I was 9 years old living in Bensonhurst Brooklyn at the time
WPIX in the 80s/90s has a special place in my heart. I like the ‘86 bumper better though purple skyline).
Born and raised in midwood brooklyn and wpix channel 11 was part of my childhood. After school cartoons.
I miss this stuff todays don't have awesome stuff like we had in the 80s
My birthday!😱
I remember the selective service ad and how freaking terrified I was that someone would declare war the moment I registered. TBH, I remember every single ad spot.
Thanks for all you share. Happy New Year.
21:28 The Sprint kid is Joey Lawrence.
Cool!
Cool as a mule!
"Cringy" doesn't even begin to describe that Selective Service commercial. Yikes. 😬
In the mid 1980s, Ronald Reagan was president and the Cold War heated up again. The draft ended in 1973 and the military became an all volunteer force. There was trouble in Nicaragua, the Middle East and the Russian bear was on the prowl . The Selective Service was a mandatory law in which people had to register for the draft. If you were graduating from high-school or in college you had to register or risk jail time or a fine. What those guys are wearing are jackets that were made popular by the late pop star Micheal Jackson and they are" breakdancing " in this video. It was quite the rage at the time. Now these guys in my generation are the politicians and senior military officers running our country.
@@shawnmalone9711 Do you remember The Ruff and Reddy Show?
