Did Kim Kardashian Damage Marilyn Monroe’s Dress?

- Was the most famous dress in American history damaged when Kim Kardashian wore it? That's the question being asked about the iconic beaded Marilyn Monroe gown Kim wore to the 2022 Met Gala. The dress was only worn once by Marilyn. New side-by-side photos of the dress, taken before and after Kim wore it, appear to show the stretched fabric and missing beads. The iconic designer Bob Mackie, who created the dress, said letting Kim wear it was a "big mistake."
The answer... YES!
Any time you wear a historical artifact you DAMAGE IT!
Its like Cinderlla but without the evil characters 🤣
Who cares
As to why was this even allowed to happen??
Really? A historical artifact? It's at a Ripleys believe it or not.

The fact they allowed her to wear such a historic piece is wrong in itself. They shouldn’t have let her wear it in the first place.
True. Man, if Marilyn Monroe's ghost haunts her... Oh well
They should've known you can't "lose weight" from a fake behind. It stays the same size no matter how much weight you lose. They put a modern a$$ in a vintage dress.

Imagine being so entitled that you’d have the sheer audacity to try and squeeze yourself into a dress that holds so much historic value just to ‘stand out’. Not only that, but *she knew* what she was getting herself into, yet still went to such lengths to fit into a dress that would never fit her. Someone needs to hold this clown accountable.
Historic value? Marilyn did nothing but be a stepping stone for Hollywood to sexualize woman.

Ripley’s isn’t even a museum, no real museum would ever allow their historic pieces to be woren, it goes against code of conduct for museums. This dress should’ve been in the Smithsonian Museum to begin with. That was the first mistake!

@@MissNayNay22 I'm not surprised. Marilyn Monroe was actively ridiculed and degraded for being perceived as just a sex symbol when she was alive. The people who lived back then would be surprised to see how much people in the modern day revere her. Perhaps in 80 years, people will talk about how Kim Kardashian was blamed for the release of her sex tape against her will and made the best of the situation, that she became a successful businesswoman and used the industry's sexism against itself, and about the many causes that she donated to.
Personally, I don't buy all of that because her family was already wealthy and somewhat famous before the sex tape incident, and she has donated only the tiniest fraction of her wealth and seems to care about wealth and fame over people. But I do think it's unfair when people blame her for the sex tape when she didn't even authorize its release - it was released by an ex or something to shame her. So who knows how history will treat her?
This dress was so iconic and Ripley's Believe It Or Not knew that! They deserved to have the damaged dress now because they lent it to a narcissistic and spoiled person. She should've never been allowed to wear it but unfortunately money talks.
I'm appalled at the extent to which she couldn't fit into the dress. The staff trying to stuff Kim in, pulling and rubbing and tugging, then the extra pins to hold the top bit together. Clearly the dress was already damaged at that point and she still had a night to go moving about in it. It's literally bursting at the seams...
*it literally isn't fair that Kim got to wear the dress. Marilyn is dead and can't even speak for herself. she should be the last person to wear the dress. it's such a historical artifact. Yes! Not only did Marilyn say that but the artist said that he made only for it to be worn by her too
And the funny thing is that, Kim thinks that by losing 16 pounds, she’ll fit into this dress. NOT! look at that fake A$$ she got back there. Marylyn is all natural and this dress was made specifically for Marylyn.

The first I saw KK trying to squeeze that ridiculous figure of hers into Marilyn's iconic one of a kind dress I could almost hear the fabric tearing. It didn't matter that she lost 16 pounds before the gala. You can't lose weight when you're stuffed with fillers and botox and wherever they get that stuffing from. Every sister and momager need to learn an important lesson from this.
And, just a thought here. With all of the money they all have why didn't KK have the dress copied? And why didn't Ripley's refuse to let her wear the dress in the first place? Now that it's damaged and unrepairable it's not worth a damn! Just a rag.

Kim damages brain cells every time we talk about her🤯
Kardashian narcissism and giant artificial butt ruined a piece of history and pop culture. I see a very powerful message here. Good job Hollywood.
yes she did. she ruined something that is part of history, that dress was SPECIFICALLY made for Marilyn Monroe and Marilyn Monroe ONLY
That dress was SPECIFICALLY made for Marilyn Monroe; no one else should be wearing that, ESPECIALLY considering its historical significance. That’s what it means to have something custom-made y’all, means it’s not meant for others to wear, everybody should know that…
These women have two completely different body types…there’s no way on earth Kardashian wore that dress without some kind of damage or alteration.
I’m not one of those hardcore fans, but I was deeply disturbed, and disgusted when I heard the news about the irreversible damage done to the iconic gown, I damn near wanted to cry! I fault Ripley’s for the incident. That piece should’ve NEVER left the museum!
It's called RIPleys too
It was a dress tailored and made for the beauty that is Marilyn Monroe and only her, it should have been in a museum it hurts my heart to see how Kim wrecked it😭
Shame on Kim and he narcissism. She could have just worn a replica. I’m always sticking up for her when ppl talk about her but this made me realize why.
What a surprise. As if anyone didn't see this coming, SMH. This didn't add to the provenance it merely diminished its value. Good job Ripley's.
You think they'd believe it or not?
You could clearly see staff forcing the dress on her, damaging the crystals. The hem was catching on her heel. Crystals were falling off on the red carpet. The wrong gloves were used to handle it. Of course it's been ruined. It was made for one body, and one body only, and that wasn't the selfish, spoiled Kim Kartrashian
And she stumbled! Not once about 3 times too!
A person with a humbled ego would’ve declined to ever wear this piece of history and just opted to a great replica.
Have not and will continue to not ever support a person who feels so entitled. Shame on you Kim.
See we all knew this would happen and shame on Kim and Ripley for not honoring her wishes, for those who don't know Marilyn wanted to be the only one who wore her dress, even after death...
Now ima cry 4 reals. Marilyn was a wonderful woman who suffered too mich in life and in death she wasnt even taken seriously enough to respect her wish
She never mentioned that. Yall hear everything and go one with it
@@Pesteachurro that’s exactly what she said the dress was sown onto her so this dress could fit her and only her Kim ruined her dress!
@@yelqdeda9649 show receipt where she specifically said any of that
@@yelqdeda9649 where ? Where and when did she say that?
Kim devalued the dress. Marilyn Monroe was a true ICON. Not a reality personality famous for her tape and materialistic and Self absorb brand.
Its like Cinderella's step sisters squeezing in Cinderella's shoes.
Even if, in a 1/100000 chance she didn’t damage it, she still wore Marilyn’s important dress
Even she stated that she didn’t want anyone to wear her dresses after she died
Kim never knows her place. That's her problem. They don't make that kind of fabric and it's not replaceable anymore. Kim chooses to ignore it and doesn't care. I feel so bad for marilyn
And the sad part is, It didn't even looked good on her. She could've had any dress or made a new dress for her, instead ruined a perfectly preserved historical item. And for what? How much more publicity does she want?
This should NEVER have been allowed.
Everyone taking about her ruining the dress.
Me just listeningto him say:
"Over her dairy air"
Lmao that had me dying.
She should have NEVER been allowed to wear it in the first place.
