autobahn. We love his music and rarely does a day go by without his brilliant songs and complex musicality on our waves up here in Canada.
I have to add this: John is the farthest thing from being helpless on planet earth! He's got it going on in everything, even places where some 'may' say not. You're BAD baby. Ba-ba-ba-bad! Helpless is not in your vocabulary. Keep strutting your stuff knowing you are a loved Master, the Man and the King ❣🌟💎👑
We have eternity, it’s eternal 💕💕
Pino and Steve wearing sunglasses reppin' the trio! (Or I'd like to think that's why.)
The same drink that gets me out the door is the same drink that puts me on the FLOOR! So True.
Mayer might be the coolest guy to ever live on this planet. He’s such a bad Ass
Your "guitar faces" 😁😁😁 Love u so much!
Genius mayer!
This song gets me up and out the door in the morning with such happy and positive stride! So groovy! :D
Exactly :)
🌬🎁 🌬🎂 🌬💝 You are on fire👨🎤 and So is 🎵! THANK YOU!and one to grow on..😘 one for the road💞 ...and many more🎂🎂🎂🎂🎵
I'm still in..awe.. That is some piece of real guitar-art that no one can like John Mayer
living legend, make the most of him.
I love that Bass Harmony
John Mayer is killing it
Albert king is strong with this one
why is his crowd never enthousiastic. I mean this guy is one of the best guitarists in the world and they be standing there like ayyy ok.
I went and I thought I’d be super enthusiastic but truth be told you’re actually so shocked of how good he is live you just kinda admire. Easily the greatest music experience I’ve ever and will ever have.
Watch his show on CZcams from Rock at Rio 2013
Freaking L.A. seen it allers
Super, fantastic, love song!!!!❤❤❤💯💯👋👍
Is there anybody Pino Palladino hasn’t played bass with?? This guy rubs shoulders with everyone
The breakdown killed me
GOOD!!! SWEET JOYHN MAYER.
He is great at guitar, songwriting, performing and also singing.
But.. He must be always thanksful to SRV!
So much of SRV in JM songs and approach.
Very confused at how sober this crowd is for a concert that's sponsored by Bud Light
John W it's because bud light isn't beer.
The clue is in the 'Light' part of the name
Iven away toolong
Not everyone needs or wants to get drunk.
Hey, I've gone to my fair share of concerts in my life so far and was either hammered or relatively drunk at them. When I went to see John last year on his A Search For Everything tour, I had maybe 3-4 beers the entire night.
When the music is that fucking amazing, most smart people make the conscience choice to not get fucked up so they can actually listen and appreciate the performance.
That bass line. 💜
and the solo is entirely dedicated to Albert king 🎸👏🏻
mayer is just a guitar wizard 🧙♂️ 🎸
This may be his best tune.
Is this the definition of groove? Of course it is!
Timeless🔥💙🤙
P on the Bass, awesome!
It goes Pastorius, Wooten, J.P. Jones, Claypool and Palladio. Them boys could play the bass like no other.
steve muthereffin jordan w/ pino palladino. these guys are a dream rhythm section. this is fantastic!
4:13 enough pedals? john is the man!
This is the AMAZING John Mayer!
My GOD that tone
How can a musical Legend Like You Can Be Helpless ?
Hey, you've got the sensitivity
Of A B-Tifull Human
You have everything you need to stay in that one day at the time Best cure in the World ❤
The Albert King licks he incorporates into his playing are so cool... a real pioneer of the blues, and a true master of the instrument.
So groovy... gotta love this
So soulful, absolutely awesome💛🎵
john, we love youuuuuu
The Best... You Rock
Yesyesyes...Loving it everytime...
Really cool song 🎶❤️
love you John
I love Helpless!!
💎
I love the whole album
All a musician wants is to enjoy every second on the stage! Like John always does. Special artist, you're my favourite John. :)
My addiction is this song
Your music makes me happy 🙂
