'Don't know why there's wheelie control on a super naked'. 'Luckily, you can turn them all off'. Love it.
I bought a 2017 S1000R and I sure know why there's wheelie control....i don't want to have to change underwear each time I go out with my bike! lol
Marco Brotto my right wrist is my "wheelie control".
yeah of course dude just joking, sometimes you just wanna go fast though and its kind of frustrating having to let go off the throttle..cuz it flips if you dont, consider you also have a quickshifter and there is no time for the bike to lower its nose
Great interview! Who would have thought that Sting was such a motorcycle enthusiast.
*Michael Neeves* is the best part of this review.. apart from the bikes of course! Neeves is relatable and explains his thoughts simply yet instinctively. A joy to watch this review - I've watched it many times. Keep up the good work
Man hes a proper one.
That Aprilia is in my garage right now :-) No I mean that exact one!! Time for a ride...
stop faffing then, we're waiting.
Yeah, Chop-chop! (Sorry, that must be so very old.) Again, is there a reliable dealer (SE)?
How would you say the 17 is over the 16 Factory ?
There a quite a few updates, newer Ohlins forks, brakes are a huge improvement, big electronics update and of course that amazing dash. 16 model is still fantastic but the 17 is a big improvement imo..
haha, first video uploading currently :-)
many bugs were killed during the shoot out 😂😂..glad to know the tuono still the king of super nakeds
errr. Think you'll find that's mph ;)
marurider lol 😂😂..yeah exactly, even the later tuono v4 feels much superior than the newer nakeds
Hi bang, kecik je youtube ni bole pula terserempak, dah mcm baazar je 😂😂
I LOvE the Tuono but with no aprilia dealer in my state (utah USA) and the FZ10 being so much cheaper (dealer selling them in California new with full warranty and a Yamaha reliable crossplanecrank crank , there was NO decision to be made! I saved nearly $7,000 over the new Tuono. As much as I love the Tuono, the sound of the CpC has that same note and reliability with the same dodads for a lot less $ you can take that $7,000 and retune , put a full system if desired (in changing to the Austin Racing full system ) and still leave $5,500 for speeding tickets! 😉 I wish they had tested with control tires , there's no doubt as much as they bragged about how amazing the grip and tired were on the Tuono and how bad they were in the fz10 it played a part in positive in their decision. If you threw the worst tire on one bike and he beat on another you will lean the way of the bike with the best becasue you can't fully enjoy the bike with the crappy tire. Just a thought. Not knocking the Tuono, if I had had an aprilia dealer here and the prices were not so far apart I'd of bought the aprilia. If I was a millionaire if buy the aprilia but I'm not so value and reliability have to play a part for me. All of them are unreal and I'd take ANY one of them tonrow! But feel lucky to have the new FZ10 in my possession! Truly the most amazing bike I've ever rode , I'll never buy another superbike , I enjoy this FZ10 so much more than I did my last new R1.
I wouldn't even out the MT10 in the same league as the Aprilia. Really it's nowhere near as good
Read the MCN article on this and found this much more entertaining, with the increased quality maybe time for MCN to focus more on their CZcams content and increase revenue from adverts. Great job MCN and Neeves
The Incredible Sulk thank you 😊
WOW! Taken MCN a long time but quality vids like this are what you need to do more of.
Great review and explanation by Mr.Neeves.
Thanks for the kind words mac46rr . We're trying and with our viewers input we'll get there :)
12:30 *THE MAN SPEAKS THE TRUTH* on my naked sport bike i feel the speed, and the wind, i rode a sport bike and i was doing double the limit (in mexico) and i couldnt even feel it...no point in riding sport bikes on the street when you cant even feel anything
Picked up my 17 Tuono last Friday...she's a beast and I couldn't be happier with it! Well, maybe if it was a bit better on gas!
2 years later... still have the Tuono? If so, how has ownership been?
I just bought the FZ10 and I've owner several R1's, ,1000RR, Ducati superbikes etc and I can truley say the FZ10 (mt10) is the most insane and rediculous bike I've ever had the privledge to ride ! The power may be less than the R1 but the same crossplanecrank motor retuned for street and a broad torque from stop makes it a much more fun and brutal street superfighter! Even in standard mode and TC3 it's SO impressive! Put it in B-mode and TC1 and it's much more bike than I think anyone can handle unless you race professionally. It'll take superbikes out from the hole, passing anything is effortless, and it's absolutely the most flickable and easy to maneuver bike I could ever imagine. My first supernaked and my R1 I jsut sold will be my last superbike, the times the supernakeds are clocking at tracks are better than a lot of superbikes and u can ride there and home with cruise control, upright seating position that's extremely comfortable and enjoy a ride across the country! Any of these supernakes I'd take but as insanely cheap as the fz10 was it was no decision for me. A local Yamaha dealer had several and dumped it for several thousand $ under msrp. Look nationally they are selling for nearly half a new R1!!!???? Do yourself a favor and get one! 😍
Pity it's the ugliest thing ever conceived.
Lingenfelter Zee Ohh Six I've got the MT10, had it from release here in the UK. I echo what you say; the most insane fun, practical, comfortable bike I've ever owned. When I bought the bike was under £10k here which was fantastic value. Done 5000 trouble free miles and still love it.
Not to mention they get much less scrutiny from the cops.
Lingenfelter Zee Ohh Six dont try the Factory tuono like a Frend of main wich owned a s1000 r and he was happy with the s1000r.I just said to him dont try the Factory but he doing any way.Now he just sellig the s1000r and waiting for the Factory. And i have sai dont try this fucking Tuono because it happens this what is happing. For everybody dont try the Tuono🤣🤣🤣🤣
paul klees odd, here in my place there are 2 tuonos for sale and the owners are instead going for ducatis and an MT-10.
I'm sure the tuono is very good but I think in some ways it is over hyped.
Pointed out a huge fact about NAKED BIKE ,that "BETTER SENSE OF SPEED" , love that ..,
Regardless of outcome (just watching now!) thank you for doing this!!!! Gorgeous machines all around!
Outstanding breakdown of the Super Nakeds. Great job guys.
KTM 1290 looks so mean...damn
T.Sharat Kumar DREAM BIKE
@@kendrickgoat I got one, 2019 model. Smiles all around.
couldnt be happier with my 2016 tuono factory, awesome bike😎✊
jorgoshki l love my 16 Tuono Factory as well..and my 07 Tuono commuter with 75k on the clock
Yep me too. Went from MV Agusta to a '16 Tuono Factory - great bike
How did you like the MV? Which one did you have?
Rob Sharp I installes oxford heated grips in April. super happy!
Rob Sharp yeap I agree
Just saw the results. I tested the 2016 version of all of these bikes (standard fz-10, no sp in the US) and I had the exact same order! Bravo MCN!
Kischardio Thankyou. :) don't forget to share 🙂
I love this review the best out of all your video's!!! I think it's because of distance you guys rode and just an casual overview of honest feelings about all the bikes. :)
Great comparo! Thanks guys!
Gotta say when price is considered, MT 10 really shines. Non SP versions here in Canada are going for near $13,000 CDN (2017 end of model year sale prices), and are absolute bargains. So cool that at that price is in the same league as these other fine Super Nakeds that cost so much more.
I love the casual interview style review
Thanks ReedSta4 ... mixing it up a bit. Don't forget to share :)
Love the roads, countries you drive through. Beautiful!
Nice one Michael...Quality vids & content from MCN...✊
Well done MCN, Neevsey - i can tell you love that bike, i feel it when you say you didnt wanna give it back... worth every penny just for that v4 roar!
Since you have improved your production quality I will now subscribe.
MCN returning to form! Love to see more of this
Thanks Rick McB. We appreciate your kind words :)
I was considering the Tuono and S100R before but for reliability and big bang for a buck, aside from getting a big discount from the dealership, I went to the MT 10 and its sitting on my garage for almost a year now, not comparable to the others in terms of breaks and TFT displays but I'm glad I did, I'm loving every second it it riding. It has more than enough power for my riding skills.
I think the Aprilia and KTM are top of the class supernaked bikes
@York996 Yep, So much grunt and character of the V Twin.
The best MCN review ive seen, brilliant, interesting, informative, and impartial. These are all the traits needed for a superb bit of journalism, well done boys.
FINALLY took you long enough with superbikes and mumbo jumbo!
The sound of that Aprilia is insane. I recently went to a trackday and there was an assortment of R1, GSX-R and all the common suspects PLUS an Aprilia RSV4 RR. The damn thing made all the other bikes sound like scooters, even with it's stock exhaust! A huge, deep roar.
Diego Leiva must have not been any crossplane r1's there becaue the crossplane 4 in Yamahas R1 and MT10 sounds jsut like Aprilia v4.
That Hornet bro at 4:40 killing it! Love to see one of the first true naked sports bikes to emerge still out there today. Picked up my first hornet this year and love it to death, it's the best of all sides of motorcycling. It would be awesome to see somebody do a true comparison between a newer sports naked and the older ones like the Hornet, bandit, B-King, and the monsters too. I just wanna see how much more that extra $10,000 gets you.
My first big bike was a 600 hornet and I bloody loved it .bulletproof as well.
Really great video, with fantastic quality. But for the next time please more of that driving scenes of the beginning! BTW nice to see you driving in germany :)
Great videos chops. Just purchased a new 2019 factory . Can’t wait to get on her !! Keep up the good work.👏👏👏
I love MCN - I don't think I've ever bought a bike without checking out mcn.com first, and well this channel is just great, great vid. Cheers.
Thanks MCProcrastinator. Be sure to share and spread the word :)
Great job guys, very detailed review. Thanks!!
Excellent guys, count me in on your next test !
I got a 2021 mt10 last week. Is AWESOME!
Wow a great quality video you've done it at last!!!
D C ... Thankyou 🙂
Great review Neevesy, and that Pril with that road...
the screaming sound of the tuono will never get old...so cool
I take the super duke R, amazing engine with torque , sound and smooth in same time
Supernaked are nowadays superior to superbikes on the road. No argument there.
My R1 disagrees.
Roman Jurco unless you go triple digits lol
TJ Yeah i understand im making a video about why nakeds are awesome. But not for me i ride top end often
Arguably Superbikes make better touring bikes. I rode to the B500 last year and was jealous of my mates on their superbikes. Each to their own.
TJ what are you talking about. you sound like you don't know that superbikes have torque as well as well as the speed... what you too scared to ride in high rpms? lmao give me a break. just ride a super bike at high rpms lower gear if you want that instant "torkes" you lose nothing except a little more gas maybe?
Really well done comparison video!
Thanks PistolPete63 ... don't forget to share the love 🙂
Thank you for a great review
Thanks for the kind words Frank Malone ... Dont forget to share :)
Michael, every time you speak about the Tuono you put a smile on my face because...I OWN ONE! And I feel exactly the same when I ride it! :D
Great style of interview!
Thanks Jens Bogaert
Great review I recently bought an FZ10. I’m still trying to get used to the new body position coming from a Fireblade.
Man I miss the analog gauges
dpajc056 I thought it was just me.
I love that my 2016 tuono rf has the old dash, looks more old fashioned but i really like analog tachs
ditto here... only thing we miss on the 16's is the down blipper.... our stock can is nicer too
I personally HATE these TFT dashes, it's like having an ipad taped to the front. Completely pointless, expensive and another stupid point of failure.
Yup same goes for the new R1M. That's an iPad.
Phenomenal video. Of course I'm biased since my bike won. 😎 no surprise there 👊🏻✊🏻
Drove the B500 a couple of weeks ago and have never wanted to be on my bike more in my life. An absolutely amazing section of road and now on my Bucket List, but on two wheels. Quality video and I like Neeves....very matter of fact and easy to listen to!
A.J. Baird, do you also "DRIVE" your horse ? ;-)
"Its a little bit agricultural." - The funniest thing I've ever heard
Not sure why, but I'm passionate about motorcycles. I love riding my naked 650 round town. Something about the acceleration, freedom, and wind is amazing.
Bravo, well done.
i am riding bmw s1000rr but i had to agreed that Aprilia V4 is much more fun
Great! Thanks for this excellent video!
Great vid. I would like to know how you rate the new tuono over last years. Has the euro 4 affected it much. will there be a comparison vid.
My 2018 tuono factory turns up Saturday can't wait.
But I did love my 1290r great bikes
Guys, had I known you were around my hometown of Strasbourg, I'd have bought you a few pints ! (After the test of course) Glad you enjoyed the B500. And by the way : thanks for your videos, unlike your french counterparts you don't simply rehearse PR texts, you can't imagine how refreshing it is and I could listen to Michael talk about bikes all day. Cheers !
Hey Valkan1000. Beers are on you next time! Thanks for your kind words! :)
quality journalism!
Rode the B500 for the first time last week, quite a lot of tyre marks heading off into the scenery there :X
nice review
Great insightful vid
Great quality video, for sure! Was the Monster 1200R on the list of bikes to try to compare? It is down on hp compared to these bikes but certainly is designed for the style riding you all were doing. Just wondering. Thanks!
EXCITED waiting for mine to arrive :)
Disclaimer: No insects were harmed during filming of this video.
Very good job guys, I had to sub, keep up the great work!
Hubert Baron 😂 ... Thankyou.
Those roads look so nice. Neighbor just got back from a 10 day ride through Germany, Austria and north Italy. Asked about the roads and he said they were almost all in really nice condition. Here in Kali, you constantly scan for potholes, dips, heaves, dirt, debri, etc.
if i had only one bike i could own for the rest of my life, i'd pick the superduke. it truly is a beast, all others try to emulate, but fail to duplicate.
great break down, and reviews.
I love mine.
Great review lads. Did you keep any stats on fuel consumption. As you were doing some long motorway stints it would be good to know how far you were going between fills and which one used the most juice. I presume the wind resistance means they drink more than a sports tourer or a fully faired super bike version but as all new bikes seem to have piddly little tanks these days you could forever be searching for a service station.
Sooo much fairings on that "naked" Aprilia.
its like they took the full fairing drew a line and said yep cut them off here lol its not the best looking however its handsdown the best sounding of them all
Look at it again. Almost no fairings, just a pure beauty, any way you look at it.
Well done to mcn! this is what we are waiting from you guys , proper tests! i am Part exchainging my 1290 GT for a mt-10 Sp soon
Tan Cakar Thankyou for your words. Be sure to share :)
Tuono sounds killing !
Tuono is the sort of bike everyone dreams of - go round corners on rails, plenty of nice smooth, predictable power, confidence inspiring, makes you look good.
Well done!
Dear MCN Team, please take a look for the Schottenring in Germany..this is like Nordschleife..back in the days it was a Racetrack now its in the normal street network..there are also curbs... this would be very interesting for bike testing. Best regards from Switzerland
I've been waiting for this review since I saw the pictures on Twitter from the trip. Sooo.. where can I order my Aprilia Tuono !!! ?? Love it !
Thanks for the words Mike K. Don't forget to share :)
Great review, but... Can we really call the Tuono a Super "Naked"? It's at best a semi-naked, which is just as exciting (right ladies?), but it's got much more of a fairing than the others. Interesting though that it wasn't labelled with having the best wind protection, so what do I know?!? Still, looks more like a superbike than a true naked bike.
YarekBalear tuono is a new Class of Supernakeds this is the Reason because you can only compare to the s1000r.Classic nakeds are like a Ducati Monster,Kawasaki z1000,KTM but not realy its more a savage Supermoto,The Tuono is a New Class wich no existing before Aprilia came with this than BMW makes allmos the same like Aprilia.Aprilia it was the First Factory wich makes Naked from the Superbikes and this from 2002 this Guys now how to build Supernakeds😎
I have a 2018 Aprilia Tuono and I have to say, it really is THAT good!!!
If i only knew you guys were on my home-course, would have payd a visit ;)
PaddyWestside Come and find us next time 😉
Who’s doing this me or you? Love it!
I owned a Super Duke GT.
Just recently bought a low mileage modified MT10. U.S., so no SP version available.
The way it is set up I’m guessing it is a “poor man’s” Tuono, never ridden one.
I was considering a used Tuono, found a couple of good deals.
Though they were still several grand more than the MT10 I bought.
But couldn’t get past the nearest dealer being 3 hours away.
Mine has:
-Cat removed and ECU flash, which probably gets the HP close to a stock Tuono. (No db killer in the stock can and it sounds amazing)
-Lowered handle bar clamps and R1 rear sets, which probably makes the riding position similar to the Tuono.
-R1 rear shock.
-Suspension was set up for track focus.
-R1 front and rear master cylinders.
-Other nice mods - CRG bar end mirrors, aftermarket levers and grips, frame and axle sliders, engine guards, integrated tail lamp, fender eliminator.
Granted with the mods it is probably 50-60 lbs lighter than the stock SDGT.
But hands down handles better. Can take corners at higher speeds easier, while the bike is more stable and confidence inspiring.
Seat of the pants, below 5k rpms the MT10 pulls harder, 5k-8k the SDGT does but not by much, over 8k to redline they feel evenly matched.
All great bikes, for it's the 1290 Beast for me.
Just purchased 2020 1290 R, what a machine! Damn thing is so quiet, after 1week of ownership order Austin slip-on in about 30 minutes going to install it, it's 3am just too hot in that garage during the day. 🇨🇦
An extremely well made video and comprehensive test. Agreed that the Tuono is the best .
However have you considered reliability issues in your ranking ?
It is well know fact that Japanese bike are more reliable than their european counterparts. And this matters on a day-to -day basis.
So the MT-10 should be the best ?
What are your thoughts and experiences with these bikes?
i live very near to the Black Forest und the Vosges and also very near to the B500 road. My favorite Bike is the Yamaha MT 10 SP ! It´s simply the real universal "weapon" among all this fantastic power nakeds :-)
Greetz from Germany
nice job guys u have made a good dicision👍👍
thank u guys.keep updates like this as always
Compliments on a fine review and very balanced assessment. My personal choice was the Aprilia 1100 RR and I have no regrets given that the only major difference between it and the Factory is Sachs instead of Ohlins, and I do not have the talent to feel the difference. I did have a Factory for four days, and it was a joy, but the price difference was substantial and for my skill level I have lost nothing.
I owned a BMW S1000R for a year, and loved it, but i just bought a Tuono V4RR. and i had a bad front wheel slip into a roundabout (cold weather, tyres never had that leanangle before, and maybe something spilled) i have not ridden it much yet because of the weather, but i hav not completely found myself trusting it yet. rode the BMW to get a new battery for the prila, and its stable and trustworthy. before that ride, i was sure i would sell it. now im not so sure. but i think once i get the tires warm on the tuono i can start trusting it more. but damn, it sounds good with an akra on it :-)
well one of my favorite vids! question though. I own a 16 superduke SE, 14 s1000r Premium, 16 aprilia tuono factory. I feel crossed.lol
am I missing out on the new models? Should I regret my purchases? why no fz10 sp in the us? what a bummer.
the MT and the Tuono sounds the best
Thanks for the shoot out! But I didn't like the format of this one compared to your others. I like hearing from more than one rider!
Tuono still KING!
Raad Hamudi the Best Naked on Market also the Power of the Motor the Tuono puts on the rear wheel close the same Power like the new CBR???Its gonna be Testing on Dyno also the Guys hoo testing the Tuono on Dyno can not belive how much Power the Tuono puts to the rear wheel🙄
Raad Hamudi but it's so unreliable and parts are SO expensive , and there's NO dealers in America (wel within 1400 miles of me) . Solve reliability and you have my money.
Been seeing you repeat this ...it’s jus not true anymore. Owned 2 with many many miles...not one issue. And here in Cali I have 2 dealerships within an hour of me...s’all Good. Best bike I’ve ever owned in 30+ years of riding. Go sell the reliability issue somewhere else. Ducati’s and Aprilia’s are just as solid as anything else...
Aprilia Tuono 1100 Factory, the crack cocaine of motorcycling, I've just had a blast today on my very own in the lovely North Yorkshire countryside. Loved it. I'm so glad I listened to +MCN Neeevesy, +LambChopRides and +ZackCourts on their reviews of this bike.
You can't go wrong with any of these!
My pick would be the MT 10... the way it looks is awesome...
I have the old Ducati monster s2R 1000, I try too many naked and street fighters from the new generation, the tuono 1100,is amazing bike 🚀🚀🚀, the v4 engine is very close in moto GP !!!(excellent review)
How would you compare the 2017 Tuono RR in this group ??? Please send reply
Did they sort out the overheating-not starting issues on the aprilia?
How did that tuono pass euro 4 when it's that loud stock?!
A stright pipe is a must on anything later than 2016. That sound is just pure sadness. It's depressing.
Alan Wang #36 wouldn't mind seeing how good they can make the bikes sound and doing some testing based off that!
When you flat out the throttle and the bike doesn't scream, it's like when you love a girl and she doesn't love you back.
great vid guys, I have been looking forward to this, only thing I could say is more wheelies would be better viewing. the Tuono is also the only 1 that is drop dead gorgeous In my opinion. cheers
annabanna666 wheelies on the road. We couldn't possibly do anything like that 😉
oh right...... maybe you should film in "Mexico" ahahahahah. fair call mate cheers .
beautiful, my cbr1100xx is getting long in the tooth but still love it, perhaps one day
MCN please do Super Sport vs Super Naked!
