Retrontario’s primary mission is the preservation, research and exhibition of rare videotape recordings (1970s to 1990s) recorded off of any and all Ontario (and surrounding area) TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. We also hope to create an ongoing oral history of this content through comments left below the videos. Please add to this evolving history, if you know more information pertaining to the clips, fondly remember them or have a modern thought all comments are welcome! Get me out of 2024 and to 1985 please 🙏
I'd rather have these commercials interrupt my youtube viewing than the current ads📺👍
I used to deliver Toronto Star newspapers in the mid 1980s on Glenholme Avenue. At 43:18, the black kid was on my paper route - while collecting and recognizing him from the commercial, I asked if he was in the Kodak commercial and he confirmed it. I’m not sure how I remembered this, considering it’s been almost 40 years. Thanks for posting!😊
Just an aside, around 1982 same street - my neighbour rented apartments in his house. I used to see a blind man living with his stressed/protective mom. On occasion he would come out with his guitar and a cab would pick him up. They only stayed there briefly…. It was until 1990s onward, I realized it was a young Jeff Healey.
I’m just here for Sherry Miller, and my 40 year crush on her. Lovely lady.
Still such a crush on Sherry Miller. An elegant woman.
I need a Time Machine ASAP. TAKE ME BACK
Id really like you do on how you have this much content. The amount of stuff you've digitized over the years is absolutely nuts. You've been doing this for years with no ending, Thanks again for all you do
i'd go back to 1985, if somehow the internet and PCs also existed like today
that'd be incredible 😀
Then it just wouldn't be the 1980s. None of that existed and it was great
@@naynay9652 pc are very popular in industries since late 70s
We got a number of these Green Giant commercials in Britain.
I always think of Michael Jackson having a statue of said Giant in his house as shown in Bashir's documentary😂
Darth Vader must've been hard up for cash in the 80s, I heard him in there narrating a Goodyear tire commercial..
Janet-Laine Green in that Commerce Bank ad?
Three things I notice when watching these commercials….one, which I really miss, is how grounded they were in the real world, with images, plot lines, people that were part of our real world, not a computer-generated world as many commercials are now. Second, which I also miss, is that they don’t FLASH at you, without a barrage of images trying to get your attention in just a few seconds, third, which I am glad we have made progress with on tv, is that just white people are represented….
