What's Juju Noda up to? czcams.com/video/JQ8rJWaZN6I/video.html
The fact is that they had entire races recorded with commentary, that they never bothered to air... They missed an opportunity to just post it online if not the livestream
I guess in their mind 2023 was just a trial run ready for 2024...could've been done more privately.
@@LawVSI agree with this. They let the young women run the season to work out the kinks. Had the races been aired any problem would have been magnified and the criticism great. Perhaps too much criticism for it to survive. Now the whole series has a year of experience where they could iron out issues without too much scrutiny. Very much looking forward to the coming season.
They are not serious about this formula, 3 years and nothing! Women need to drive with men if they are good enough, if not go play Hockey or Netball, and leave us men alone to our sport! We dont care if Suzi Wolf gets paid or not!
They could try a "winter series" like GT4/3 and LMP3/2 are doing (mainly in sunny countries, like Portugal and Spain) to scratch the itch, while F1 racing does not exist.
I'm following that.. There's no F1 nor MotoGP to have my motorsport scratch.
@@alimantado373 Currently, women have barely any chances to do that. This is a way to increase that chance. This is just a feeder series. A good showing here or just getting experience in cars like that, gives a bit more of a chance. This is no alternative to F1. F1 is not a gendered sport. Women should be able to compete with the right talent, just like men. This is a way to find that talent. That talent will then probably move on to race in F3, maybe F2. To get a chance at F1 just like all the other young talented and not-so-talented drivers in there.
Here's a little fun fact:
I didn't even knew this series existed until september or so. And then I tried watching the highlights, and it felt like watching an amateur race with no commentary. I didn't even knew who the drivers were. So I'm quite happy the FIA are taking it seriously
Oh yes. It clearly showed that FOM were testing things out very publically...which wasn't ideal but better than throwing all their eggs in at once.
You didn't "know", not "knew". The whole "did" is already the past form, so you follow it up with an infinitive. Thanks.
@@goqsane I'm sorry for mispelling a comment from two months ago written in a second language. I've made the world a worst place
@@LeonardoAld you misspelled it? You also misspelled the word 'mispelling', so that's that. No, it wasn't a misspelling. It was you not knowing how to form a sentence in English in the past form. That's fine. I told you how. Now try to apply it!
@@goqsane Alright Captain Pedantic, I'm going to surely do it. But I wil talk bad by purpose to make you mad only
F1 should make all F1 Academy races available free online, and increase exposure and interest
I reckon they'll stream them live.
@@LawVSnot sure about other regions but for the UK it'll just be on skyf1 as far as I'm aware
I would so watch them!
They are actually streaming them live on CZcams in some countries (e.g. Germany)
it's live right now yeah streaming on f1 academy youtube channel so that's good
Gotta watch something while we wait for lewis to get red pjamas
Hopefully during an F1 race weekend.
Plenty of other formulas to watch, they are just not good enough.
@@alimantado373 theres always historic Bathurst reruns
Im happy to say that a lot of Filipinos including me are willing to watch the series because of Bustamante. Ever since she joined Mclaren, it was shown in every national news in the country and the surge of Mclaren shirts I see increased and im not complaining. Im happy and proud to see a Filipina in a top tier team
I can imagine it would be big news to have a Filipino driver partnering with a legacy F1 team in this way.
I think the main thing that must be focused on is getting girls interested in karting at similar ages as boys. Many of the drivers on the f1 grid started around 3-5 years old. It’s seems as though the earlier you start the more time you have to make mistakes and hone in your driving style. I know it’s a quite vague example but Latifi started karting around 13 and we know how his f1 career turned out, while people like Fernando and Max started around 3-4 years old. I think once we get a regular stream of girls into karting in and around that early age range we will see many more actually break through and excel in f3 and f2.
Hamilton started at 8 and look how he turned out.
Absolutely. That's another piece in the puzzle but this is a good start for those who are approaching their late teens. But yes, grass roots initiatives as well as educating young girls that racing isn't just for boys is helpful too.
@@bartekkkoit’s not a strict age range, of course there will be exceptions and incredible natural talents like Hamilton. But I do believe the earlier the better. Bruno Senna another example. Ayrton said how he was even better than himself but after Ayrton’s death his family didn’t want Bruno to continue with his racing which I believe ultimately hindered his progress and why his f1 career was kind of flat
Girls are more interested in horses and dancing. And the few that are interested in carting will not be enough to produce a driver in the caliber of Max or Lewis.
@@babylon4953 Very true and I think that’s mainly down to what’s been embedded unconsciously in our general ideologies of what is seen as ‘masculine’ and ‘feminine’ over centuries. Racing and cars in general has traditionally been looked upon as a male preserve and one that doesn’t fit with traits that have been prescribed to women because when people think of f1 drivers they unconsciously think of the “alpha male, macho, risk taker” type, maybe like a Fernando Alonso who I’m sure you see many refer to as “Chadlonso”, etc. And with 0 women deemed good enough for f1 at this moment in time the big sponsors tend to stay away from them as there just hasn’t been a successful enough woman in junior formula to justify it. My inner Sociology student is coming out so I’m probably waffling at this point.
I remember the F1 Twitter account shared a clip of the end of the F1 Academy race at Monza where the gap was like less than a second, which felt weird considering the fact the race wasn't being broadcast yet they had a clip of it.
It was odd but it seemed like they used 2023 to get things going. Better that than doing it live too soon.
I'm rooting for Doriane Pin. She's been impressive in 2022 LM-GTE and her F4 results are quiet decent so far too.
Her resume is quite impressive. It could be between Pin and Weug
I think that seeing this series broadcasted more will be a good thing. One other way I think that they can increase the exposure is to include F1 Academy into the F1 games, I initially got into Formula 1 towards their early point of 2023 because I enjoyed playing F1 22
It would be cool if it was included for F1 Manager.
As a teenage girl who’s a huge fan of motorsport (and the same age as most of the f1 academy grid) seeing so much criticism and just straight up hate for f1 academy was so disheartening, yes of course there were issues but seeing someone talk about it in any way other than straight up bashing it is such a relief, im a huge fan of your channel anyway but seeing you give f1 academy air time is whilst being so informative is something im very grateful for, thank you for being so thorough 🫶
I'm not so younger than you, but I feel the same as you feel. I'm really happy to see someone as big as Law is in this kind of content on CZcams talking about F1 Academy with such respect and enthusiasm as he did in this video. And I'm so excitaded to watch this 2024 season, I can't wait! :)
You're welcome! Hopefully this will give girls all over the world the gusto to try some karting and get in early without pause.
Fantastic video, Very informative and supportive of the series.
Thanks Lawvs
Juju Noda will probably be the first woman since Lella Lombardi to enter an F1 race. She just has potential compared to "drivers" like Tatiana Calderon and Carmen Jorda. I’m rooting for her.
I don't think Juju has got it yet. She needs to see what she can do in Super Formula first and learn.
@@LawVS well, she’s still better than Calderon and Jorda. Super Formula is great feeder series as it’s now the second fastest behind F1 so it’s a great proving ground. Plus the fact she drove an old F3 as an 11-year old girl makes eyes look towards her. She still has to climb up the ladder, hopefully she got what it takes.
@@Truenofan86 exactly. Calderón is a failure in that regard, she just doesn't want to accept it...
@@staLkerhu the fact is that people look to her and not to the Chadette Lella Lombardi. Who not only was the first Female F1 driver to score points and first openly LGBTQ+ driver IN THE 1970s makes me lose faith in sports media. Lombardi’s story should be made into a movie.
Even with the quotation marks it feels like an insult to actual drivers. "Marketing tricks" feels more like it
Followed to the best of my ability last season. Definitely looking forward to actually seeing the races this season. F2 should be quite exciting this season as well.
It'll be much easier to follow as it'll be live or within the grand prix weekend
Can’t wait to watch F1 academy and see how Bianca Bustamente does! I love how McLaren has been supporting her!
McLaren have really embraced this.
I feel like F1 Academy owes McLaren for a lot of advertising. I don't think nearly as many people would know about it if it weren't for the presence of Bianca on the McLaren socials.
It's a shame there's a lot of controversy around Bianca at the moment, rightfully or wrongly.
I can't look at one of her Insta posts promoting preseason prep without seeing 1000 Stroll GIFs in the comments.
It's hard to follow a series that's not televised. It was fun watching the W-series drivers race on a gaming platform during the Covid era. They really need to fix yellow flag periods in the feeder series. I've seen some races where they have raced for less than half of the laps scheduled.
Russian Irina Sidorkova was a beast online and was starting to get to grips with the W car when the Russian sanctions hit. It really sucks when world events destroy the careers of people who had nothing to do with it. If you don't know who Irina is, while on the podium in Austria(?) she dropped her champagne bottle and it took off like a rocket.
Yeah that was a very weird mistake on their part...but better than doing it live from the start and things going wrong.
Having followed it all of last season 2023 felt like a massive own goal from F1 Academy but with the amount of work that has happened behind the scenes and all the amazing new rules they’ve placed in for 2024 as well as how McLaren have showcased Bianca, it gives a lot of hope for the 2024 season. Let’s go Bia!! ❤
I hope that things are built upon for 2024.
I love williams so much more now. Albon is my favorite after the 2 season i have watched. A tear came to my eye hearing ken's daughter will be driving. I hope she does well 😢 ill absolutely be rooting for Williams and her this year..
I loved this series. Period. I want more
Well we're getting more.
@@LawVS yes. Yes we are. All is good 😂
Series continue to push highlights packages while making it hard even to pay for full race coverage. I suspect they're being told to cater to the market who watch sports the next day on their phone during their commute, while might be good for getting clicks, but does not build a fan base.
I hope they stream it live like they did for Austin
Hoping Lia Block can make it so if Andretti is allowed to entire F1 they go full American with the drivers and Hire Lia at some point
Maybe. She seems to have a strong following in the US. Williams making strong efforts.
Despite what Law said of don't go looking on Wikipedia, I just can't help but find many of these drivers lacking in winning or making progress in a series.
Lia Block has won and made rapid progress in all series she's competed in. She looks serious. I hope this comes true.

F1 Academy has potential but what id be interested in is maybe a Super formule-esque series, but just for women. A series where, the cars aren't top level but definitely top end cars, (Higher than F2, I.e Super formula). Let the Women learn in F1 academy, but give the, somewhere safe to end up, because I fear with how low down F1 Academy is, and the fact that F1 and F2 teams are "forced" to choose a driver, it feels as if F1 academy will be the final stop. So giving them a higher end series in which they can show their skills in greater machinery which will make them more attractive to other series teams, is something that will be needed. I just fear, like with the W series, there wont be anywhere to go afterwards
I think FOM's idea is to get them started in F4 cars to then go to places like FRECA or F3 or perhaps Endurance series.
@@LawVS I'd like to see an F1 Academy to Italian F4 path - then they'd be racing in the same machinery they won F1 Academy in, so they'll be comfortable with the car, but up against the best F4 drivers in the world. On the other hand, if they move straight to FRECA they need to learn an entirely new car (unless like Marta Garcia they raced in W Series beforehand) along with the increased level of competition.
As good an idea as that sounds in theory, funding an F2 level campaign is hella expensive.
In the future as popularity increases, maybe... But given W series struggled to stay afloat with F3 grade cars, that battle at the moment won't be won.
Laws! Do you watch The other formulas (say F2, F3, regional, etc)? If so, do you have any predictions?
I would love a video about It! But If It is not possible, fair anyway.
Greetings from 🇧🇷, love the content and the videos!
Hello! I keep an eye on F2 and sometimes F3 but I'm not quite as clued up on other series due to limited sources to watch such series.
@@LawVS Fair enough. Thanks for the attention!
Bianca made a whole new track layout with all her TL extensions lmao
LawVS should work for F1 Academy
I watched the 2 two races in Jeddah last week. It looked like parking lot at a superstore on Saturday. No track limits - just drive where it's convenient. Brakes are optional - especially if there's a car in front of you. Turning the steering wheel, maybe. Moving under braking - almost every lap. Commentary was... uhhh... Apparently the checkered flag gets waved 'whenever' now - even if the 1st place driver passed by already. The pit wall doesn’t communicate with their driver - everyone just took their headsets off and walked away - at least they knew when the race ended. Of course, very late or no penalties levied on multiple infractions. Imo, these are all racing basics for the drivers. The commentators should know about what they are talking about so they can relay that to the viewers. The pit wall should know what to do - even Ferrari does way better. The race officials are with the FIA, they put together 18+ races a year for decades - ??? This was dumpster fire!
One thing I did like was the broadcast director's choices of views during the race. They seemed to capture the video that was pertinent at the time instead of wandering off when something like Ricciardo's botched pit stop was happening - it's sad we had to find out about things like that the next day online. Even without the commentary, I could figure out what was happening.
Anyway, these items can all be fixed. Hopefully they will get there marbles gathered better for next time - I do hope there's a next time!
I will definitely follow the Academy more after this video 👊🏼
Right on!
I'm good friends with one of the racers on the grid. Hope more people support AND get the chance to support this series!
Oh really? Well whoever they are, I wish them the best of luck and would love to conduct an interview one day.
@@LawVS Maybe we can make something work! She’s currently in a winter F4 championship in preparation for this up and coming season :)
Brilliant! That would be cool. But whenever they have the time of course.
came here to understand it more because i have no idea what its like and seeing it live at miami right now
Not a single mention to Marta Garcia? She was the actual winner of the season 😢 Since I saw her in the thumbnail I thought you were gonna share your impressions about her among the others academy star’s.
Good content tho. Academy deserves some love!
I did touch upon her but I think I cut out a section accidentally saying her name but I did mention she went to FRECA when Prema awarded her a seat there.
NEW ANGLE?????? HELL YEAHHHH
i’m so excited and hopeful to see more women drivers in f1’s future years
If they will train to push and pull 6 Gs, 4 times a lap, for 60 laps straight while going fast, holding track limits and not crashing very often, then why not. Start training. This can be done!
I don’t get the point of F1 academy. There’s no rule as far i know that stops female drivers from joining formula racing, which makes me wonder why they made a brand F4 championship solely for women ??
Another option with more coverage and to inspire the grass roots movements.
@@LawVS I see, so it's more like an ad to inspire young girls
Do you know where I can keep up with super formula? Other than checking results online that is
I think they have an app available.
Where does f1 academy land in the f1 feeder series? Because it’s definitely below f2 and f3
Well thanks to the points given from the FIA, it's around the F4 zone and some F3 regional series.
If you've ever played assetto Corsa on a sim rig, the academy car is basically an updated Tatuus fa01.
@@zelig1799 It's closest to the F4 Brazil car mod, or the RSS 4. The FA01 is the old Formula Abarth I think.
@@michaelcook3816You might be right. I do own the RSS 4 but I've only driven it a few times. The FA01, on the other hand, I've driven more than almost any other car on the game :)
@@zelig1799 I've been pretty addicted to the new Peugeot Hypercar mod by VRC lately - definitely recommend it.

I think we can't airbrush Bustamante's faux pas with a Stroll tweet. I don't blame her per se but with PR teams she best be pristine from now on.
Can we get a top view camera angle for the ladder climb?
Why?
@@LawVS makes it look more professional (I thought it'd be funny angle)
I imagine this has already been said, but despite the one livery, Red Bull be supporting three drivers this season.
Otherwise, I'm pretty psyched. Wish we got more of it last year, I'm always excited for more women in what is in fact a co-ed sport. Especially if we got an endurance driver and a rally driver to make things wildly more interesting.
I really hope Leah Block does well.
She seems quite confident. Certainly can probably drift the car!
If she can avoid the start and restart chaos she should do well. It would be fun to see the Al Qubaisi sisters battle head-to-head for a championship this year.
She may have an edge over drivers with her rally background. Something to be said for off road discipline drivers being obscenely good in variable weather conditions. Same thing applies to the cycling industry. Most of the heavy hitters are cross/MTB multi year champions and have a sense of handling that out and out road riders don’t have.
The reality is, that it costs money to run these. But right now, very few teams are willing to sponsor or spend big in this series. Those who do, do it to tick a box and pay the bare minimum.
I´m really hyped about this! Can't wait to watch the series🥹🥹🥹!!!!
Hi LawVS, anything on Horner coming up? Curious to hear your thoughts on what happens to Red Bull if Horner is kicked out
Probably not until we get a decision on this external investigation which is expected Friday. Until then we are fuelled on nothing but speculation and short statements. This matter needs to be taken seriously.
5:50 I think you’ve severely misunderstood the budget.
300k is the total and f1 and other partners subsidised 150k of that last year but will do 200k this year so it’s up to the drivers to come up with the remaining 100k and it’s up to the f1 teams or partners if they want to cough up the extra cash to cover that cost
OK fair enough. It wasn't made quite as clear for 2024. I'm glad it's subsidised at all
@@LawVS I think it’s also encouraging that this year drivers are responsible for even less, hopefully they can continue with positive changes but it seems that 5/7 round this year will have 1 instead of 2 practice sessions and all will have 2 races instead of 3. The sacrifice for being on a packed support schedule I guess
The super license table is so weird. I would love to know how the FIA decides points per series/position. Darts maybe?
Lia block!! That will be super cool to see
She seems quite popular with people! Understandable since she's from a storied stable
i have a feeling f1 academy will be very entertaining
It certainly seems more developed for 2024.
Im pretty sure I watched them race in Texas during the Austin gp on espn.
And you mentioned it later in the video please ignore this and my ignorance
i will watch it i think. I will be supporting Williams with Ms Block
She seems to have a strong following already which is perfectly understandable.
I've watched her stuff before and she has potential. I'm American I think Ken was awesome and a shame we lost him so early. Looking forward to her continuing the legacy! I also very much like what Mclaren are doing with Bianca as well fur embracing her as a true part of the team. I am a Mclaren fan as well. Lando is probably one of my favorite drivers. I'm a red bull fan as well but I think Mclaren are doing it right with the academy.
i will probably start watching this year
It'll be a lot easier to do so this year.
where & when we can watching?
I think the most annoying part is that there is no advertisement of where it's being broadcasted. So many people would watch it if it was accessible.
Pin is going to win at Le Mans and WEC in the top class soon, she's that good...
She's certainly one of the favourites along with Weug
At first I thought they would livestream races on youtube because it's not really a major racing series. But no livestream, nowhere to watch, no other anything except for the highlights. Though I'm not really interested at the start, now I'm curious and very much want to watch these races. I just want to watch racing.
So a little outside perspective, in the world of women’s hockey the new league the PWHL is broadcasting all their games live on their CZcams channel and it’s been a huge hit. F1 academy should learn from them.
That's a good example! Here's hoping that F1 streams the F1A races during their support weekends.
It's a bit too early to tell but the signs are promising. But until the day the series can produce a driver who is competitive in F3, F2and F1 it won't a success. W series produced champions but none even good enough to challenge in F2. But give 5 or so years and I'm sure we will see some talent climb the ladder into F3 And F2 if not F1.
I understand that but these new additions to the season look quite promising and that spending a year in F1A CAN give you something at the end if you win it with some good superlicense points.

The fact that F1 academy has the backing of the FIA and F1 teams, and has lasted more than a season, means that we could finally see some of the female drivers slowly climb up the ladder. It won't be a fast process, but it's one that has started nonetheless.
The first season was clearly a fact finding mission and now they can really crank it up a notch.
I love F1 Academy. Go Bianca! And Rodin! Yes I know Bianca does not drive a Rodin.

Not until the investigation is complete and all I'd do is ramble over the statements. This needs to be taken seriously and speculation is rampant.
@@LawVSight bet , I will wait till then , it probably is best to wait till all the facts come out to comment on that anyway
They should have a car that’s above the F3.
That way the next step would be F2.
It's not meant to be equal to F3 but a similar place for international F4
@@LawVSwhich means no one in the academy will be able to take the 3 more steps it would take to get in F1.
A car fast enough to be able to take just as easy of step into F2 as others do from F3.
I'm quite old fashioned in the sense that I believe that anyone can get into F1 if they're fast enough, no matter who they are, but cash is king, especially in this day and age. No one wants to take a chance on a woman when there is so much at 'Stake'... heheh.
All we can do for now is encourage as many wealthy women to give it a go and maybe one day a Maxine Verstappen will appear and beat all the guys.
Like many sports, however, there are female categories for a reason. Physically men are stronger and have more endurance. Tennis, football, athletics, etc. It's not to say women aren't talented and gifted, but if there are men who are also talented and gifted, they will do better overall.
I think the best women can get is there own category and a chance to go wheel to wheel with men if one stands out.
In conclusion, this is why I believe a lot of this is purely political. It's a way to show the world that something is being done for inclusivity and to gain more awareness and sponsors. E.g. "look we're the good guys! Invest in us!" It's all about money and looking good to society.
I reckon that this category will help in a way but grass roots movements need to happen too and assure girls that if they wanna race then get a helmet and let's go.
A feeder series with no track limits and cars just everywhere almost every turn. It doesnt thrill me and is disappointing when I see that mess. Theres also the fact that theyve been trying this experiment for 20 years now and getting absolutely nowhere with it...for some glaringly obvious yet unknown reason.
I feel like this iteration has some more things going for it in assuring more talent gets through
This is the most sensible analysis of F1A I've listened to... Amazing work as usual!
Thanks! It's important to admit the first season was lacking but they are improving it quickly.
@@LawVS you were outlining its flaws in balance with its potential and longer-term intent, rather than "it suX bcuz WAMeN".
It's a training ground to give them an opportunity. If they take this experience and shine a little brighter in other series, great!
If not, then the door is open to new drivers to make that impression in the future.
I wonder what will happen to the F1 team affiliations after their 2-year spell is over? e.g. will Alpine keep Abby in their ranks after the year is over and support her in other series?
How did Jamie Chadwick do in indy lights?
12th in points, last in her team, 3rd rookie.
Average at the moment.
It was okay in the second half, this is the year she defo needs to perform though
My thoughts are typically: if skill is the only thing stopping women from competing at the top of the sport, don't make a women's league bc it's pandering. F1 academy being an all girls gp4 is worthless.
I'd consider it as International F4
@@LawVS I can see that if the drivers end up driving farther up the pyramid with time, but it smells like a gp4 with better sponsors to me
So I've watched an F1 Academy Race ...
1. It would've been very important to me to understand that this is an F4 Series, and not, as the Name might imply, anything remotely F1.
2. The Race was full of small and bigger Mistakes. Honestly it was all over the Place. Frustrating to watch, if you don't understand that it's a learner Series
3. Bustamante and Pin stud out for me. Pin of course because she kept the Lead and won, and Bustamante because she showed some real Racing Craft, that Person is a true Racer!
4. Pin missed the Checkered Flag and did an extra Lap, costing her the Win as she got a Penalty for that. Which was a shame, as: The Flag was blocked by a big Screen. The Flag was not fully unfolded when she went past. Her Team didn't congratulate her, indicating thate the Race is over. I put this one 50:50 on the Team and the Organizers.
5. Lia Block was Rear-ended and Spun and had her Race ruined, but when tried to turn around, went in the way of an oncoming car. The first Incident was not her Fault, but the second was, which also ended her Race.
6. Chambers (who spun Block), was all over the Place, crashing into other cars, leaving the Track, making Mistakes. Not being penalised for 3/4 of her Mistakes. A significant Part of the carnage on Track was caused by her.
Takeaways:
Knowing they are Learners, it's interesting to see how they are going to develop. Especially Drivers like Chambers. I want to see them grow out of being Rookies.
They need better commentary.
They need to communicate better where Drivers are coming from and how experienced they are.
Lewis Hamilton was the only F1 Driver attending the Race for Support.
If you let a Guest wave the checkered Flag, Let them practice a bit.

I have the feeling that after the allegation of conflict of interest for Susie Wolff she is going to be extra determined to do a good job to make a point. It's going to be exciting!
These extra additions are genuinely impressive.
F4 is literally for learning how to drive in single seater tho
Which is the point of an academy so it makes sense so then these drivers can progress meaningfully.
The problem isn't a management one where females are concerned with F1 entry, the problem is in the physicality required to race the current cars competitively. Susie is well aware that F1 drivers are in peak physical condition, yet still find it challenging to deal with the constant forces placed on the body. "But Holtzy, Females can be fighter pilots", that's true, but it is not sustained G-forces, 3 days in a row, ending with 2 hours racing on the Sunday, sometimes back to back weeks. F2 seems to be the peak and they only just survive there, but never competitive at that level or beyond. So why have there been female F1 drivers in the past? Well, the introduction of Aerodynamics has increased the lateral load past what is safe or even healthy for a female. Prior to Aero dominating the cars, women had every opportunity to be successful in F1, but what Toto and Susie are doing is just giving false hope and almost physically impossible task/expectation to these girls. Jamie Chadwick herself stated that F2 was the most physicality they can take. F1 Academy only exists for the money and to quiet the people that call for females in F1.
And that sucks, cause I'd love nothing more than to see a woman dominating the men in F1.
The only way this can work is if the champion gets a promotion to a regular F4 championship. I don’t think Jamie Chadwick winning all 3 Formula W series championships with barely racking out an Indy Lights seat when the series collapsed did a lot of good for women in single seater motorsports.
We either decide there will be a female alternative series to the current male dominated ones, or push these ladies with normal expectations in the regular series against men/boys.
The worst thing you can do is make this half arsed approach, where you have this special F4 series for females, and you aren’t focusing on building a solid female series these juniors can graduate to, or a clear road to where ever the men are and make that field more mixed.
I think that's the idea. Marta Garcia went on to FRECA with Prema so that seems like a good step up.
Chadwick went to Prema after her first title. The exact same step Garcia took.
It will never take off. I think its great, but thats just the reality of it. It would be cool to see a woman in F1 again though! At cota, they should have enforced track limits like how they do all other series, things like that doesn't help to take it seriously. I hope this season is better! :)
I don't think it needs to take off like a HUGE sensation right now. It just needs to do its job and get women onto the next phase of their careers and bring awareness to the general motorsport audience.
It just needs to pay for itself. If a driver can make a living, sponsors are happy, teams can buy their equipment, pay their staff. That is a fine goal. If we only measure success by the drivers reaching F1, then every F4 series would be considered a failure.
a lot of junior series only enforce track limits at specified corners, that was the case at austin
7:45 women from the middle eastern region are allowed to drive?
Only if they are rich and daddies oil money is sponsoring the team
Yes.
Let F1 Academy be a feeder series into Formula E.
I reckon that could easily be a good place to progress to.
F1 academy just needs to do the tried and tested… bitter rivalries. From the beginning of sport those that are able to build iconic rivalries will soar.
Why so positive about a series that's discriminating half of the demographic? The level of these lady's is about midfield F3 tops (top level Sophia Flörsch). Why handing out superlicence points for performances on that level, only top F3 drivers get points.
Yuyu Noda and Sophia Flörsch are walking the correct trail. They test themsreves against the boys and see what happens. Motorsports were the only sports not discriminating on gender.
To bring hope to young girls and push the grass roots movements to be better. Also it's another opportunity for points.

The girls who thrive in motorsport are a special breed.and even the guys who thrive there are.The list of succesfull women in motirsport is short but distingtive. What they have all in common is they all rose thru the ranks without priviliges.
F1 is selling those women a fairytail littered with priveliges and not a prospect.
Is it bad that I think of Williams more of an American team than Haas.
They seem to be making more of an effort without trying too hard
@@LawVS They did a whole US themed livery for COTA and Haas did nothing for any of the US races.
Please excuse my ignorance but why is there a female only race series? Isnt racing for everyone?
Yes it is, but this is a means for bringing up awareness to young women that there is a chance to race and that it IS for everyone. The grass roots initiatives need to do their part too.
@@LawVS ok I understand. I always thought women were not interested. In my country we have women drivers in all forms of motorsports. Never really thought about it much. Kinda new to watching f1. Only started due to COVID.
So What we are saying is lewis at ferrari will take more cash than the whole.women series puts in all together
I feel like F1 Academy is doing great job provide all women's race championship although it might take time for someone from F1 academy will be on same grid as men's drivers aside from Sophia flourish where she is in F2 or f3
Of course. These things take time but these new additions and F1 getting involved is certainly promising.
Nobody since Lombardi decades ago, waste of time!
Sophia is racing in F3 for Van Amersfoort Racing this year. I think Marta Garcia will be racing for Prema in FRECA. Also, Juju Noda will be racing in Super Formula in Japan. So plenty of talented women racing on male-dominated grids to watch out for this year.
As we say in Dutch : 'Vrouw achter het stuur, bloed aan de muur' (A woman driving will result in blood on the wall)
Really happy to see the Academy evolve! It was pretty fun to keep track of last year & with the new drivers and updates coming in, it should be a pretty fab support series!
Yeah I reckon the series will get better developed for 2024.
They should just get a fan who is a good video editor to make the highlight videos on a channel created just for that. Payment is whatever the youtube channel makes. EZ
I reckon they'll be more efficient for 2024
Pin is pronounced "puh" not "peen"
btw you'd be correct if there was an E at the end
Thanks for that. I was thinking of Charles Pic.
@@LawVS since we're here, I'll let you in on a tiny secret that'll make you look like a know-it-all next to your friends
Victor Martins may drive with a french license but his name is Portuguese, so the C in Victor is silent and Martins is pronounced like Martini but instead of ending in "ee", it ends in "sh"
Have fun hm-actuallying people 😉
Yea but why isnt Chadwick driving there?
She's racing in Indy NXT, a much higher-level series pretty much on par with FIA F3.
@@michaelcook3816 but isn't that further away from the F1 world? I mean she won't get any coverage in europe... It would be super sad if she gets forgotten
2:18
Formula E had none of this
(Instead, people watched and still were near bankrupt by Miami)
Wish formula E didn't really resort to TNT Sports.
@@LawVS Oh, no, I was talking about Season 1
But that is worse
the answer to your question is Susie - she's kicking ass
She seems fired up right now
wonder why ... lol @@LawVS
Formula 1 academy was a huge disappointment for me. I was so hyped for it's launch. But, that's alright. I'm still onboard for the concept and I'm still going to watch. ❤
while it would be great to have more woman drivers in the FIA ladder, I think the W series and F1 academy is counterintuitive to that purpose, they may give experience to those drivers but it also traps them in F4, look at Garcia, she spent a total of 5 years on the F4 step of the FIA ladder (1 Spanish F4, 3 W series and 1 F1 acdm), Far too much time spent on one step of the ladder to ever hope reaching the top, furthermore, having these drivers compete solely with themselves is not a prime environment for improvement and growth as drivers, I genuinely hope that Garcia and shadwick are freak occurrences cause I don't want to see Pin wasted in F4 for another 2 years, not after her performance in F4 SEA.
Most casual F1 fans be like:
"What's F1 Academy ?, what's W Series ? Is it the series before F1 ?"
Well here we are to enlighten folks and showcase another support series!
@@LawVS That's right !! Unfortunately, your F1 channel isn't your main source of income so the impact it would've had on casuals is greatly diminished.
If no one wants to watch other women sports what would make anyone think people would want to watch this?
Because it's a great opportunity for some drivers to showcase their talent and open up the opportunity for girls to see that Motorsport is a viable path.
@@LawVS No one wants to watch a charity case. F1 and all the support series already allow anyone with enough talent to drive. Someone can make a racing series for blind drivers to to open up opportunities and cater to the blind audiences and we will have just as many people watching that as F1 Academy.
We need more spots in F1. There's way too much untapped talent out there. I would love to see Juju in F1.
I don't see her there right now. Let's see how SF goes.
I’m looking forward to this season of F1 Academy. I followed Ken Block’s career and am so happy that Williams signed Lia. I wonder if people who follow American Rally will tune into F1 academy this year.
She seems popular there.
I don’t get Carrie Schreiner tbh. 25 is way too old to make up for lost ground in Single Seaters. I think she would have been better of staying at touring cars and have them give that spot to someone 15ish like normal for F4
Well Sauber backed her and she's got one more season in her there so why not?
I agree there should be an age limit (maybe 21) for F1 Academy - but it's a big improvement on W Series which had a few drivers aged 30+.
@@michaelcook3816 that would mean 22/23 at the end of Academy, probably 25/26 ish at F3 and then at best 26/27 done with F2 as I don’t believe jumping straight into F2 from the Academy would be feasible. I know Nyck de Vries was that age but honestly even by 90‘s Standards that’s almost too old. Teams favor a young shapeable Driver for the loyalty aspect (not everyone has the balls of Piastri). I am not saying it’s impossible but I would argue it’s a few times harder for an Older Rookie to get a grip off a Team with someone on the same skill level that’s about 10 years younger. I‘d say 17 at best.
@@Eeraz It will be interesting to see whether the top female drivers in karting (probably Luna Fluxa and Maria Neto) move into F1 Academy as their debut car championship in 2-3 years, or whether they go straight to a series like Spanish/Italian F4 instead. If the most talented girls decide against doing F1 Academy, then it will be difficult to justify the series.
@@michaelcook3816 truth be told in the end in comes down to money. With one being backed by Merc and the other by Ferrari it’s probably gonna be their cheapest option. Truth be told I don’t see either Team not wanting the Media coverage Academy could provide them.
Why the hell is it £600,000 !?!
That's the rough estimate from some sources. But from the sound of it it's at least 450,000 Euros.
Selling dreams to these kids!!! With no hope. Go to Indy, IMS,WEC.
The champ went to race in PRECA this year WITH Prema. That's a pretty impressive prize.
I’m sorry to hear F1 is having money issues and can’t invest into the broadcasting of this series.
Yeah...that was kinda weird that the project they wanted to implement didn't have enough confidence in it to go the whole hog if it wasn't attached to an F1 weekend.
Going good. So good I'm expecting those "I made pasta last night. It was good" comments blowing in their videos. Also lots of replies.l, "Nice, man. How did you make it?", "Good, man. What you making tonight?"
Glad you got something cooking.
"evolution of the W series"
With slower cars, and age restricted driver pool.
The age range is (so far) between 17 and 25 with Carrie Schreiner present and I'm talking about the overall concept and execution.
