In Aliens: Dark Descent, command a squad of hardened Colonial Marines to stop a terrifying Xenomorph outbreak on Planet Lethe. Lead your soldiers in real-time combat against iconic Xenomorphs, rogue operatives from the insatiable Weyland-Yutani Corporation, and a host of horrifying creatures new to the Alien franchise.

Great game, today the devs released a massive patch that solves (hopefully) a lot of bugs, so that negative is out of the table (hopefully). Atmosphere is great, gameplay is really nice, XCOM features are there and smartly added. I hope for a lot of DLC-s with added campaign/mission content, cause game is quite short IMO.
Excellent game really enjoying it. Unfortunately us console pleebs still have yet to recieve a patch :( I hope we get DLC in the future.
Wouldn't say the game is great,
It still has balancing issues.
Also its campaign NG+ is dumb.
I progressed and grinded hard for my characters to not die and level up and get the gear, xeno samples and supplies etc. Bascially I had everything and alot of things. And the NG+ just takes it away from me.
I get nothing new for Ng+
I just get my time wasted.
Of having to do the dumb stuff all over again.
Not only that, seriously? Planet infestation level 5 and ALSO QUEEN XENO DNA SAMPLES!? late game near end game fucking DNA samples meant to reduce Planet Infestation is near end game -_- hey thanks game I'm already on a timelimit because THERES FUCKING NUKES COMING.
Game literally has limitations on the map.
You bascially only earn enough supplies and things from the map and areas you go to.
Cool game, never thought a top down game from this perspective could be so heart pounding and scary. The game uses its mechanics masterfully to create a very tense atmosphere. I felt so bad when I had to abandon two of my marines that got snatched because I was too afraid that I wouldnt make it out the building let alone be able to go after my kidnapped squad.
A lot of the tension comes from trying to avoid the wandering aliens. Not make too much noise and hope you can slip by. You get very little from engaging them (experience comes from completing objectives not kills). Every time you fight them it drains ammo, med kits, stresses out the marines even before they do any damage.
The longer the hive hunts you, the more aliens patrol, the bigger the horde and sometimes, something bigger comes to play.
So yeah, while you can brute force it on easy, on hard or impossible be quick, be quite and try to get out.
It's the difference between terror and tension, and this game does tension very well.
I don't understand why there is no option to hold fire 🤔
A survival mode would be nice, maybe some kind of multiplayer would be cool too.

This game on Nightmare has literally had me shitting myself in fear I play this shit metal gear style till I'm caught then I play the best "run like I left my oven on" impression then find a room and hide and perform the machine gun orchestra
I get scared playing the game
avoid contact, hide, "overwatch", know the map, plan ahead, run to rest spots and build your squad of veterans.
Also the ARC is your friend, by commanding it to spots near objectives.
You just need the safety sentry! Every marine need one for maximum morale boost!
I'd recommend this to all us XCom 1/2 veterans out there. They'd know how to handle this.
MANY similarities and inspiration from XCom, with the only real difference being it is more a squad "RTS" (slow down/pause elements) than a 4x turn based strategy.
Still has things like "overwatch", half/full cover, ambush, squad site, point based system etc.
Ughh still prefer Xcom and Alien Isolation to this... Little fun game. This is an indie game with aliens skin. Prettyyyyy lame. And btw I like more Phoenix Point than XCom
I'd take Xcom over this bad game.

Xcom fans can still have fun with other games inspired by while waiting for Xcom 3.
