- We're spending the next 4 days exploring the Kingdom of Fife in Scotland - this place is AMAZING to road trip ❤️ Today we travel on the Maid of the Forth ferry for a cruise over to Inchcolm Island to check out the Abbey, then travel to Culross to scope out some famous spots and enjoy dinner.
If you haven't noticed by now, we absolutely love Scotland. The people are so welcoming, the food is delicious, the experiences are varied and the landscapes are breathtaking. The Kingodm of Fife offers all that and more - so here we are for the next 4 days to check it out!
Fife is a stunning coastal region in Scotland, we've seen some of the best little fishing towns and villages. Culross is one of those villages we knew we had to check out - cobblestoned streets, history, great food and movie set material.
First stop for the day though was the Maid of the Forth ferry for a cruise around the Firth of Forth as we make our way over to Inchcolm Island. The Abbey was impressive and things go interesting during seagull nesting season.
Be sure to subscribe to keep an eye out for our next Scotland vlogs as we travel more of Fife.

I live in Dalgety Bay I town in Fife
I live in Fife, kirkcaldy! I have to say we are extremely lucky, having the scenery and all the history. Glad you had a great experience 🏴
Thanks Michelle - amazing experience! Lots more to share from Fife, another video up tomorrow.
Thanks for showing my beautiful homeland to the world.
Hope we're doing it justice - amazing palce
Great vlog as ever. Those small spiral staircases were a defence mechanism. Going that most were right handed, you have room to swing a sword when defending from above but no room if attacking from below
legend
Wow - Paul that is super interesting! Thank you. Wish we knew that at the time.
Scotland is so beautiful! Thank you for sharing this vlog! I enjoyed watching it!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
How can anyone dislike your videos? Almost 100k subscribers, congratulations, you guys deserve it!
-Cam & Kat from SLC, UT USA
Too kind, thanks so much Cam & Kat! Had to Google what SLC UT was - feeling knowledgable now ☺️
People on CZcams are weird, they always get a thumbs up from us too!
@mr and mrs interesante awww thanks guys
Beautifully filmed. Love seeing you both in my home country.
I haven't seen you both in T-shirts yet 😆. We've had some nice weather.
Our version of warm is a little different to the locals 🤣
I mean, I knew Scotland was beautiful but each one of your videos surprises at how beautiful the country really is.
Also, I am supremely jealous of the fact that Stacey got to touch a baby alpaca lol
This was the cloudier day of our time as well, the next few are sunnier and beautiful... yeah, soz but you're gonna be crazy jealous in the next vid!
Not going to lie, I've been contemplating a road trip to Scotland more and more lately and I think this video has just given the urge an extra push! 😁
Trust us, do it! We've got 3 more vids from our trip around Fife area driving and it had everything we could want - so beautiful!
@@DanegerAndStacey i livein Fife and was driving yesterday and thought how lucky a was the views were so beautiful. yes Cooross lol we also have Kilconquer, pronounced Kinucker. and locals call Anstruther enster, were an odd but friendly lot
@alison cassells haha we wouldn't say you're odd at all, but friendly as hell for sure! Literally everyone we met in Fife in particular was so lovely and welcoming.
Your artistic eye for creating good video is great!
Awww you're making us blush 😍
@JTH Haha you win the internet today
Pleased to see you guys having such a great time. Really well done videos and gives you a real feel for the place.
I'm from Ireland but Scotland has the most beautiful scenery in the world imo.
'Inch Colm' is an English corruption of the Gaelic 'Inis Cholm' - Colm's Island.(He may have been a hermit.)
Scotch Gaelic may spell it slightly differently.
You are both very positive and enthusiastic.
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the love! Ireland is pretty beautiful as well - we still have to explore more though.
Gaelic and Irish spellings are usually much the same, you guys just pronounce things "wrong" ;-)
@notformebeaky They are from New Zealand you tit?...
Hello from Torridon on the west coast , I’ve been to Ireland many times and it is a beautiful country, all the best 🇮🇪🤝🏴
I love ❤️ animals, can’t wait for the next video! Such a beautiful place 🥰🥰
Awww you're gonna LOVE the next ep!
another well made and informative video.thanks guys.
Thanks Terry!
Wow.never knew Scotland was this beautiful
Wow tbh I've never seen those beautiful views..
Scotland is the place where i wanna travel to
You're going to love the next few videos as well then!
My heart started to race watching you both climb those tiny spiral stairs! Culross looks amazing and I love the relaxed and informative way you both present your vlog.
I live in Fife, and I used to despise it. I have autism and anxiety, which seriously started impeding my travel. During my recovery, I began travelling around Fife in bits and pieces, and I began to realise how pretty aspects of Fife is, when you aren’t trapped in where you live. It’s made me strive to break free of my house more
Glad you're taking the small steps to get out and explore Fife - it really is beautiful!
Just watched this, I’m the waitress in your video of the red lion!! Glad you enjoyed our pub and our special village of Culross!! 😂
Hi nice video glad you like Scotland should try and visit Edinburgh in August when the festival is on loads of different things to do never get bored
We've heard about a few of these festivals!
Ahhhh heading here soon - thank you for the inspiration!! x
Hope you have the BEST time x 😊
Been following your time in Scotland ..And as a Scotsman you guys are doing a great job of showing off my country ...Thanks
Making us blush - thanks Tommy!
Great video- very perceptive to say Culross 'feels a bit Dutch'. In a small way it is. The next town along is called Limekilns. Lime was exported from there and the empty ships would return from many places, including Holland, with Dutch tiles that were used on the roofs (the orange tiles). The buildings themselves are 'Lime washed' with tiled roofing and this style is emblematic of Fife fishing towns. The area is crammed with history. Thanks for highlighting it!
Glad our perception was right! We heard that story after actually, the tiles being used for ballast on the ships and then being left in Scotland - great stuff
That bench really offers a super great view.
Great place to chill for a while and watch the world go by :)
@@DanegerAndStacey super nice. Stay safe, guys.
I'm from Fife!! 😁 I'm soo glad you both enjoyed yourselves, it is beautiful here! ❤
You live in a great place!
Many thanks guys, lovely filming and excellent quality of footage,it's great to visit places with you I have never visited myself even though I'm a Brit.Looking forward to your next video
Great feedback, thanks Alan. You're definitely going to enjoy the next few vids as well
I really enjoy your channel! 😀 I like the fact that you take the time to enjoy where you visit, instead of rushing around like headless chickens trying to visit as many places as you can, take as many pics and videos as you can in a few hours. You both seam like a really nice couple too! Me and my partner watch all your videos. Really enjoy your Scottish videos they are really great! 😍👍💗
Thanks guys, we really appreciate that! Our goal is to travel, explore, experience - not talk about the act of making videos. We want you guys to feel like you're travelling with us and have experienced the adventure with us as well
@@DanegerAndStacey yes we do feel that we're traveling with you! I watch a few travel vlog channels and yours is by far the best one. The detail and quality of your content is brilliant! 😀👍💗
I absolutely loved this video! I am planning a road trip and was looking everywhere for videos on each specific region I wanted to see so this video was perfect! Cheers
Yay - so nice to hear, enjoy your road trip
I am a Fifer, live in Falkirk and am about a 10min drive from Culross. Love it there, you should have gone up to the Abbey, super old, graves dating back to the 1500's, just uphill from the pub! Glad you enjoyed your stay.
Thank you - we loved our stay! Shocked in the best ways possible
Just discovered your channel today! Going to binge watch now. I’m from fife and regularly vlog :-) the red lion is a great pub!
Cheers Robert - cool spot you live in mate!
Lovely wee video have a blast over here guys but be very careful, no drinking and driving in Scotland, stay safe xxx
Thanks Jackie! Those strict rules killed my vibe a little, but we can live with it, too beautiful not to explore 👍🏼
Great blog. From Fife myself and it is stunning.
I'm from the Kingdom (Dunfermline) 😊 , you've really showed the areas beauty. Thank you.
Thanks for the kind words!
Fife is a beautiful county, glad you’re enjoying it.
Loved it, thank you!
Glad your enjoying the greatest country in the world! Liking the videos! 🏴🏴🏴
LOVING it!
Everytime you squeezed through those winding stairs, all I could do was remember that scene from Friends with the couch. 'Pivot. Pivot. Piiiivot'.
Hahaha 😂
Awesome 👏🏾. Thanks guys this is my home town😁🙌🏼❤️🥂.
Our pleasure!
@2.27 Sat in that cafe whilst waiting to do the Loony Dook lol. What a day. Great vids btw.
Culross is stunning. I really liked your video. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit. I live in Fife and it really is quite beautiful. Ach the whole of Scotland is beautiful. Braemar is gorgeous and Glen Nevis is too is you enjoy a trek. 😀
It really is beautiful - you live in an amazing place
@@DanegerAndStacey I've seen New Zealand on the TV and it looks beautiful too. 😁
Really enjoyed this vid 👍🏼
😍 thanks
Culross looks like a time capsule - incredibly well preserved. Bet you have noticed how different the east coast of Scotland is to the west in terms of geography. Great country pubs with fantastic food on offer are quire a thing generally in the UK - like you I love them!
Absolutely - feels like we're in a different land all together. Loving how much we're exploring in the UK the past few years!
I’m a born and bred fifer and although myself and every other Scot bashes fife, it can be super pretty. I now live in Dundee, which is an hours train (least from where I lived, since we’re close to the bridges) and it’s so lovely to drive through or get the train and just admire the countryside.
My favourite thing is going to limekilns, especially when the sun is setting and hitting off the “ropes” of the Queensferry crossing, with either the perfect sunset or the darkest stormy skies 😍
It definitely is a pretty place - so much going on, you just gotta look for it! New video just went live hope you enjoy that one as well
Brilliant - thanks. Re: tower stairs - to ward off attackers it’s very difficult for a right handed person to fight a right handed person above them due to the spiral.
This is honestly such a brilliant piece of info.... that we wish we knew in advance
You were right about Culross looking Dutch. This is largely due to the roof tiles which were imported from the Netherlands and Flanders which had a very big trade network with Fife. The trade went back to the early middle ages.
Yeah... Outlander & Beyond... a must see in Culross. I visited this fantastic photographer in 2017 and bought two images. Really loved the chat.
Glad you've visited and enjoyed as well!
Awesome video ! If you want to see Puffins there is loads of them on Lunga Island for example, I saw them from really up close a week ago there during the 3 islands day trip with Staffa tours - highly recommend!
Thanks for the heads up!
Always great content! ALWAYS!!! I will never get tired of stalking you erm watching your videos I mean. Your avid fan from the PH 🇵🇭 ❤️❤️❤️
🤣 Stalker love haha
@@DanegerAndStacey yes, indeedy! LOL.
❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely loved the vlog! I am lucky enough to live in this glorious part of the world 💕 it was lovely to see you capture it's magic and beauty. Thank you 👍 and if you would really like to see puffins, come back again and take the boat trip from Anstruther 🛳️ there is an island FULL of them 😍 xx
Next time we'll have to take the boat from Anstruther then - sounds like a winner! Lots more Scotland vlogs to come 😀
Very cool.
🤙🏼
The Red Lion is popular with us locals. Lovely food and lovely atmosphere
Definitely agree - amazing food!
Loved this video! You stayed in my home village of Dysart, where they filmed some scenes from Outlander, ..such a beautiful little place. New subscriber right here, looking forward to seeing many more of your travel vids.
Yay - thanks for the support! You live in a beautiful place, we've got nothing but love
Love the fact you loved it :) hope it lived up to your dreams :)
Well beyond expectations!
I've lived in Fife all my life. From small mining towns and villages, to the new town of Glenrothes. None of which are particularly pleasant to look at. Its easy to forget or take for granted that there's many beautiful coastal towns, and fantastic countryside.Hope you enjoyed your stay.?Easier, if you can crack the local dialect but that could take years. Now, to watch the video.
You live in a beautiful region! We loved our 4 days in Fife - have 3 more videos to share as we explore more of those coastal towns and fall in love.
Great guys you pair enjoy,i live in the kingdom in Fife.
You live in a stunning place!
fab fife.
Living it to the fullest!
Me and my wife got married on inchcolm 10 years ago this week!! A very special place 🏴
How magical! Hope there weren't too many seagulls for your wedding.
Haha no real seagull issues for us that day 🦅
I am scottish myself and i stay around 10 minutes away from places in this video. I have watched all of your videos and you have been to places that ive never had the chance to get to and dream of seeing such as Lewis. i hope you had the chance to experience a little bit of the Scots Gaelic language too. Thank you for the videos, they have inspired me to get my butt in gear and travel again once this covid stuff is a bit better. Thank you and keep up the good work
That's so good to hear! We hope you get the chance to visit a few of these places and see it how we do
Beautiful old castles! You need to add some haggis to your adventure.
Definitely need some haggis in our life haha
proud to say that am fi Fife :)
We LOVE Fife! Everyone we've met from there is so nice :)
How good is the red lion, you’re right it is a very popular little place and the food is amazing. Hope you tried the steak and haggis pie, it’s heavenly! Great to see that Fife is on the tourist map!
The food was exceptional!! Loved that we heard about it and decided to stop
I've seen puffins about a month ago on a ferry in North Berwick. It's just 30 min away from Edinburgh :)
Guess we have to come back then!
Scotland is definitely the place to be! The Northcoast 500 route round the north of Scotland is definitely something you should do! My partner and I done it a few weeks back and loved every minute of it! Some of the views looked like something from Jurrasic Park haha
We've heard loads about the 500, need to look into that for next time!
First! Hope you guys are doing well on your travels!
🏆 Good to hear from ya man - travels are going well!
Fifer here. Glad you visited my homeland, too many people miss us out. There is a saying in Scotland that if a job is never ending it is like painting the Forth Bridge. That is because they used to paint the bridge to protect it and by the time they finished going from one side to the other you had to start all over again. I know that is true because my grandfather used to do that job.
Thanks for watching, Keith! Credit to your Grandfather then, sounds like a biiiiig task 😂
My Dad was one of the last painters on the Forth Rail Bridge 2011..
Painted cobbled stones? I don't think so] lol. A lot of towns and villages/roads in Scotland are protected, owners of some buildings/houses are not even allowed to renew their windows for modern windows! I am a proud Scot like many others in Scotland and I reckon we are so fortunate to have this wild beautiful Scotland outside our door! I could not ask for anything more, out playing golf in Scotland shouting four, Wee Robbie Burns lives next door, Haste ye back to take in some more!
If you like the whole cobble stone street feel, if you ever go to Edinburgh try look for Dean Village, its 5 minutes from the city centre. (If you can somehow walk fast and ignore all the amazing sights on the way around the centre)
Gutted we ran out of time for Edinburgh - next time, thanks for the suggestions
Hi from Fife, I love living here ☺️
Hey. I love Princess Chelsea. You should go to North Berwick when you're here. The Scottish seabird centre is there. And boat trips to the Bass Rock.👍
I grew up in Tayport. The Fife Coastal Route.
Hi I live in fife and it's such a well kept secret as most tourists head from Edi to the highlands!!!!! Glad you enjoyed it its usually very quiet and worth a few days visit. Try a trip to loch leven nearby.
The next few videos we make might share that secret a bit more sorry Norman - but it is an amazing place you live.
I used to live in DD1 but study in St.A though I used visit Anstruther monthly for no reason what so ever. ALBA BU GRATH ..
@ Blunebula 13een you mean not for the Fish and Chips? 🤣
Wellcome To Scotland
Thanks! We loved it
I live in fife, Cupar great video
Heeeeey! We love Fife! Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
I live in Dalgety bay which is fife side and tbh never looked at it as a great place until this video❤️
So nice to hear, Kiera - hope you can check it out soon
Just for a bit of fun, look at the history of Lord Elgin, they own Culross and much of the land around. I was site manager when Broomhall was refurbished, quite a place and quite a family.
Please forgive, I should have said the family name is Bruce, where have we heard that before.:-). yup same family. just moved on a few generations.:-))
Looks a beautiful place I am from the uk
My home county!
You guys should totally come to Burntisland!
At this point we want to see as much of Scotland as possible!
From Dunfermline. Lovely place to be.
😍
You should try and make a point to go to Dunfermline Abbey to see where Robert the Bruce is buried.
S W I was about to post the same thing! :)
Scotland is so beautiful.... don't tell anyone I said that though ok? haha Paddy xox
Too late - we told everyone 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏽♀️ haha
My country of birth.Didnt realise it was that beautiful.😔 Hello from Australia.x
It's amazing, Sharon!
😍😍
Wow! How beautiful. From the landscape to the beaches and the gorgeous quaint little villages. Amazing 🥰😘 No puffins though, bummer! 😁
The puffin hunt continues!
Good luck👍
In edinburgh there is cramond island visited at low tide check notice board
The tiles on the roofs at Culross came from The Netherlands, the area was a coal mining area and exported coal to the Netherlands. Ships don't like travelling empty so brought used the local tiles made in Holland. The locals use them for roofs.
Wow! Thank you for filling us in :)
@@DanegerAndStacey it's actually quite sad. By the middle of the 20th century the whole economy if the Area was dependent on coal mining. Then in the 1980s all the mines were closed. The areas economy has never recovered.
I'm a Scot in my fifties and I've only just been to Anstruther and Pittenweem. It's unbelievably pretty. They charge full price for the fish and chips, rhough.
They definitely do, but it's definitely worth it isnt it?! Delicious!
@@DanegerAndStacey Yes. I've never seen smoked fish in batter before!
I went to Iceland in puffin nesting season this year and had the same results. No adorable puffin sightings...
Thats a shame! We feel ya
I live in fife, I hope you enjoyed it💙
Loved it - thanks!
Fifes great to live in. There’s a lot of stuff to do.
I'm from fife and I didn't know about the sticks thing for seagulls. We just do a cowardly run if there's loads of them lol
HAHA
My Campbell and Littlejohn ancestors come from Fife.
A beautiful part of the world!
Thanks ...
The chimney from the Longgannet Power Station you can see at 9.45 is about to disappear. Demolition date 9th December 21. The buildings behind it have already gone. Will be a strange change to the skyline, who knows what will be replacing it (though my cynical side says it wouldn't surprise me if it was a new housing estate)
Very nice video. However I do feel badly for you....FOUR DAYS?????? Returned from Scotland July 3 after 15 days ( third time in less than two years ; - ) ). YOU NEED SO MUCH MORE TIME!!! Scotland is magic. Love your video. Thanks.
That was in Fife only - we spent more like 10 in total and explored the outer Hebrides as well
@@DanegerAndStacey Oh good! Each time I go it's been more time. Retiring this year and am taking a flat for a year in Edinburgh. Applications are in the process to extend my visa. Love Scotland. Cheers.
Next trip. Mingling with the locals of Methil!
Everytime I see Stacey's Vans shoes, it makes me want to buy one. You guys should get paid for advertising them. Lol
Haha you should, she loves them. We recommend stuff on our site like sunglasses cos we always get asked - we make a small commission for any sales via this page 😍 danegerandstacey.com/our-equipment/
You're extremely underestimating how vicious our seagulls can be. They're flying gangsters of the coast
Bruh, no lies, they are ruthless 😂
Pleeeese come to Edinburgh! You'll love our city - it's a UNESCO heritage site and I have some great recommendations for you!
My home town in the distance at 4:58
Born in Kinross crossed on Forth rail bridge supposed to throw out a penny for good luck ,I did
Ahhh we'll just have to come back and throw a penny!
