  • As former Post Office boss Paula Vennells was questioned for a second day at the UK inquiry, members of the audience groaned in frustration as she failed to recall some key details.
ITV News Reporter Ellie Pitt spoke to one former sub-postmaster who was imprisoned while pregnant, who heard how the Post Office advised that including her in a case review "would be a rag to a bull".

The charges will probably include: misleading parliament, perverting the course of justice, and corporate manslaughter. She also risks artificially inflating the share price of a company with a view to a sale by hiding the issues from a potential buyer.

Incompetent, devious and dishonest. How do such people get into such top positions? Bonuses for the bosses, and no attention to the unexplained rise in crime by loyal staff. She's just sitting it out to get back to her massive pension and bonuses.
Even after injustice became apparent the bosses fought against payment. Probably because it would affect their bonuses and share options. These disgusting dregs of society should not be walking free, much less enjoying lives of luxury.
If criminal charges don't stick I hope they have ruinous class actions against them so they live in the poverty they inflicted.

She carefully threads the needle, as Mr. Beer pointed out yesterday, remembering what helps her to establish nothing's her fault, but can't recall anything that would tend to incriminate her. She was clearly carefully coached by a no doubt expensive lawyer. I keep thinking of those poor victims, the investigators couldn't find the supposed stolen money, the accused had to sell their homes to "pay back" $ they never stole. And meanwhile, Paula V is sitting in her 2 million pound home, happy as could be. I believe her as far as I can throw her. The only person this woman feels sorry for is herself. That's who she was crying for.

Next that police entourage will be escorting her to prison after evicting her from her home to pay for damage done to peoples lives costing £1 billion pounds to the taxpayer.
Her and others management causing huge loss of value of the POL business.
Unecessary closure of the victims Post Office sub branches losing more money for the Post Office Limited.
That's not including Thousands more identified now its out what they were up to.
Vennells would be better just coming clean pleading guilty and throwing herself to the mercy of the court.
The longer the management hold onto the obsfuscating blameshifting the worse it will be when the judges hand down sentences.
When the police investigate people will spill the beans to avoid a jail sentence.
Henderson from Second sight has been one of the very few telling the Truth.
    Who cancelled their investigation ?
That would have had to be no one other than Vennells.
    That question must be asked.

@@dirtydawg448 I can think of four laws just sat here:
Manslaughter by gross negligence in relation to the SPMs who sadly took their own lives after the PO refused to investigate reports the system was faulty
Misconduct whilst in public office relating to her obvious disregard to reports the Horizon system was malfunctioning or being manipulated and SPMs were being falsely accused and in some cases imprisoned and attempting to cover the brand rather than investigate potential miscarriages of justice
Perverting the course of Justice based on the fabricated evidence passed to the CPS on the infallibility of Horizon during the trials of sub-postmasters and the cover up of the flaws in the system which saw people falsely jailed (possibly also perjury depending on whether any of her "I Didn't know" statements can be contradicted with evidence she did in fact know)
false statements by company directors (Section 19, Theft Act 1968) relating to the reclaimed money being regarded as "profit" which in itself raises questions about whether these prosecutions were intentional in order to recover monies from SPMs by Fraud at a time the post office was in financial difficulty (however that would be hard to prove in court)
if I were the CPS I'd be trying to get her charged on the first two because they carry life sentences at the maximum, given the severity of the case, the amount of people who took their own lives or had the lives and reputations irreparably damaged I'd expect a life term with a minimum term of 20 years before eligibility for parole, if the other charges can be proven I'd expect that to rise to 30 years before consideration for parole,

Allow me to help write the first paragraph of the findings:
"The Inquiry at Post Office Limited is not an account of bad people. Nor is it an account of people who did not care, nor of people who wilfully made poor technical or strategic decisions. It is an account of people who cared greatly about the future of Post Office Limited and were dedicated and well-motivated. Sadly, some lacked insight, and their resulting decisions and behaviour was flawed. "
This is essentially the way all of these government inquiries end up.

A young lady was looking forward to her marriage in a few days. Instead she was arrested by two burly police officers and jailed with a female murder there is also further terrible things that happened. An innocent person one of hundreds falsely accused and those at the GPO knew exactly what was happening. But dont worry they all have good jobs, plenty of money and comfortable homes like Paula Reynolds who works for the NHS

Friends with the Archbishop of Canterbury. Almost appointed as Bishop of London. Most holy Ms Vennells. Sadly you may not get to meet your god. There is a better place for you and your kind.

This evil woman stood back and allowed these workers to be prosecuted and jailed. Some commiting suicide others losing their homes, and tarring their reputation for years. All to further her reputation and career. She needs to be sent to jail for a very very long time, but lam afraid as usual she will probably walk away with a very lenient sentence by our courts.
