"We're going from a kind of a light gray to a blue-ish color, I don't know anything about it, my wife likes it, so that's what we're painting with"... every husband ever. Thanks for the tips!!
Holding the brush the way you do is the key! Thank you.
Ryan, I have found all your videos to be extremely easy to follow and very helpful. Thank you for taking your time to create. Keep up the great work.
Whew. This saved me a lot of hassle today. Thank you.
Probably the best video I've seen for cutting in. Thanks for explaining and demonstrating how to cut in corners.
Thank you for showing me a different technique pushing up the paint to the ceiling line
2:16 That's absolutely crazy how you got in that corner, skills
Great video, thank you for sharing! I really appreciate how easy you just made my entire project lol
The first upward stroke along the corner, your brush flicked (or the tip of bristles) the ceiling. A easy fix
Great brush techniques.
The guy that taught me, also added the little harder to see until your shown closely, fine detail of how the leading edge has a slight bead of paint that is your guiding edge.
Keeping that edge, (I think it’s called surface tension in a more technical jargon) makes it work.
Because my hands are actually pretty unsteady, I’m always surprised that I can actually still get good results. As for your ‘wiggle’ technique, I think that’s something I developed because of my unsteady hand.
I can’t write or throw a ball with either hand, but I am ambidextrous when it comes to painting.
Now if I could only learn to enjoy it.
Those little Pelican buckets are the BEST!
Thank you for your expertise and your time sharing this video.
Excellent. Thank you, I feel confident about my upcoming project.
Thank you so much this will help me a lot
Looks great, I’m going to try this. I usually bring the brush towards me but I am gonna try pushing it away like you do.
Thanks, great explanation.
You splatted the ceiling immediately in the corner haha
good info and great brush work
Your so good with the brush :) Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to share your expertise! Time to paint!!!
Have fun!
Very helpful, thank you
i start half an inch below celing and do an 1,5 " first that will allow the brush to slide easier and let the right amount of paint on the brush when cutting
Thank you!
Awesome video! I think I’m too impatient to cut in like that, but I’m gonna try!
I noticed that you're doing what appears to be a 4-5 inch deep cut-line. That's a very wise move on your part! Personally, I like a cut-lune that's at least that deep, and I'll actually use a 5-6 inch cut-line.. just to be sure that I don't bump against the ceiling. I've tried thinner cut-lunes before...and believe me, Brother, it just doesn't work for me. I've ended up getting paint on the ceilings with thinner cut-lines, and to have to go back, and touch up the ceilings in that kind of a scenario, is time-consuming, as you well know.
You've actually given me two new ideas, as to how to do cut-lines...and I thank you very much for that.
Have a great day!
*👍💥 Nice job bro keep up the great work, New* Supporter, I look forward here From you!
Thanks 👍🇺🇸
Wow. You're working on your very nice wood flooring without covers?
Your a "BEAST" 💯
I wish you lived in Indiana. I would hire you to paint my Victorian home. Thanks for the cutting tip
Looks like it's an angled brush. I'll try that out for cutting
How about a video on removing popcorn ceilings? Cut-in tips were great.
Great idea!
3:07 Oops . . . 😉
👍👏🎖🙋♂️
IM. PAINTING. CEILING. TOO.
DO. I. PAINT. THE. WALLS. THAN. THE. CEILING. OR. CEILING. FIRST.
THANKS.
Hi ! Thank you for asking. If you are painting both the ceilings and the walls, then ceilings are always painted first. Both the coats of ceiling paint are done first then we move onto the walls and paint the two coats on the walls.
I have smaller hands and these big brushes are just to heavy for me to handle…maybe do a video for people like me…paint brush alternative techniques…
So, you are cutting in the whole room prior to rolling? Usually, you cut in one wall, then roll that wall before it drys and then move onto the next wall. You will have brush marks above and below windows and above the doors. Use a small roller to eliminate brush marks. P.S., you are cutting in the wall not the ceiling.
You can brush the whole room first if you want. Depends on the colour and rolling technique.
I was looking for cutting in while painting a ceiling, not a wall.
I find it nearly impossible to paint a steady edge at the ceiling.
If anyone needs so practice just let me know I have a whole house that needs paint. 😂
WILL. THERE. IN THE. MORN. 🌹 🤣
Cutting ceilings against a stipple or texture is easy
So if I want to learn how to paint a ceiling, cut in the ceiling, I should look for cutting in wall paint.
This is just a general overview of painting right below ceiling. Can't really see him cutting in. Cam has to focus on the brush and how he control while doing it. I needed detail hands-on demo.
Best way to get the details you say you need is to wet a brush.
Angle brushes have a
‘Chisel point’ to them.
Pretty hard to screw up too bad if you just ease up to ceiling line.
Not really Rocket Science!!
Tip: You don’t need to brush down six inches. Brush down a couple of inches then before rolling the wall run your roller horizontally up around the top.
Second tip: when choosing a dark colour be mindful it will appear darker once all the wall is painted compared to judging it on a small colour chip.
so getting paint on the ceiling doesn't matter then?
Nobody ever looks up anyway! 🤪
Cutting in could be better
Great video, but you're not actually painting the ceiling. Would love to see that.
I don't know a single pro that uses Behr. Hard to take you seriously dude.
It depends on the job. It looks to me that this is a kids room. You can go ahead and pay 70- 80$ for a gallon if you got the money but regular folks wouldn’t care if it’s not Benjamin Moore.
My mom used to tell me that we are too poor to be buying cheap shoes.
Poor technique. I can teach you if you want
😂😂 always one
guaranteed that paint is on the ceiling because you are too high on the ladder. you are cutting the wall, not the ceiling, so you might want to change your title.
😂😂😂😂

Just use tape
Literally impossible on a corrugated ceiling. It leaked, I’ll have to get ceiling molding now. 🫤
