It's crazy to think a lot of college graduates in California had their degrees signed by Arnold Schwarzenegger, which is probably the hardest way to get a celebrity's signature.
I have both my high school and college diplomas signed by him
College degree here with his name on it.
I've got it hanging on my wall. I always thought it was so funny, and pretty silly, that he was governor (He got there after Gray Davis was recalled, and the ballot had literally dozens of names). But after seeing these clips of what a genuine team builder he is, and seeing what he was able to do for the state, I have a whole lot more respect. (Also, sorry to be a spoil sport, but he did not sign the diplomas of the millions of college graduates during the time he was in office - they're copies ;) )

I have so much more respect and appreciation for Arnold from these clips of the interview. He is quite an impressive person.
i'm always surprised by how many people don't realize who arnold really is... california is literally one of the major world powers by itself, so being the head of it's government wasn't just some celebrity ego grab, he was powerful, and he used that power pretty well. it's like saying you're surprised reagan commanded respect of most of the country at one point by not realizing he wasn't just some actor from history but was a president of the united states.
@@dizzlebizzle8424 Being elected into office does not make someone a great person, it just means they are popular or have run a good campaign to touch on important issues. I don't pay attention to California's government or politics. What makes Arnold a great person are the aspects discussed in the video clips from this interview. He's positive, driven but humble, thinks of others and has empathy for other peoples hurdles. I knew he was a nice guy and funny from the years of him being in the media, but I never paid much attention to him; I don't ogle over famous people.
@@dizzlebizzle8424 Reagan has left this country in horrible shape. His affiliation with Newt Gingrich led to the demolition of the once vital middle class in this country. Getting elected doesn't make one a leader or indicate ANY aptitude for governance.
That said, Arnold did a good job with California.
The fact that he cheated on his wife also says a lot about him.
As an outsider, unlike Trump, he absolutely absorbed all of the political information and education on the job. While he had his own odd quirks and intricacies, at least he was a willing student of his elected position. That's more than can be said for some career politicians! Even as an elected Republican, he was willing to listen to both sides of the argument, much respect!
He showed his leadership capabilities.

I commented this on another video, but I actually met him when he was governor. My class got to go to the Capitol building and take a picture with him. He even took a few minutes of his time to talk to us about the importance of education in our lives. It was a very memorable experience for us and now I realize how special and important that must have been for him to be able to talk to the next generation. My respect for him has greatly increased after hearing him talk to Conan.
His charisma is off the charts.

What are you talking about? Debt tripled under Schwarzenegger's leaving CA on the brink of financial disaster, it took Jerry Brown years to fix his mess and give CA billions in surplus when he left.

It's not his fault that the democrats became pseudo communists with the likes of Cortez, while the republicans became pseudo theocratics libertarians. The whole system went to hell. But there was a time in which the republican party was associated with the likes of Lincoln and Eisenhower. Now it's Trump and some other android.

Arnold is basically an optimistic pragmatist. His perspective and appreciate of this country is important for native born Americans to hear. And he is a funny guy. Would love to sit down to a Wienerschnitzel dinner with him

I'll cop to having goofed on "The Governator" before because it's just a funny concept, but from this I'm genuinely struck by how seriously he took the job and his real concern for doing what was best rather than what was politically opportune. As far as ways a celebrity going into politics could turn out, I'd say that's a best-case scenario.

My grandfather Edward Theriault was Mr.Universe 1960. He used to always say Arnold is great for the industry as he was so driven. But he was also very jealous of Arnold since my grandmother Florence thought he was "a cute boy." True story. We used to have Wieder picnics and Arnold was so shy (No English).

Brilliant segment - Conan getting serious for a bit and getting Arnold to share insights about running a State and almost dying, then setting him up for a punchline.
I love how he talks about how he had to learn, talks about how he loved it, then he starts teaching it to them. It's crazy.
I wish Arnold could run for president. He's exactly what we need... Someone who understands the BS from extremists and understands how dangerous the path is that we're currently on from his upbringing and real education about Germany's dark past. He's very well aware of the consequences of where we're potentially going. We really need him..

If you think about it, the condition of being born in the US is so stupid and unamerican. It really should not exist. In civilized countries, the criteria for presidential candidates is citizenship. Whoever had earned that should be able to run for president.

Yeah... extremist politics is ruining not just my state (CA), but also the country. I remember the days when people used to compromise on issues to get things done. Now? Its basically you die or I die, and they are even playing chicken with the US budget and only wanting ultimatum proposals (without any real understanding of how fucked we are how impossible it would be to recover, if we do end up having a government shutdown). It doesn't matter if you are conservative or liberal, extremist on either end suck ass, and it seems like they went from being called crazy weirdos that no one listens to except for people with tin hats, to having the most political power right now. Yeah it's true biden has led us down a very dark path. And Arnold would be a million times better, but we do have a few good choices and it seems like even the nutjobs who voted for biden are starting to understand how wrong they were. But Arnold could do great at uniting people.

My father went through open-heart surgery. He had a valve replaced but also needed a bypass, so doctors did not suggest a closed operation. Hearing the process that Arnold had to go through, you understand that everyone, regardless of their status, has basically the same experience when it comes to serious operations. Humankind is still in its infancy in medicine or so I hope.
Don't focus on what divides us rather that which is common between us to solve.
He has intelligence, charisma and high work ethic. 3 combinations that can make anyone successful ❤️😍

I was in elementary school when he was in office, and we had a tour of the state capitol as a part of our Sacramento field trip. Arnold wasn't part of the tour schedule, but he came out during his free time to talk to us kids about education and such for like 5 minutes when we got to his office.
He is a good man at his core, that is why his party affiliation didn't matter. It also helped that he actually didn't need any more fame or money

Whoever told Arnold that heart surgery was routine was lying. My father also had a valve replaced and he opted for a metal one instead of a pig valve like Arnold did because he didn't want to go back ever 10 to 20 years to have a new one put in as his doctor told him you could die every time they do it and not just that but your chance of dying during it increases each time you have it done.
My father was also informed about this. The advantage of the pig valve is that you do not need to get Coumadin or whatever medicine is used to regulate blood viscosity. Metal valves last long but they have the risk of blood clot accumulation. Arnold might be a little older than your father. Doctors do not assume that we will live forever. So, they might have thought that before he needs the pig valve replaced, Arnold would most likely die. He is 76.

When Governor Swarzenegger started in public policy, i'd never expected him to be as prudent & pragmatic with a display of tangible integrity than most every other politician we see regularly today... All with a disposition of service. Dig.
10:07. Pneumonia is a big killer of elderly people. I finally got my pneumonia shot at age 68 and I should have done it sooner. It's a lifetime shot so you only get it once and you can get it in your doctor's office the next time you go for your yearly check up.
Wait for that.
The pcv is being improved over time to include more strains.
Also it primarily protects you from those pneumococci that cause invasive disease.

@@vickyabramowitz2885 the old one pcv13 should be readily available the new one pcv20 is out now, you would have to ask your GP if it is available.
There is also occasionally still a very old one ppv23, which can be boostered by the new one.
Pcv13 can be boostered usually after a year with pcv20 to add the coverage of the other 7 strains
