  • This video is about a misconception where most of the people thinks that if there is a problem of diesel clatter noise in cars and injector calibration will fix that problem . but its not true , this is not how it works , in this video i have explained what injector calibration actually means and how to reduce diesel engine clatter noise in reality , which is a result of piston slap , people usually refer this piston slap as engine noise or clatter or knocking noise or ticking noise or noisy tdi , its a very common thing in diesel engines and can increase or decrease depending upon how the engine was broke in when it was new . can be suppressed with help of some fuel additives , but the results only lasts till that addictive is in tank
    People who are in most problem are those which have a 1.2 TDI , 1.5 TDI ,1.6 TDI , 2.0 TDI engine by volkswagen group , like vento , rapid , polo , fabia , jetta , some golf models , passat , audi a3 etc

    I agree with you but you can change injectors deviation just by changing the ID code. It's normal procedure after injectors have been restored. But sometimes old wear out injectors work better on code from random injector. its like old locks start to open with key from different lock and even better than with its own. Chances are low but so as repair advice😂

      Sir , in my experience i have noticed that if we give the engine 3-4 mins on cold start to warm up ( without any load ) and turn on ac while we start to move (not on idle ) , that reduces the clatter a lot . And on top of that a good quality engine oil definately helps .

    Hello mate. Great explanation! I own a 1.6 TDI which has run 1.5Lakh km. Recently I have been facing an oscillating motion on my engine during 1200-1400 RPM specifically. Thereafter, I got my transmission and engine mounts replaced along with an engine flush and oil service. Now the engine runs smooth, but that oscillating motion hasn't been gone yet. Could it be the pendulum mount or any other mechanical fault on any component? Could it be a turbo leak, MAF sensor, or turbo boost control issue? Any suggestions on a vague diagnosis would be of great help.

    • @yourDIYneeds
      @yourDIYneeds  Před 2 lety +2

      Sir usually pendulum mount has a little bit of slack in the bolt hole to adjust it for the kind of feel you want from your engine , if you tilt the engine backward then the power is sudden and sometimes it can be jerky and opposite on the ther side .
      If your problem is more like a jerk in certain rpm range then i would advise to clean 2 things
      1. MAF sensor
      2 EGR return circuit pipe , if its chocked then it can throw same symptoms.
      I have video of both topic , you can use it if you want to .
      And last it to reset your cars ECU
      Disconnect the negative battery cable for 15 mins , then reconnect it , start the vehicle and let it idle for 5 mins .
      Hope it helps

      @@yourDIYneedsyourDIYneeds Hi, I did all the three steps mentioned above. But still the problem exists. Could it be the diesel gate update which made the car perform like this? I have watched your video and understand what you are saying and discribing ref injector minimum deviation quantities.
    However this would not appear to be correct from my real world experience of this issue.
    After trying to unsucsses fully perform a VCDS IDE 06141 minimum deviation quantity test.
    I now find that my exhaust has a strong smell of diesel,and my normal recorded mpg has reduced from 56 mpg to 44 mpg.
    How could this happen if the ECU is only controling fuel ballance in each cylinder whilst engine is idling 780-800 rpm ?
    Where should l start looking for this loss og mpg issue.
    Running a VCDS full system scan on my 2009 VW Golf Mk6 1.6 tdi cayc shown no error codes ,yet i am suffering a large mpg reduction after this failed test. Any help or surgestion would be most appreciated with this issue

    • @yourDIYneeds
      @yourDIYneeds  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Due to the test , the system received a sort of reset . And as per the base values stored in ECU are mostly designed as per the ideal conditions , which in the real world rarely happen.
      So what you can do
      1 - use a fuel system cleaner , sometimes a sticking injector can also reduce your MPG values , as you can smell fuel , that means the mix is running rich .
      2 . Give it a soft reset .by disconnecting the battery for 15 mins and then reconnecting it back again , then let it idle for at least 3-4 minutes , in that time ECU will relearn all the values and adjust accordingly.

      Can I suggest it's a turbo whistle you're hearing? It's a mild yet pleasant whistle when you accelerate and stop when you lift the foot off throttle. If this is not what it sounds in your car, then it could be air leaking into cabin. I would see start checking the sunroof joints, window, and other areas where air can enter cabin

    • @yourDIYneeds
      @yourDIYneeds  Před rokem +1

      Yes , you are correct sir , in both ways , it was actually sound of turbo sucking air , earlier it was not audible in cabin but later as the dust started to get deposited on the air inlet port of the air conditioner's fresh air mode ( which lets the outside air in , its location is just on top of turbo ) and due to that dust the flap was unable to seal that port properly, and that was the complete reason why i was hearing the noise
      After cleaning the inlet port everything was back to normal

      🙏ste Navjot Singh Sir. My colleague 1.5 Ameo highline 2018 model which clocked 76000 on ODO also had same problem(He bought 2nd hand upon my insistence).
      The clattering was so much, that whole engine used to vibrate as if INJECTOR was malfunctioning. Took upon the blame myself & visited 2-3 mechanics to no avail.
      Every one including my nearest VW showroom said
      " Sir eeeey tho common hi VW TDI engines mey. 76000 km chal chuki hi na, itna clattering noise tho chalega"😩 karke.
      🥺 But my friend was hell bent on engine smoothness. He actually bought 2nd hand VW brand looking at my AMEO TDI absolute engine smoothness ( even VW service center guys are surprised). But no TDI engines are available any more. Hence he went for 2nds.
      😍esey insaan ka dil nahi thodna chata hu💘.
      SO DID THE FOLLOWING THINKING IT WOULD BE RESOLVED 🥺
      ❌ Got annual service done from outside ( engine oil changed, OEM oil,air, fuel filters were changed).
      🙃No use.
      ❌Again asked him to Clean fuel tank after 10days. (Cleaning tank with new sponge.)
      🙃No use.
      ❌Then suspected STATOR MOTOR. Since early morning 1st Crank takes 3-4 secs ,but subsequent cranking takes milliseconds 🤔. Hence couldn't find fault with stator motor
      ❌ Doubted battery. But it too was 6 month old🤯 & in perfect voltage condition.
      ❌PISTON RINGS TOO WERE DOUBTFUL.
      😩 Then how come 1st cranking take sooo long & engine vibrates heavily⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️
      👹Then doubted FUEL INJECTORS to be culprit. But common couldn't do anything from his side.
      ❌Also doubted cam shaft sensor. But no clinching evidence was found.
      ❌ Throttle body too was questioned.
      ❌ There's was also oil leakage from TURBO INLET PIPE. After MAF sensor.🙆
      My friend & I both are deeply upset for not being able to get the car service done. We have to travel 130 km every time to get the car repaired. No mechanic had knowledge about VW's in my locality😌😏.
      🤬🤬😡 We are ready to shell upto 1 lakh if required but no one is able to tell us the root cause of the problem.
      🔥Then I took it upon myself & done the following on trail & error method.
      👌 Watched yourDIYneeds umpteen times( only my wife, myself & this channel creator knew how many nights, days & months I spent watching his videos thoroughly.)
      1️⃣ St Engine flush: instead of diesel I carried out flush with petrol, just for 2minutes & drained oil.
      2️⃣nd poured some cheap oil brand of 15W40 of 4.3 ltr worth 600/- (recommend is 5W40) & had run the engine for 30 mnts. Drained it completely till the last drop.
      3️⃣ 👌PURCHASED AMSOIL signature series 5W40 grade engine oil & filled it
      4️⃣🌟 ALL FILTERS WERE AGAIN CHANGED. OEM ONLY.
      5️⃣ 🌟MAF SENSOR WAS THOROUGHLY CLEANED WITH PETROL.( USED SYRINGE 💉 FOR PRESSURE🤪🤪)
      6️⃣🌟ALSO CLEANED TURBO INLET LINE INCLUDING AIR FILTER INLET LINE & PCV VALVE WITH PETROL COMPLETELY & ensured that they r dry.
      NOTE: Thought of cleaning condenser too but luckily my friend had an accident🤭🤭🤭😃 & got NEW CONDENSER COVERED BY INSURANCE.
      ✅✅✅✅✅
      RESULT: VOILAAA💪💪💪💪💪🦾🦾🦾🦾🦾🦾🦾🦾🦾🦾🦾🦾🦾🦾🦾👍👍👍👍👍👍. Engine smoothness is utter unbelievable 🤭😃😍😍👏👏👏👏. No vibrations during idling. As good as a new one. No need of new ENGINE mounts too😃.
      Hope this helps. 🙏🙏🙏
      Forgot 1 thing ji : we also ensured that the fuel tank is almost empty (5ltr reserve after 0 level on display too was used almost) & filled with SHELL POWER DIESEL and blasted the car past 100 for 30-40mnts to clean injectors as much as possible.
      Pls do it & feel the difference.

      Sir its already 123000 , so don't use a flush , there may be some seals which are still working fine because there is some amount of carbon on it , but after flushing they may start to leak . So anything over 60k kms is not a good idea to flush .

What could be the issue ?? Right CV joint has mild leakage.....nothing else looks messy to me. plz help.

      You say 'piston slap' is the reason? Then all engines new or old will have that noise? C'mon man.😣

    • @yourDIYneeds
      @yourDIYneeds  Před 11 měsíci

      Sir , before 2006-2007 all engines came with high pressure piston rings , which doesn't allow much movement on the piston inside the combustion chamber but after that time almost every brand moved to low pressure piston brings on the name of fuel efficiency, but the downside of low pressure was , till the time engine was cold they had more wobble than the high pressure rings , but as soon as the engine warms up , rings expand and put more pressure on the cylinder walls which make the whole piston and conrod combo a bit more stable , thats the reason why cold engines are more noisy than a properly warmed up engine .
      Hope i made my point clear sir .
      And piston slap is one of the reasons not the whole story,

    • @rxsyete
      @rxsyete Před 11 měsíci

      @@yourDIYneeds
      You are correct about reduced ring tension but wobble due that is minimal and not audible in most cases ...try detonation at idle rpm due initial microsecond squirt of fuel from injectors don't autoignite causing momentary detonation which is now improved by multi-injection pulses.

    • @yourDIYneeds
      @yourDIYneeds  Před 11 měsíci

      Yes , multi injection helps a lot to reduce the clatter as pressure increases gradually as compared to single injection. But the noise from detonation is completely different as compared to piston slap .
