My DW 5600 was battle and longevity tested. Won't change a thing about it. Survived Basic and AIT training. Deployed twice , Iraqi and Afghanistan. After 8 yrs active service, dust and snow, Battery changed last year. Back to life like a Zombie that just wont die. It is better than jesus.
We must got deployed to different places cause the hell hole I went in I went thru 2 g-shocks and that’s a dam miracle at only 2

Casio should drop the high polish and make a combination of bead blasting and brushing, THAT would make these better and also more scratch resistant

Watch Geek For the black bezel ones, I noticed the brush part reflects light more than the gloss polished sides. Same could be seen on most G-Steel I believe. Bead blasting is the way to go or just like the previous 'aged-processed' technique; Beautiful! 😃

I've just tried on the full black metal version (I forget the model number) and I thought exactly the same thing.
For less than double the price you can get WAY more than double the features. I say if you're thinking about a metal square go with the made in Japan GMW series. The negative screen version has a display that is much easier to see. It has solar charging, a screw-down caseback, a better light, auto-adjust timekeeping, more alarms, Bluetooth, and a more supple band. I have both the GMW-B5000-1CR and the GMW-B5000G-1JF because after I got the negative display I wanted one with a positive display. I'm thinking about dropping another $400 and getting the GMW-B5000G-2JF because the blue metal is so freaking cool. I strongly recommend you save your pennies and go with the GMW series...You won't regret it!
Good points. For average users who have extra cash, straight to the gmw-b5000 is the way to go. But, I have another alternative.
GM-5600 (200usd) + GW-B5600 (136usd)
= A non screwback metal square (Sell the rest as parts for 100usd +-)
Total cost: 236USD for bluetooth solar powered metal bezel square with dotted camo face.
If all goes to plan. 😃😃😃
Yeah, it's frustrating. I haven't had a G-shock in years, but when I saw this watch with the awesome camo and the negative display, I immediately wanted it. But as soon as I read that it lacked so many features, I was just disappointed. I thought atomic timekeeping and solar was pretty much standard on the more expensive G-shocks. I guess not.

The watch looks beautiful, but for some reason, I don’t know why Casio didn’t make the buckle the same color as the rest of the watch!! They did the same thing with the DW5600BB. I know it’s a nitpick thing, but I think for like $250 U.S. I think the watch should have a matching buckle.

Point of reference: seiko sumo looks at home on my wrist.
I still prefer the new Carbon GA-2100 in all black over this one. The fit is better, it is also the slimmest G-Shock yet. At the same time have the dw5000 square DNA in its design. GA-2100 is awesome

I bought the silver one a few weeks ago and didn't even notice you could easily take off the bands. Thanks for pointing that out! Are the official metal straps available? That would make it a cheap all metal G-Shock. Wasn't willing to spend more, because I can live without the solar stuff(battery life is already 10 years or so) and bluetooth/world time things. I keep my watch in at the same timezone as home while traveling, so I know what time it is back home when contacting others. My phone shows the local time.

Thats stainless steel bezel. The inner case is resin. GMW-B5000 however will have inner case & bezel made out of steel.

I wouldn't recommend that but if didn't mind downgrading. Go ahead, this model is quite fun to have.
I too own the full metal b5000, and bought this olive green baby on impulse. Love it as it is much easier to wear
The only downside is that whilst the metal version looks good, I feel that its obviously gonna be heavier than the cheaper resin watches.
Personally for a beater watch, I prefer non metal version.
Unless you picked up one in used condition, the price would much cheaper that it won't matter as much a beater.

Got in in all black. Gorgeous. I will still keep my DW-5600E. They will all get wrist time. Plus I have to mix in a couple of GA-2100 and others too.

I agree. But Casio already did release the GW-B5600 at similar price range. If they improve the module, that GW-B would be killed.
Well, I am sold on it. I think it looks almost as good as the more expensive 5000 series and I can find a nice jaysandkays strap to really make it my own.

I almost bought the G-wb5600-bc-1b brand new for $130 then I saw your video. This would be my perfect G-shock if it had tough solar, multiband6 and Bluetooth capability. I'm assuming these features are going to be added in a future release? What do you think?
The GWB5600 has better functions, this GM5600 has better construction.

Fashion piece like this look cooler with a negative display. They're targeting all the youth as their main consumers as could be seen in their ads for this model.

They may look cooler but they’re more difficult to read. They could’ve simply allowed for a positive display option it’s only a existing module swap.
Everyone has their own tastes,myself I dislike negative displays.

The bezel won't fit. The movement could fit in the metal case.
I know for sure the bezel won't fit (resin interior case is bigger on the GM than on the GW), but if someone could try to swap the GW-B5600 into the GM-5600 it would be awesome! All the functionality with all the pretty in one package

I took those out of vintage watches that I gather over the years. They'll have the same size. Eg, DW-6000, DW-6100, MRG-1, GS-1.

I found many stainless steel cases for the square g shock on aliexpress but I don't how if it is good if anyone tried that please advise
I haven't tried them, but they look good.
However, that didn't solve the other problem. This GM-5600 has bigger button and better side piece. Way better.
