Figuring out how many Drones you can get away with is extremely important. If you're trying to improve with Zerg, it is arguably speaking the most important aspect in the game. In this tutorial I explain the thought process of making Drones before making any army units. The reason is simple, if you have more workers you have more income and therefore you will be able to make a bigger army eventually.

I have been watching these zerg builds you do and they've really helped. I think my biggest issue is I'm not yet focused enough to efficiently spend. So i find that I am able to build anything I want by the end of the game, but I spent so much time initially building naturals that I haven't harassed enough and end up getting destroyed. Keep up the good work!

I may be coming to it pretty late, but I think this is one of the most important videos to watch for improving.
Adjusting your mindset from “I’m going into this game trying to win” to “I’m going into this game trying to learn, and to practice one specific thing and it’s okay if I lose as long as I practice what I set out to practice” is a pretty damn important specification.

you can make drones constantly, just put overlords and some zerglings around his base to know when he's gonna push out. And then make army quickly, to do this you need to inject constantly, so that you have enough larva.

i just tried the strat this morning and damn it worked so fucking well against a terran player, he had a shit ton more combat units than i had but still he couldn't do any push !

This kind of content is exactly what ive been looking for. would you be able to make some videos on specific terran/protoss builds (double drop or double gateway/adept pressure for example)and when you want to make safety units vs when to drone. i feel a small library of these would be infinitely useful to the community.

I feel the best thing to do is doing a fake out on a drop, since they can’t view how many or what kind of units you have in a medivac. So you use an empty medicac or two to get their attention and draw then out a direction. Once you draw their army or a good portion of it one direction, then you go in with your actual medivacs. From there you drop window mines at their bases to make the opponent worry/pull back again. From there once your opponent is back you should be able to send another wave their way…personally I’m a fan of fliers. Bring your fliers in and then go to town to do a squeeze on then between air and ground.
This all sounds much easier than it is, but I’ve had matches go exactly like that because there are people that won’t notice the widow mine drop (to keep their attention on those instead of full focus on battle…so mistakes made). Doing this will take out their mineral line and means of replenishing units. And then in the meantime you can keep on queuing up your units to meet up at the battle point. I would say siege tanks, marauders, and ravens/banshees (kind of well rounded-ish)
I learnt so much from you that I switched from playing toss to zerg and since I used to main toss I tend to beat them alot since I know timings and what pissed them off

Place a few lings outside the base of your opponent so that you can see when they are moving out with an army, normally you can build an army that can counter your opponents by the time that they reach you allowing you to keep droning unitil they move out with an army
Lowko you should mention, that you have to scout the protoss' 3rd base. If they dont have it by 5 mins you HAVE to make army, because they are going for a 2 base all in (or they are in silver league or below^^).

So basically only make army if I am preparing to attack, or defend an attack, but not until max saturation? (assuming I do make my safety roaches before max saturation)
Lowko, is it necessary to use a Drone/Probe to scout and lose the miningtime, or is it enough to use the first army units to scout to know what your opponent want to go for? I use normaly my first berserker (Old Starcraft) for scouting.

Lowko! you should make a video on when certain units/buildings would usually be made. For example, drops will be around 4:30 like you said If I remember correctly... or protoss make 4 gateways around the 5:30 min mark(guessing because I don't know) or Terran makes this unit/building around a certain time stuff like that so you want to send a scout to check at the exact time. I always feel that everyime I scout its either to late or too early.
Lol, to be exact, Building timings for each race is prob the most simplest way to put it.
this is whx you have to scout constantly! first scout when your ovi reaches enemy base, 2nd around 0400-0430 (i think? hh i just do it by 'feel' xD) and then every now and then ;)
in korea they get speed upgrade for the ovis to scout without having to sacrifice them ;)
+Neil Thomsen building timings depends on the build and thats a huge fkin topic.. thats hard to cover, but you can scout 4mins into the game thats a pretty safe guesstimate for scouting all races against all races as far i know ^^

The tavern brawl is super wacky this week
It's hard to know, and scouting is a weak point for me, but I'm assuming its key. I get rushed or cheesed all the time and its the nature of the game. key things I watch out for early on is if they go early double gas, or fast expand or wall off or are building higher tec structures then I get some good clues.
I can't get past Training 3 as Zerg. I've tried about 7 times, Help!

The strat I use is called “Chipper” my friend is Terran and I’m Zerg. They make a normal army and I just get 35-40 banelings and just start bombing the attacks and bases and just making them too weak to fight my friend’s airial strike

The reason they have a troop limit is if they deleted it I would do it just like cut scenes and make like 10,00 zerglings and 250 ultralisks

I am trying to follow this and be very greedy with drone production. But, watching replays verus Protoss, I just watch them chrono boost out probes faster than I can spawn drones even when I am not building an army. And, then they send in a handful of adepts, and it's game over.
I feel like I am missing either some secret here or some cosmic joke at my expense. But, when I am doing injects and spewing out drones and still falling behind on worker count AND have no army... it is disheartening.
Id love to see another ZvZ tutorial
what would you have done if the prothoss was really greedy aswell when you didn't have a groundforce ?
If you see that the toss player is greedy you punish :) just make some lings and rally them to the 3rd or 4th and destroy it/get a cancel on it :)

Is that really a 1v1 map?
I look at starcraft as a RTS and wonder how people can play this? I mean it literally looks like spam, without actual base building. Obviously I don't understand it because I don't play it so could someone explain to me why I should play starcraft in the first place?
Good example of a low level game. Most games like this where I mirror your efforts I am defending pretty micro intense harassment from the Protoss before a serious 2 base all in or late game wipeout.

Space drops you to random places/bases/where you army is fightning or buildings under attack.
yeah i know that but lowko doesnt switch randomly around he switches precisely to the bases to time the injects. I do that by having every queen on a different hotkey but he has all of them on the same so i wanna know how i can switch through every single one
he is using location hotkeys (F1-Fx)
He explained it in an old video, there is a key that allows to cycle though your hatcheries, backspace if I remember well (haven't played a lot for the past few weeks)

my biggest problem with zerg is, at the end of the game i always have like 6-7k min and 0 gas, no matter how the game goes, lose or win

I started playing starcraft way overdoing workers lol. I consistently get destroyed 5 minutes into the game or sooner when i go to competitive because they clean up all 3 bases with low level units
You should get army to defend. The third base is only when you make economic damage to your opponent.
Your answer seems incorrect as Lowko places his thrid base at 00:58 into the game
The important thing is to scout the enemy! I can't stress this enough; it's what informs you about whether or not you need to build Army units and which ones. Drone, drone, drone, while scouting = economic advantage + knowing what you need to build to counter enemy comp.
I think Lowko could have emphasized the importance of scouting more, especially when you are heavily drowning; but otherwise, great video and I love his content. Very informative!
he didn't cover the "scouting" topic on purpose, new players can't focus on map awarness, macroand micro at the same time, that would just disturb enough to not learn any aspect of the game. the right way(in his opinion) is to just start improving your macro plays like a bot, you will obvisouly start loosing 90% of your games against agressive players and instinctively start to feel the need of scouting, more than that, you will have enough automations which free your brain to think about other aspects than droning. sry for my bad english tho

Lol, 8:58 where did you see protoss army?) There are only few adepts, sentries and 1 phoenix vs swarm of hydras with some ravagers and zerglings standing right at his "home".

Guesstimate is common colloquial, right up there with voluntold.
The difference between an estimate and a guestimate is the expectation of accuracy. You estimate to get as close as possible to the right number. You guestimate when you need a number but don't have the slightest clue what the actual number is going to be.
In SC2, guesstimation slowly becomes estimation by playing a ton and learning from your mistakes, just like Lowko recommends.
