when I accompanied my daughter there was just one dress I wanted to see her in. I had seen it in a bridal magazine.
At the third store we went to, I repeated my request for that dress. I told the sales associate "I just want to see her in it, then I'll shut up."
I know I was being bossy, but I was paying for it.
The big surprise to the sales associate and me, was when my daughter agreed with me, it was THE DRESS, after all.
Apparently brides "never" buy the dress they picked out in a magazine, and "NEVER EVER" buy the dress their mothers picked out.

Fathers used to carry the burden of paying for a wedding's cost, and the groom's family paid for very little. Etiquette books of mid-20th century insisted linens be white and monogrammed. One even stated that the bridal linens had only the bride's monogram. Look them up. You'll be amazed at how many there are.

Let the bride get what she wants and quit forcing her to try other things. Why try everyone else's picks 1st and not anything that was what the bride said? Love her pick.
