    I think the point Aamir Khan makes about Slumdog Millionaire makes a lot of sense. Speaking English (and doing so well, especially in a foreign accent) is a mark of social status. It indicates that you are "well-off" which defeats the purpose of the film :')

    • @Vor567tez
      @Vor567tez Před 2 lety +30

      Lot of people mistake Slumdog Millionaire as bollywood or Indian movie but it is actually British Drama movie. The director was Britisher hence the language was English.
      Just because it's based in India and have Indian actor doesn't make it Indian movie otherwise Shang Chi and the legend of ten rings and Black Panther wouldn't be called Hollywood movie.
      Also the movie won because of white director. Maybe people of India don't know this but Oscar's have been well known for their racism. If it wasn't for a white director AR Rahman wouldn't hv been noted.
      Indian's need to get over with SM and Oscar obsession.

    Also, while all you go crazy in theaters for movies like Bharat and Zero, you all miss out on pure gems like John's Romeo Akbar Walter, Parmanu, Force 2, Batla House, Satyameva Jayate, Madras Cafe and Rocky Handsome just to name a few. Even this year the committee did not select films like , " ghore ko jalebi khilane le ja raha hu." Or " nagar kirtan" . Oh yes! I definitely agree it is absolutely weird to watch, for example, Delhi Crime - the Netflix series with English dubbing. Parasite was beautiful in their local language and I was happy to follow the subtitles even on a cinema screen.
