Hawa Mahal is a palace in Jaipur City of Rajasthan, India. Built with the help of red and pink sandstone, it is located on the edge of City Palace, Jaipur.
Hawa Mahal Jaipur Ticket : Rs.52 for Indians and Rs.202 for foreigners.
Hawa Mahal is around 3.5 km away from Sindhi Camp Bus Stand, 4 km from Jaipur railway junction and 12 km from Jaipur Airport.

Hawa Mahal History : Hawa Mahal was built in the year 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, who was the grandson of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh 2nd, who founded the Jaipur City.
Hawa Mahal was designed by Architect Ustad Lal Chand. Its 5-floor exterior appears like a honeycomb with 953 small windows called Jharokhas. The intention of such unique design is to allow royal ladies to watch everyday life and festivals like “Teej & Gangaur ki Sawari” without having been seen, as they strictly had to obey the rules of "parda" system, which did not allow them to appear in public without face coverings. This architectural feature also allowed cool air from the Venturi effect to pass through, thus making the whole area more pleasant during the high temperatures in summer. Many people see the Hawa Mahal from the street view and think it is the front of the palace, but it is the back.
In 2006, renovation works on Hawa Mahal were undertaken, after a gap of 50 years, to give a facelift to the monument at an estimated cost of Rs 4.5 million.
