The analogue parts of the dials look good. The digital portion looks almost worthless, though. If they were going for a negative display, they should've made sure there was a lot more contrast.

They really should have a positive display option though. The negative, especially that small, is hard as hell to read.

@know-it-all King It does look cool, but for practicality purposes, I'd prefer the easier-to-read positive display. I've done the N to P conversion on my GW-B5600BB. That only took 10 minutes, and it's a much more useful watch.
Agreed. After seeing the photos before this, I was hoping that the light might be made a little better. If I have to have a negative display (and I do, because I love them!) I really want a light that makes the time pop. I love my CasiOak, but the light is worthless on it.

Needs to be Tough Solar for that asking price. A all black with silver brushed edged dial hands and indices would've been nice.
Couldn’t agree more. Love my 2100, but if I’m ever going to upgrade it, it needs to be an actual upgrade worth the price hike.
People still buy the non solar GM-6900 so there's that. Also, there had been too much metal mod kits for the 2100 so Casio though of jumping the gun.
God the though solar crowd is annoying as hell, we've heard it the first 100 times, just go buy a solar watch with the corresponding price hike if it's what you want

Every G-Shock ought to be Tough Solar.
Maybe Casio should make non G-Shocks solar while they're at it. You know, the watch world would be significantly improved if there were more tough solar. Tough Solar should be liscenced out, you know, to spread the solar love. Citizen comes close but lacks the durability of Tough Solar. There just isn't anything remotely close on the market than Tough solar watches. Spending money on something that isn't a Tough Solar is just a flat-out bad investment. Besides, what's cooler than Tough Solar? That battery hard to find(?); well, not for a Tough Solar where it's primary power source is a giant ball of nuclear fission!

@@matthewmoseley3899 yes it the two days when CZcams took his channel down with no notice. It was deeply unfair and I think he only got back because he got a lot of help. I'm not sure a small watch channel would have won the appeal. But all is good now 😊

That's why I held out on the CasiOak. I wanted the hype to die down a bit so the black one becomes readily available at decent prices again, but at the same time I had a feeling Casio was cooking something special. I love the metal one, and the Casiooaks in general. Not having a second hand is a ocd thing for me, I can get over that though. They need to be tough solar though at the very least for me, when I can get a GW5610 with tough solar and multiband 6, solar is a bare minimum for me.

I'm probably one of a very few people who sold my Casioak within a month or so of receiving it. I preferred the look of the next model in the Carbon Core Guard line, the GA-2000. With it's standard lug configuration, It was one of the few G Shocks, if not the only one, compatible with any 24mm watch strap. Congrats on the Casio partnership! Well deserved after YTs recent shenanigans 👍😁

The red as it is just the dial popping is tasteful imo. A red strap would be too tacky. That's why the previous ones were cheaper. You have to be a special type of guy to wear an all red watch.
There's a really nice all red square, bezel and strap completely red.
The half metal first is because they haven't ironed out how much like the Royal Oak the full metal will look, and how to avoid trouble with AP.

I bought the Green GM2100 after seeing your exclusive 8 months ago... Absolutely ❤️ it! Of all my watches it gets the most compliments.
Also want to thank you for helping me get away from obsessing over expensive luxurious watches to more affordable ones, get the same pleasure from my Casio GM2100, Bulova Lunar Pilot, Seiko SSC667 as I do from my Omega Seamaster and Zenith El Primero. My wife thanks you too😉

Honestly, this is one of the best watches I own. Perfect for my holidays, as I walk around in lowlight environments all the time in Italy. The leds as a light are great.

My favorite is the gray dial. But my gripe is that the case has too much polishing. If I purchased one I will definitely add some brushing to certain areas. Great video 👍🏻

@@mpoerot8013 Depending on the area you’re trying to brush. You can use sandpaper very fine grit or use a brush head on a bench grinder or rotary tool.

Congrats on the 1 year Casio sponsorship deal! I think they're a great company. The 1ADR is a beauty, but I think I'd rather pay a bit more to get a solar radio watch. I usually want those features in a Casio, although exceptions can be made (I couldn't resist the MDV-106). Thanks for the video!

I feel like this is a bit of a missed opportunity. They’ll all sell out but I won’t be getting one. Still haven’t improved on the original. I’d only buy once it has solar, lumed indices, multiband/Bluetooth and a positive display. For now I’m happy to stick with my GWM5610.

Casios thing is to makes tons of color ways on the same product so you'll probably need to keep waiting.
Just wish they were 40mm. Had the original and it felt huge on my 6 3/4 inch wrist.

I’ve been on a bit of a journey with the Casioak. I’ve gone from not being bothered at all and wondering what all the fuss was about to actually really liking them. I don’t think the half metal is the one for me just because of the price but I think there’s a regular Casioak in my future for sure.

They are definitely interesting watches but the digital display looks tough to read. It’s kind of shoe horned into the dial and it doesn’t seem like it quite works. I like the watches but that digital display looks fairly useless.
Readability seems to be a big problem with these new dials : too much glare and no contrast. I definitely prefer the GA2100.

I've got the GA and the GM. Both are amazing watches. A little tough to read sometimes for my eyes but I really enjoy the ability to switch the straps back and forth to go with any outfit. Great video and those models are all equally gorgeous.

The thing I like about the GA2100 is how easy it is to read the time. I hope forthcoming Metal G's will have contrasting hands to dial the colour dials are really nice.
All have negative screens…hard pass. Getting the bezels and installing on a regular grey-with-positive-screen.

Congtats Jody, rewatching this video once more, you're right, they look stunning and more premium with the metal face on the dial. Oddly enough I also like the blood red version. I had picked up the ga2100 red and the clear skeleton version and swithed the hour marker ring between the two models and they look amazing with the red hour markers on the black dial gives it a punch of color. The black hour markers on the red dial makes it easier to read the time on the red GA2100.
The GM2100 is selling at Casio Canada for $300 + tax and have been waiting patiently ever since for a price drop at other retailers.
It's finally paid off the GM2100 red version is selling at $209.99 and a Canadian retailer and I pulled the trigger!
Half metal is definitely a nice to have, especially when the third party mod kits are selling at $100 from e-bay or Amazon. I don't thin I'll be looking out for the full metal too cost prohibitive.
