  • If you insist on buying an SUV, the 2023 model Dacia Duster might be your best bet. It's not luxury by any stretch of the imagination, but at ~£24,000 brand new in stock right now, it's one of the cheapest cars you can buy full stop. Paired with the higher horsepower TCe 150 engine and a 6 speed DSG transmission, it's a much more well rounded build than the TCe 90 I reviewed last year.

I have had mine around 6 weeks now. Love it. Fuel consumption great and goes pretty well too. Stop start is a pain but easy to turn off.

What is this guy on...about? Handling, ride, noise, engine restart, (if you don't switch it off) seat comfort, no long rides! I have a manual, but no agreement with what has been said. As for automatic, well it may get better with mileage? This car is not for him, it's not a BMW. Six speeds not enough????? The average person will be doing a short distance most of the time. And it is not a large car, whatever the reference to large SUV was. Oh and 150 hp not as much as some cars! If anyone wants one it's worth going to the dealer.

Interesting video this, I have the the manual 150ps Prestige model purchased second hand. Yes its quirky but my wife and I love it. I recently had an Audi A3 1.0 on lease and hated it. The Dacia ticks all my boxes and our next vehicle will be the tested version (DSG).

Cheap, cheerful and a decent size, yes it's not the most luxurious or well equipped but it's definitely something in the right direction considering the current financial climate!
It's quite impressive how much car you can get for your money nowadays too! I'd even dare say that most people would assume its a higher price point than it is based on the rugged, modern-esque aesthetic. Great review!

Thanks Joe! Personally I'd much rather get a used car instead where you can get a lot more for your money, but if new is a must, and an SUV is a must.... this isn't bad!

Oh, and it’s a 1.3 litre engine! Amazing what a low pressure turbo can do!

You should try and find out about the car you are reviewing before commenting, its a 1300cc not a 1500cc.

for a similar price there is plenty of competition, Dacia are no longer a cheap car and the Mg ZS is better and for a little more the MG HS is even better still £27000 for the top of the range Trophy and if you shop around on car discount sites there is better value out there

So what you're really saying is that is total shit. Take your money and buy a good second hand BMW x3 instead. I actually did buy a duster in 2016 it was the 1.5 turbo diesel and yes the engine noise was horrendous particularly when he was cold and the quality of the interior wasn't fantastic either an only after a short while how to go back to the manufacturers for a new steering rack. I did a couple of videos of you on CZcams just after I bought in a year after. Not that sort of thing I would buy again

But some people wouldn't want a BMW because of their image....... that's not the image you'd be thinking of, it's the *other* one.
