John C. Reilly On A "Step Brothers" Sequel | CONAN on TBS
/ teamcoco - Komedie
Step brothers is one of the best comedies ever made imo
@Jacob Namowicz damn, thats amazing
@Jacob Namowicz What a time to be alive!
Don't forget Superbad. That's up there to.
Completely true. I saw no previews which made seeing it so much better
@@JP-mb2pk it’s way better than super bad
The only way a sequel makes sense to me is if they become Step Fathers
Dale marries dereks wife Alice , Derek is in a downward spiral and I mean he’s getting WEIRD with it . Brennon having rekindled his relationship with Derek
Reluctantly vows to take revenge on dale .
Dale and Brennon are both married stay at home dads, have two kids, with horrible workaholic wives (12 years later) 2020. They both end up going through terrible divorces, but each get spousal support and full custody of the kids. They run into each other in the supermarket and decide to move families in together creating Step Fathers when they're forced to marry for some weird reason.
Bro!
The whole story of Step Brothers was that the two brother's grow up and become more mature. A sequel wouldn't work.
@@mre7152 did they though? Did they really grow up? The Chewbacca mask would say otherwise lol

There's a D on the end.
I'm starting to like the Covid induced 1x1 interviews with no crazy audience. The interviews are also not scripted like they were.
it's more personal. they aren't trying to sell anything, which makes it organic in a way :D
Most of the late night hosts have adapted w/o a live audience and it's been GREAT. I saw the massive improvement with Seth Meyers interviewing his long-time friend John Mulaney (and now writer on Seth Meyers. lol). It felt like we were in Seth's living room (in a non-creepy way).
I even saw it with Fallon! He REALLY benefits from his show being a lot less canned.
Over the years, Letterman had said he just wanted to talk to interesting people and have it recorded for us. That's why his Netflix show is the way it is. I think these current hosts have a similar kind of goal/mission.
@@kbuttstadt don’t see how anyone can watch Seth Meyers. He has a punchable face and personality.
@@CelonixCleaningServicesLLC in not talking about the distance between them, in talking about the lack of the audience and the constant need to keep them laughing.
The audience always over does it
In my humble opinion, the best way to make a step brothers sequel would be to make it a Christmas movie.
Yh
That’s not a bad idea they incorporated Christmas in the first one so not too sure what else they could do but I would like to see it. Will Ferrell still owns Christmas every year with elf too
Yesss!!
Don't ruin a great movie please that's all they do past 10-15 years
I hope they keep it rated R. Comedy is hard to do without freedom to swear or being offensive. A prime example was the Sherlock Holmes movie they did. They really didnt look comfortable in it.
step brothers was the first movie I ever saw high, and I almost literally died laughing where the bed falls on Will.

Why did you let us do this! It was a horrible idea!

Step Brothers 2 would be amazing. Living together still or being apart for this many years.
Unlike dumber and dumber to
most comedy sequels suck or arent bad but just is no need for

"Dad what are you doing its shark week!" will forever be one of the funniest lines from that movie 🤣
"There's plenty more where that came from... " is a line I only caught after10 or so viewings...
John C. Reilly is always great. Comedy, drama, lead or supporting actor, his character is usually the best part of the movie.
"The Sisters Brothers" should be a case study on what a western should be. Not everyone's cup, but man, I LOVED it.
I respect that
Great cast
Yes, excellent movie!
yeah, it was great
It was definitely a surprise to me.
how did Conan not ask about the real life gang of kids that attacked him in his past.

SHUT UP "ESSAY"!!..
After the emotional trauma Sherlock Holmes caused, you owe us that sequel.
Was it that bad? I want to see it.
@@kevindowner766 I made it through 15 minutes.
Yea i couldnt make it passed the beginning.. its pretty crappy
I made it through the whole thing and I haven't been the same since. And I was in Vietnam!
In 2006, not the war.
Unpopular opinion, it isn’t that bad. It’s not their best work and it definitely not a real Sherlock Holmes tale but I’ve seen much worse. Some of it was so bad it was funny.
Conan looks like the most life like representation of a South Park adult.
from Canada
I just watched hard eight and magnolia and it blew my mind to see him perform so well in a drama. I’ve always thought of him specifically as a comedy star but he was doin drama years before talledaga nights
He's so wholesome not wanting to hurt feelings. Wouldn't name the actor he didn't get along with and wouldn't name a bad sequel
Do you think its johnny depp?
@@killacali4xify My guess was Colin Farrel
I rekon Steve Coogan
That's what I thought, either Depp or Marky mark 😆
@@matthale8090 He was in Boogie Nights & The Perfect Storm with him, it seems like most people get along with both Wahlberg and Reilly so I would assume they got along fairly well. Maybe not though, who knows. The number of times Wahlberg & Ferrell have teamed up also would make me think they most likely at least fairly get along. I would lean more towards Depp for sure.

He needs to be a South Pole elf though
*hollywood has just entered the chat*
Even thought they're both the same height. That's hilarious

There are more than 2 - 3 sequels better than the original. It’s not common place. But it’s a decent sized list.
The mentioned Aliens and Godfather 2,
But also:
Empire Strikes Back
LotR: The Two Towers
The Dark Knight
Fury Road
Half of the Fast and Furious Movies
X2
Obviously T2
Spider-Man 2
A couple of the MCU Trilogies: Thor: Ragnarok, Winter Soldier.

I love John c Reilly. Step bros and gangs of new York. To oliver hardy in the laurel and hardy movie. This man is one of the best actors of our generation.
Don't forget Days of Thunder
One of the greatest actors to live. His comedy performances are amazing!
Step Brothers came out when I had a step brother at the time and honestly we both watched it and were damn near the same way
Want to see John C. Reilly in more roles like in Gangs of New York.
I always had this idea for a Stepbrothers sequel called "Stepfathers". After Karaok'n'Roll tanks and their romantic relationships fail, Dale & Brennan are forced to live together again. One day, they are surprised to be named guardians of someone's orphaned teens - but these teens are faking their age and are actually in their mid-20's trying to game the system as not to take responsibility for their own lives, and they act spoiled like how Dale & Brennan were in the first film. Now, Dale & Brennan have to live the nightmare they brought on their own parents in Stepbrothers.
Free concept if anyone in Hollywood is reading this and thinks it's a viable idea lol
Step uncles
Actually not bad, I could definitely see this being made.
@@bern9642 "Stuncles"
Lots of step bro! What are you doing? Potential
You have a good idea there. I can see that having potential to be hilarious.
The sequel should focus solely on how Prestige Worldwide devolved into only selling a line of 'Majestic wolf Lamps with Galco's family' at different stages in life and how popular they are in Asia.
I was fine without having a sequel until Sherlock and Watson. After that, you owe us
The sequel should definitely be a Christmas film ❤️💚
I remember my first 🍺 beer. I laughed so hard I fell off my dinosaur. This is my top 5 fav comedy movies. 🍿
Step Brothers 2 would be great if they were pursuing Prestige Worldwide and failing radio gigs. They open a huge concert for a famous band at the end.
I had heard there was a script where they lived in Sacramento now, etc
Wayne's world 2 plot?

Thank you for saying it John. Step Brothers is my all time favorite movie. As much as I'd love a sequel, it'd be very difficult to top the original.
Yeah, personally, I think too much time has passed to make it anywhere near the original but if someone comes up with an amazing storyline, I say go for it but it would take a really good plot to pull it off
He just makes me smile so much
It’s Sean Penn from “We’re No Angels”.
I was thinking Mark Wahlberg from Boogie Nights 🤷🏼♂️

Conans rockin the church dad due.
If you like red headed lesbians with chest hair
"Who is it?"
"I Dont Want to say."
Steve Coogan. The answer is Steve Coogan.
4 sure
Why?
If you look at all of the partners he has been partnered with in movies they are all people that he still has a working relationship with through either Judd or Will Ferrel. I thought for a second it was possible that it was Ed Helms on Cedar Rapids, but I'm pretty sure I've seen them together in lots of other things. Riley barely promoted Stan and Ollie even though getting a lot of very good notices for his performance. Coogan always plays the Alpha, and the difference in comedic sensibilities makes it easy to imagine them being a less than ideal pairing. Its all circumstantial, and a hunch. I mean sure, it could be Tilda Swinton, but We Need to Talk About Kevin is not a buddy comedy. Either way, both Coogan and Riley are comedic geniuses and this suspicion doesn't change my view of either of them.
How about Mark Wahlberg? John C. Reilly's character in Boogie Nights could be described as a best friend to Dirk Diggler I guess?
@@povilas6814 that's true. They have great chemistry in that film though. Also noted that JCR never worked with Diego Luna again after Criminal. Jcr didn't say this person was hard to work with, just that they didn't become friends through the movie. That feels very much like it could be Wahlberg or Coogan
I'm glad that they feel comfortable leaving it be. Not everything needs a remake or sequal
John C Reilly in Magnolia is so underrated it's criminal.

From Gangs of New York to Step Brothers, John C Reilly is one of the few actors who can nail both comedic and serious roles.
No to mention his portrayal of the legendary Oliver Hardy in Stan and Ollie was uncanny. Brilliant actor.
