    National record holder OP Jaisha collapsed after completing her 42 kilometre run at the Olympic Games in Rio. Speaking to TIMES NOW, she revisits her ordeal, stating Indian officials were not present at the water stations to offer her a bottle of water.
    Jaisha narrates she is lucky to have survived the run after being unconscious for close to three hours without being attended to.
    Jaisha's condition is an example of the apathy that Indian athletes face due to negligence and errors of a few bureaucrats who hog the limelight using the athletes as a demo.
    On THE NEWSHOUR, we ask, does Jaisha's story expose the plight of Indian sports?

    She says that she didn't want to fall in the middle of the track to save her life because that would mean a shame to India. She knew very well that she cannot complete the full run at 42 degrees burning sun (Stupid Rio - the athletes had to run 45 kms from 9:30 to 12:30 ! What a timing !) "ALIVE" so she prayed God to allow her to complete the track before she falls dead so that the country's honour be saved ! And on the finishing line - she died. And miraculously God gave her a new life.
    Had she saved her life by falling half way through, some would've said, "Rio Jao. Selfie lo, aadhe raasthe mein giro, khaali haath waapas aao. What a waste of money." And later would've stuck to it saying, "They go in MY tax money. I have a right to say this. I will not apologise" or something stupid like, "I spoke about the netas". Come on, you spoke about the netas ? Really ? That's funny.
    Anyways, someone has proved that they can die for this country irrespective of what this country does to them during the Olympics or afterwards. Jaisha, we need you. Meri umar bhi thujhe lag jaaye. And that is not the "Aashiwaad" you asked. But the aashirwaad "this country" is "indebted" to you. Hats off, our true heroine.

      Absolutely well said +Latha, The officials that didn't do their jobs should be sacked immediately and made to run from Kashmir to Kanyakumari with nothing more than a white langoti.
      More than medal, I think our teams gave their 100% which is more important - rather than the losers didn't do their jobs (which was handing out water bottles & look after the hardworking sports persons)

    • @saritak1708
      @saritak1708 Před 8 lety +1

      i agree that what happened to this athlete is unpardonable.They sports ministry should seek an explanation from officials and fire them ,if he was involved he should also resign but why jump on modi immediately and start blaming him? Did you people do the same thing when Man mohan was PM,No,bec there was no expectation from him at all.He was the first PM who asked to cut down the no of officials that go to Olympics.How could you hold him responsible for officials blunders?i am not saying that he doesnt make mistakes ,he does ,after all he is also a human being but one cant deny the fact he is much better than our former PM,who never responded to anything including national interests . If you make a mistake ,shall i directly blame your parents for that? will you accept that ? Who ever loves this country ,they def like our PM,if you want to call us bhakts ,no problem call us ,as we are truly bhakts of this nation.first time in my life ,i have hopes on my country's development and hopes to give solid answer to pak and china. First time ,i am so relaxed abt pak created problems ,there is some one who is strong running this country,he will take care of them.Unfortunately ,in our country sports persons are not treated well expect cricketers .Hopefully ,this will change.If you are really concerned abt this,wanted an action,plz write it to PM ,if still they dont respond then we will bash modi for this.Current PMO is more active than ever before .I am doing it,so you also do the same.Hope ,we do justice for this athlete .

      Why are u so sensitive about Modi? I just asked, if can give a statement via his PMO official. Is it too much for a PM? I'm ashamed to let down our athlete so are you .. we both elected him ( the PM) to represent us, I have seen all kind of comedies, blame done MMS all the time, the moment we even express a genuine concern, some people get so touchy .. why?
      When he became the PM, the site was opened for ideas/questions .. Day one I sent > bounced back, Day 12 .. same result. Please let us not be in the illusion that our PM who is silent on vyapam scam, black money list, adani pulsese scam, rice scam, lynching , bharat mata ki jai politics .. will take action to our mails. Anyway .. u give it a shot.

    • @saritak1708
      @saritak1708 Před 8 lety

      Esh Sundar i am not sensitive abt anybody but i feel modi is far better than our former PM or any politician today. i cant question his patriotism and national interests .If you are blind abt previous govt scams and atrocities ,i cant help it.Check on google how PMO use to work under old govt and how it is working now? If you dislike somebody , cant help you /.why are you only finding faults in him? Lynching,? didnt people get killed on the basis of religion before? didnt riots happen under 55yrs of congress rule? what is wrong if we call people who dont say "Bharat mata ki jai" as traitors .I dont like people who disrespect my country . why dont you see good things like giving electricity to all those areas who didnt have electricity after 70 yrs of independence,MTCR group,Swach bharat,building toilets,isolating pak,make in india etccc .if you want to continue to dislike him,go ahead and do it.it is up to you.But tell me one thing do you know any other better politician for PM candidate for 2019 election? we salute her for such a promising and daring performance, it takes guts and enormous willpower to do what she has done....! All the officials who went to Rio should be sacked off by the government because this is not a single incidence for which our heads are down in shame...!

    The officials must be brought to book and punished for sure. It is not about selecting the favorites, but denying the person who is representing the country of the most basic requirements for running..unthinkable..

    OP Jaisha, all Indians like me felt very bad and sad when you broke down emotionally and said no body cares for your life. I have to say we all do care and pray for you.
    I appreciate Arnab for taking up these cases and exposing the shameless sports authority of India who has no credibility to be authority, they are not competent, do not have respect and care towards athletes and they are corrupt and enjoy junkets to other countries to enjoy life but do nothing towards sports and sportsmen.
