    Awesome build! Loving every episode! Anybody who wins this bike will and should be proud!
    Fuel level is something truly old school. I had a Bultaco waaaaay back in the day that had one of these. Just make sure the tube is good quality and fuel resistant. Over time they go a bit yellow but if they are bad they will go white like in about 1 week. I understand that even further back in the day they were made out of glass!!! Figure that on out!

    6:03 *Still* having issues with the new welding gloves ;) Really enjoyed the Fatboy bobber build, and while I have a hard time recalibrating to the sound of a four cylinder bobber, your production quality is now really solid. This is the kind of material I gave up regular cable for. Keep up the great work!
    Oh, and.... 9:16... masking tape on sheet metal helps to stop the drill bit skating when starting a hole

    I really enjoy your videos. My first bike was a 75 kz400. I picked it up for 300. It had a bad cylinder, so I picked up a 76 440 engine and had the heads bored over 30 with custom ground pounder style pipes. Dropped the rear by 2. 16" drag bars put a bigger tank on it and a custom stitched seat. I really miss that bike

    Dude it is great to watch someone with good basic fabrication skills. It makes me want to go out to the garage and work on something. Everything looked great except the tail light I would have make the plate bracket with the tail light bracket integrated into the bottom of the plate mount. The site glass looked awesome!!

    Lol as soon as I saw you drilling holes in the side of the tank I thought, fuel level sight tube. I always thought those were bad ass! I think the level you have it is perfect. When it gets to the bottom you know you still have enough to get you to a gas station, provided you aren't in the middle of a desert

    I was wondering wth was that tube you drilled in the tank. That sight gauge is cool AF. I’m restoring my 1983 Kawasaki Kz750 H4 LTD and the Paint is pretty nice. I hope to polish it out. I think it will. But if I have to go so far to repaint it, I might just install that gauge.

    Not a fan of the sissy bars , but to each their own . I'm currently building a similar bike , 79 Suzuki GS750 rat rod bobber . For the fuel level I'm modifying a snowmobile gauge cap to fit in the one side of the stock tank .

    • @mattschultz6356
      @mattschultz6356 Před 3 lety +2

      Just going off the whip it looks like some Millermatic. Looks like a Bernard whip on it. Are you running flux core? MIG welding is pretty easy, his welding there isn't crazy impressive so unless you're using a scrap yard find or something you should be able to tack weld like that

    • @peytonsmith1359
      @peytonsmith1359 Před 3 lety

      @@mattschultz6356 My friend passed on his Forney Easy Weld 29901. I got flux core wire from Home Depot. Worked better than what came with it. It certainly works but sometimes penetration is lacking and I get tons of spatter and it can have an inconsistent spark

    • @mattschultz6356
      @mattschultz6356 Před 3 lety +1

      @@peytonsmith1359 Yeah if youre not doing heavy stuff that needs the penetration of flux core Id definitely recommend getting some ER70S6 wire and some 75/25 gas and run it as a straight MIG welder. Far less spatter, don't have to chip away slag, can do much thinner parts... Plus id recommend looking into some CZcams videos on Mig welding basics so you can tell what you have to adjust when you're looking at your welds. Mig welding is gonna be the easiest type of welding you'll do and the fastest one to learn.
