  • I bought a 2022 Yamaha MT 07 abs new. After my First Ride review and first impression to see if it’s still worth owning in 2024 vs the Triumph Trident 660, Ktm 790 duke, Honda Hornet cb750 or 650, Kawasaki z650, Suzuki GSX-8S or GSX-8R. I’ve have had a Vstrom 650, Street triple 660, tracer 900 gt, triumph tiger 1050 abs and my wife’s SV650. I almost got a Tracer 9 gt plus + but for 3x the money and all the weight gain, all those electronics and over powered engine for Japanese roads, it’s not worth it. And there is just something about simple brakes, simple suspension, and cable throttle. I’ve add cruise control from MCcruise to have a bit of luxury. I wasn’t going to get a bigger, more expensive, less useable bike just for cruise control, I also like veridian cruise and will look at them for a ride by wire bike I’m concidering. The bike has a euro 5 ZARD exhaust muffler that is plenty loud without being as obnoxious as sc project or arrow and passes road inspection like leo vince to be street legal here in Japan. 車検okマフラーオーケー. I’ve added ebc double-h sintered break pads that were definitely worth it. It has kyb kayaba suspension for the rear shock and hyperpro street box with the progressive front fork spring for a slip easy install in cartridge kit on a budget. Adjustable levers, rear sets, handgrards, and bar end mirrors were nice littles add-ons. And basic amazon case covers, axle sliders, dayton frame sliders, and custom tayler 33 reflective rim tape all in black and gold for protection. And of course my micro mini blinkers and siquential leds in the Rear with a nice tail tidy that was much cheaper than a brand like Yoshura or akrapovic. I’ve aslo had a bagster comfort seat, that I had to sell and now like the oem comfortseat but would love the Corbin or sargent seats.
    This may still be the best light weight naked bike for the money.

    The cruise control:

    This makes a great daily rider as well as touring, there is a lot they don’t tell you when looking at big first rides and reviews. Do you need upside down forks? Do you need traction control and power modes on a bike of this size? Do midsized small motorcycles tour well with the best mods for your bike? Riding a motorbike at night or all day doesn’t have to be a crazy expensive top of the line touring luxury, budget works great and will save money for you to get your favorite mods. For stunts, track days, and a brutal sounding engine with plenty of torque, this is hard to beat. All the features you need for dank wheelies, stoppies, and even drifting. A very usable stunt bike.

    ISSUES I'VE HAD:
    I no longer own the bike, but while I've had it, some issues.
    A reminder, I'm a Yamaha mechanic and installed it in my Yamaha dealer here in Tokyo.
    1: Sometimes it wouldn't turn on. (Had to reprogram)
    2: It would turn on but wouldn't set. No matter how many times I turned on and off the crusie or the bike (reprogramming fixed)
    3: When I set the speed, it would accelerate and wouldn't stop till I used the kill switch on the bike. (Reprogramming didnt help, uninstalled and re-installed)
    4: Would shut off while using. (Again reprogrammed)
    When I contact Mccruise, they always give fast replies with lots of detail. This time, they stopped replying when I brought up the issues.
    Maybe they didn't see my email.
    I'm planning to get cruise for the Honda Transalp and like the "Mccruise" because it has all the features of OEM cruise (including resume/increase/reduce speed), but I don't think I trust it.
    I'll probably go with "Veridian Cruise" that only has on/off/set. It's half the price and a simpler install and uninstall (in case of warranty claims).
    Less to go wrong.

    Hey man glad to see you are still making great content, loved this video, i was thinking about installing just a simple mechanical throttle lock, but this may be the one i end up going with., however the slight delay in canceling seems very annoying although im sure you have gotten used to it.

      Yes, used to it.
      I've tried throttle locks. Too slow up hill, to fast down hill.
      To hard to turn off in emergencies.
      Illegal in many states and countries

    Hey, it's nice to stumble upon your channel seeing someone from the US in Japan riding motorcycles. Maybe you can answer this question for me, but I watch a lot of other Japanese motorcycle channels and it seems like a lot of them ride older motorcycles that are tricked out, why is that? For example I have seen so many CB750s, ZRX1100-1200, etc with flatside carbs and a bunch of other parts that easily exceed the value of the motorcycle, where as in the states a 20 year old motorcycle is considered worn out junk even if you have taken care of it. In fact the only time I have seen anyone riding something with flat sides was at the drag strip.

      Japanese tend to keep things till they break.
      It was perfect when I bought it, with japanese reliability it's perfect now.
      But the resale value will be close to nothing.
      That being said a well maintained japanese bike will run longer than the owner plans to live, so it's always cheaper to mod current bike than sell and buy new. Especially since you current bike has all the mods you originally wanted on it and the new bike has none.
      And most japanese don't really care about moder electronics as much as we do in the west.
      Of course there are accepting, but what's more likely to pop up in you feed, a super custome cb750, or a stock 2023 cb650?
      And used bikes here are trash after 60,000km. But if you have a 30 year old bike with lest than 20k, you'll turn a huge profit because it's to old for moder road regulations. My 2022 mt has a lot of rules I need to follow when modifying

      @@kairyurider Ah, you're right about what is popping up in my feed but some channels I watch are just doing maintenance on older motorcycles that look stock. I think one mechanic just works on cb750's which must be a really popular motorcycle there considering the amount of people spending money to just have them maintained after 30+ years.
      I did watch a video the other day where some American commented that he couldn't believe a 2000-2010 CBR that still had stock turn signals on it. I know a lot of riders who can't stand to have a motorcycle that is over three years old, constantly trading them in for something newer and losing money each time.
      My current motorcycle is a '04 ZRX1200R with over 62,000 km. Everything except the engine itself has been rebuilt at this point. The used market in southern states is stupid right now, I could easily get 6k for my ZRX. Two weeks ago a non-running ZRX that had been sitting for over 5 years sold for $2,500 locally. Two '02 models (green and red) are listed for $6,000 and have over 20k miles on them, an '01 with over 55k miles for $5,500.

      Honda still makes and sells cb400, cb750, and cb1300 as brand new bikes, so that's a big part of those being all over in Japan.
      The new hornet has yet to come to japan. The cb650r sells so well, japanese love 4 cylinders

    Does anyone know if this thing would work on an R7? I looked on mc cruise and it only says they made a model for the mt07, but considering they both have the same exact engine and whatnot, do you think it would work on an R7 too?

    • @kairyurider
      @kairyurider  Před rokem +1

      It **should** work with the r7. The electronics are all in the same places and al the same parts.
      But I can't say for 100%. This is made for a 2020 mt07 but it went on my 2022 easily.
      For the r7 the biggest difference should be plastics and routing to the handle bars.
      But I can't say for 100% sure it will work.
      Message mccruise, they're usually very helpful

    if you get all the cable plays dialed in properly, throttle, "carburetor" and servo, those delays you mention should be reduced to a minimum. And the rev up on clutch engage is from the clutch switch activating somewhere mid way of the clutch lever travel but once it's on the CC disengages about as fast as pressing the brakes. For me, on my 2019 650 v strom, pressing the clutch firmly (not feathering it) works as good as the brakes. Yeah the engine might rev a bit but it's already slipping and then 1/2 a second or so it's off. I get no increase in speed or the crazy revs you got (it seems like it disengaged but you kept the throttle fixed so .... well, try pulling the clutch without letting go of the throttle even without CC and see what happens :) ). Also to me it seems like the CC engages pretty much instantly... maybe it's my brain not realising I've been pressing the button through the glove and all for a second. Oh, another important thing, that calibration/servo cable adjustment at the end is PARAMOUNT. If done improperly it's going to mess things up. Also tweaking the gains (coarse and fine) and the acceleration spread helps a lot with the smoothness. I get smooth operation as low as 30 kph. I feel the engine reving up& down but no jerkiness. Today was my 2nd day since I have it but I already love it :)))

      I've adjusted it all 4 times, not sur either can get it much closer.

      @@kairyurider my mistakes were:
      -not leaving enough slack on the throttle cable;
      -messing up with the slack of the servo cable (at the servo), after doing the final calibration. I saw there is some and I thought I should get rid of it.
      After fixing these it works really well.

    700€ for this is too much man. We are talking 150€ max… plus there is throttle locking knobs that sell for 25€ so im gonna go with that.

    • @kairyurider
      @kairyurider  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Throttle lock gains speed down hill and looses speed up hill. And in an emergency it doesn't always turn off.
      This sis worth it because there is no other aftermarket maker that I know off.
      OEM cruise can often cost 300€ and this needs to be adapted as an after market fix.
      I would never lock my throttle knowing a deer, cat, child, or monkey could pop out at any second. But I understand most people don't need cruise that bad. I do 10hr days when I ride so it is too me.

    • @jonasrautiainen6714
      @jonasrautiainen6714 Před 7 měsíci

      Its easy to use throttle knobs just twist it from the end as you accelerating or decelerating so its super simple and not dangerous at all… its just stupid to buy an aftermarket cruisecontrol that costs 700€… even if you want to assemble one in the car aftermarket its simple ans less expensive than this😂 im sorry but this product is not worth it man…

    • @kairyurider
      @kairyurider  Před 7 měsíci +2

      @jonasrautiainen6714 why would a throttle lock be comparable if you need to keep adjusting it?
      Throttle locks are not legal here because of all the crashes they cause.
      But if it's good for you, glad your satisfied. Sorry I don't know how to reprogram and adapt a car cruise and biuld a waterproof housing for it on my bike.
      Still very happy with my investment.

    • @jonasrautiainen6714
      @jonasrautiainen6714 Před 7 měsíci

      Its not a lock its located in the knob and is easier to adjust than the thing you got. It also is legal because it is not a lock it just tighthens it. This product you are using is looking good and stuff but 700€? Noooo man… And the thing with the knob is its affordable for everyone easiest to assemble and easiest to use!

      Can't compare them unfortunately, proper cruise control regulates speed, so many motorbikes change speed so easily on slightest incline or decline, which makes throttle stoppers crap in comparison
