- the amazing evocative theme to the long running award winning news programme from Granada TV in Manchester, the theme was created by the ultra talented Shawn Phillips and the haunting hammond organ playing was from our very own Bolton Musical Giant Mick Weaver AKA Wynder K Frog
Shawn Phillips wrote it on the spot, for John Shepphard, one of the producers for "World In Action", at the time.
Top flight musical composition, perfectly matched to cutting edge investigative news reporting 'World in Action' I hear this and its 1972 all over again. The nation tuned into this knowing they were being served something of value. Even as a kid I knew World in Action was serious and valuable, miss it at your peril. Thatcher I read had World in Action AXED as it was too critical of her autocratic authoritarian regime. Wow what an outlet and training ground for serious journalistic talent! RIP...
Per another post, Mick Weaver ended up seriously fckd over re credit/ copyright. Such an injustice, as most would agree it was MW's creativity and improv on that scary-yet-exciting-sounding Hammond B3 that made this piece of music the legend it is. Scared the shit out of me when I first watched World In Action as a schoolboy, but soon grew to love it. The programmes themselves were cutting-edge journalism. Happy days.
Reminds me of being a child and when this music came on I instantly thought that it would be something bad. But what a piece of music; fantastic.

Don't know if your still on CZcams but let did what where asking ,let downloaded the song of YT and put it through some audio software to trim it down in size and l have it as a ringtone for one of my friends get in touch l'll send it on to you 36 sec clip.
