Someone tried once to play this with a regular DDR pad.
He reached the center of the earth.
I spit all over my computer screen thanks to you
Lol!
bad
To be fair, many of the top itg players can actually play at the speeds of some of the slower songs (although with very different charting styles, generally avoiding jumps, crossovers and other tech patterns)
To be fair , this is not that hard if you slow it down to about c650/700
Today I learned etienne was commentating this showcase
Same LMAO
I've met so many people playing this kind of genre, and they HATE to be bothered with a single talk while playing. But that guy talks to the back couch AND plays the game at the same time! This is incredible.
Personally is not that i can't but what the hell man let me enjoy the music
Understandable cause it's a rhythm game you need to focus and feel the rhythm
I now understand why this came up as a recommended video after watching the TASbot content.
Eternalwarpuppy he’s the new model of TAS Bot. They call him “the skin job”
Ayyy.
+EtienneSM I love how you had to remove your banner.
It's because the St. Scarhand banner is not safe for Twitch.
@@AndrewBlechinger boobs
this video among others inspired me to take this game seriously lol
pegasus yes
How fast can you type?
Yes.
maybe?
hm?
.
I've played Stepmania for at least 7 years and I'm no where as good as Staiain. Props to him, very nice and fun to watch
Biosystem Studios lmao you suck then
@@velocics8979 lol yeah
when the essay is due tomorrow
Just have to say, this comment is gold
Yes I do realize this comment is 3yo
Noodle Blocc thank you. Forgot I made it tbh so thanks for reminding me
Overatted comment but gold
if you respond to me four years after you commented this you a legend
@@spookplays7506 sounds good
Even the camera was stressing out about this.
I'm impressed at the fact that Stai is playing with such ferocity that the camera shakes.
I wonder how many keyboards this guy has killed.
I guess about 20+
OneTrueBelmont More less or about the same as Zarky (he does minecraft UHC and rages a lot)?
OneTrueBelmont only one : a corsair kb
Cubensis
I'm amazed it's just one.
OneTrueBelmont he thrown it on stream because it's garbage
He should be working at Razer for quality testing on their Keyboards.
@@incongruous4 maybe he should work for cherry?
Razer is trash XD
@@kirqzc razer was trash. they have gotten much better with the viper and huntsmen TE
I still wouldn't recommend Razer keyboards if you're going into rhythm games, they're pretty decent but you probably won't see the best use for them
@@defaultusername4203 agreed
DDR is my favorite arcade game of all time. Started playing way back in 2001 and still get on the pads when I come across them even though I'm 32.
that's not... that's not how humans are supposed to work
Incendere he isn't a human,
*H E I S A G O D*
Stepmania, osu, and guitar hero players “so yeah we are aliens”
Takasu Ryuuji its overrated and actually easy because you only just mash vibro patterns
Takasu Ryuuji i know i mean people that can vibro can do it hard or easy
Takasu Ryuuji i can do it next years or centuries and also sorry for triggering you i didnt mean to
I'd like to think I can manage some fast inputs every now and again, under some intense situations at least, but I can barely parse what arrows are coming down the screen at all. and 41:12 just gets absurd. Seriously, this is insane!
26:23 Someone highlight this!
I will try one year later!
Pat Da boio try it now
I haven't watched all speedruns during AGDQ obviously, but I consider this to be the most impressive one.
This video needs the chat

talk about carpal tunnel
*Car pool tunnel
It's like someone is running a knife though your wrist violently
And osu mania is like bea
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a disorder of the nerves where the outlet in the center underside of the wrist where the hand nerves run through (the carpal tunnel) is rubbing against said nerves and causing nerve damage, often resulting in sporadic tingling, burning, and/or numbness in the thumb, index, and middle fingers.
What? You said to talk about carpal tunnel.
@@merpmerp Vibro caused me RSI
Wow! He could probably also write essays for hours without getting cramps.
I can write essays for hours long without cramps but I can't do this
I guess you can say that having the ability to play StepMania at this level may also translate to a long essay writing ability, but a long essay writing ability does not translate into StepMania God level :)
he couldnt
to say i am speechless is an understatement.
For a while I've been playing Stepmania with a GH controller and I can play pretty quick. Never gonna get this good with one hand but hell if I care - I couldn't ever be this good anyway. Really nice work!
There was a period where people tried to port GH charts directly into SM. They're really old, but they should still be floating around.
I wasn't aware that IBM's Wattson had gained full sentience yet, nor that it played StepMania
That insane run with Split+Dizzy+Dark really makes me want to know if he can pass Dash Hopes 3.
Meanwhile I'm sitting here just trying to follow the notes like "Staiain stop. Let me read"
I love the rush of BMS songs at the end. Yessss
My mouth just opened slowy while watching this video.
Good lord, this is INSANE...
I still come back every now and then to see this guy amazing skill @ 40:00
You should check out his youtube channel. He is still playing today and also makes a ton of high quality documentaries about rhythm games. His name is Etienne
@@taggerung_ His name is Etienne ? how should I find him.
@@armbsecure just search on youtube. He also regularly streams on twitch.
@@taggerung_ I found him thanks dude ;)
Years later after seeing this I started playing osu mania and loved it been playing for around 2 years now thanks for introducing me to this
it's so weird watching this again after like 5 years now knowing what is actually happening lmao
i didn't get to watch this live & forgot about it until now, holy shit
Lol good stuff staiain, as always. Nice to see you hitting ADGQ.
my monitor literally can't refresh fast enough to display some of these notes, this is insane
When you just look at the right side of the scenery, you can see a man randomly smashing buttons while once in a while he gets cheered on.
This reminds me of watching black midi songs
I can't wait to get good at this
does anyone know where i can find the song pack they used?
beatmania IIDX needs to be showcased in AGDQ/SGDQ
"hey guys dj darqs here at agdq"
Get SDVX on board
@@incongruous4 prolly not cuz license, maybe kshootmania would be able to be played
And here we are in 2020, getting a Clone Hero demo!

watched this video many times and just now noticed that etienne was on the couch
Shortly following AGDQ 2016, Staiain left the Stepmainia community to pursue a career in piano playing. He quit after a few days saying the pieces were "too slow and boring", on in the case of Moonlight Sonata, "just wasn't hard enough".
George Schalasky you said this teice
This is just fucking insane. even with muscle memory this is fucking insane. Mad props.
I love how the camera was shaking with intensity
Funny enough, this game is based on an earlier simulator called Dance With Intensity.
my god, the intensity and speed of his presses began shaking the keyboard cam
the shaking of hte camera makes it even more intense
I've always thought high level play in rhythm games is kind of similar to speedrunning. There are different metrics, but it all comes down to the quest for perfection.
Did he get a comfortable spot for his hand? Did he get a new monitor?
Maybe. His other monitor is in heaven. Hes using the keypad instead of the as kl
Shaky handcam is shaky
Don't you feel the very intensity of the run?!
THERES A SOAP IN MY EYES
MOM
BRING ME MOAR OF THESE DELICIOUS FPS
Can we just realized how much the camera was shaking during the final song?
When your reflex, speed and accuracy are level 100
im in awe
My hands hurt just watching this.
So intense that the desk cam or whatever they had just kept shaking.
Anybody got a link to the song pack and theme that was played?
It's the black MIDI version of gaming
Watch osu! mania
started watching. found impresive downloaded. tried. came back at 41:20. huge resect
You must've broken your fingers or keyboard
The camera shaking is hilarious. Intense
Never thought a human could go this fast
keyboard intensifies ಠ_ಠ
has anyone done an endurance run of 21 min long inna goda daveda by iron butterfly?
I need the songs that he plays here.. .all of them... and I mean ALL OF THEM
Carpal tunnel, the game.
I wonder jow much this is reactions, and how much it's memory. Anyways, It's mighty impressive!
There is nothing memory ^^.
Huge parts of this is definitely muscle memory, anyone that has ever played rhythm games at higher levels can confirm you this
sebastian Westerlund its muscle memory. If you play a song enough. You can remember it. Thats how it works for me.
It is reaction based, but relies on muscle memory to pull it off. You read the notes and relies on your hands knowing what to do. It is like writing, you don't think too deeply about how to move the pen to produce the letters. And if you try to use your non-dominant hand, you can still write, just not as fast and pretty.
Nobody memorizes song charts. You might remember the outline, rhythm, and quirks of a chart, but the actual notes just aren't that important. It is all about patterns, and you apply those patterns to other charts if you learn a new one.
At these speeds you can't think about each note, but you still make high-level decisions on how to handle a group of notes. For example you constantly adjust your timing to avoid getting out of sync, you might decide on starting on a pattern a little early to counter not being fast enough, or take it easy on one part to make sure you have enough stamina to handle the upcoming crazy part, etc.
Some parts you just have to remember by rote because they're just that stupid or they're giving you that much trouble, but such conscious effort only happens during the part when you're getting good. I have full comboed the file at the end on normal speed, and that stupid part with the purple notes I just hit on instinct.

wow. that's amazing
18:50 I was actually half-watching but Helblinde got my undivided attention
why are they timing a rhythm based game?

That Brain Power song used here is 100% ripped from a play of it on SDVX, judging by the extra sound effects.
through the fire and flames 2.5x speed???
You must sleep either fantastic or awfully after playing this game
this guy could be a pro invoker, literally!
e
Where can I download this exact pack?
How many time outs were there in the twitch chat during Brain Power??
That one probably into the hundreds
BEST part was the HE-MAN HEYYAYAYA sing along!
To play this you need like 200 frames per second or else everything is a blur.
60 is enough as long as it's consistent, but higher doesn't hurt.
what is this version i want it so bad
He is a machine
So how fast can they type - like in words per minute?
I love how it's just like Osu!
I mean it is called osu!*mania* for a reason
game - 12:35
run - 14:04
Whats the Keyboards Name??
This guy must have the sharingan to get all those notes correctly
should've played blastix riotz (osumania convert tho, didn't know if it was out back then)
...that was actually pretty good...
can someone explain to me the rules of a ddr speedrun???

I wish I had my damn computer shit I miss ffr so much 🤧
Wow... Just wow...
He says it's all based around reflex so.. does that mean if you tried to hit him with a baseball at full speed he would just catch it?
Anime is real.
the keyboardcam is going mental
i wouldn't even be able to do the part at 42:37
