George is definitely going to be missed but not forgotten. You could hear the kind heartedness in his voice. Need more people like that in the world.
I'm not going to , he's just a news reader ,which means ( government propagandst)
BBC bot.
And he knew all about the sordid boy raping so prevalent at the BBC. Good riddance.
A rare diamond at the BBC. He had charm, integrity, calm and all round a brilliant newsreader. My sympathy to his family....we have lost a star today. 😢😢😢😢
@@dddayesq5061 Doesn't it just. Just goes to show, in any institution there are users and abusers. I can understand why you don't watch the BBC, For all its faults, and there are many. There are some that have, and still have some, integrity and humanity
@@dddayesq5061George was a well rounded calm professional journalist and not one of those biased type we see this days
@@SuzanneO707 Integrity and humanity qualities sadly dying with Gross Bigotry, TalkHate TV, Fox News and Sky Australia.
@@yossarianreborn2904 Trickster? Nah, I think he was best of bunch. Sometimes, you have to be in it to win it. Or at least try.
He always seemed so genuine in his work and a kind face on the TV. RIP sir
He was a kind , modest man. He could have acted like a diva and he didn't.
always seemed so genuine when he was telling Lies . . . ..and was not even british . . . !!
George was a charismatic news reporter. He stood as something of an outlier in that regard. He will be sorely missed, but I have to salute him for fighting that cancer tor nearly 10 years!
Honestly, every time I watched him on the TV at the Six O Clock news, he was a truly awe-inspiring reporter and journalist. Its depressing that cancer took him.
It ravaged his body, but not his soul. Its very sad, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want anyone to be depressed. Rather, live your life the best way you can, and count your blessings.
another non-british man contributing to the downfall of our society . . . . . . !
May this kind-hearted man rest in peace!
As a Sri Lankan, I read about him in English class while I was doing my London O/Ls. He was very brave when he was reporting in Somalia during the war. He will be really missed. RIP George.
RIP George at least he is now at peace and not suffering. One of the best presenters.
George was such a naturally charismatic anchor. R.I.P.
I used to watch him when I was a kid, great presenter he was. Rest in peace
Yeah same here , he was the face of the rebranded ticking clock ⏰ BBC News and made BBC popular
I was so sad to learn of the death of George Alagiah. My dad had the privilege of meeting George at an event concerning Fairtade in. 2001. Mum took a photograph of Dad with George in the town centre. George Alagiah was a fantastic news presenter who knew how to present the news so well. George will be sorely missed.
Rip George Maxwell Alagiah, you will be missed
Its so sad, lets hope all the other BBC staff got their booosters....
Kindness shone through his eyes. Sad about this, and for his family.
Couldn’t agree more.
@@slartibartfast7921 You never know what life's going to throw at you. The man radiated positivity and kindness. I hope I would be as dignified and strong as him if I was ever in that situation.
Growing up he was always the face I associated with the BBC News. Beyond sad that he’s gone. A truly kind and compassionate man.
Lovely man, always seemed to be a gentle person,
George Alagiah was a superb journalist and newsreader. In addition, he had an extremely cultured and mellifluous voice; so his delivery was extremely pleasant. In fact, altogether, he was a very distinguished gentleman. That in itself is relatively rare these days. George Alagiah will be sorely missed by so many. R.I.P.
RIP George Alagiah!!!! BBC Legend!!!!!
In Tamil, his name means the most handsome. In life he was the most beautiful.bbc audience around the world and in particular south Asia will miss him dearly.my heart goes out to his colleagues and family.
Watched him when I was growing up and he's one of the inspirations that led to me going off to study journalism. Gone far too soon but a towering giant amongst newsmen.
Rest in peace George.
What a beautiful human. It’s sad to lose someone so special, too early. He touched very many lives, more than most of us will. My condolences to his family, and friends. Thank you for sharing this man so that he could show humanity to the world.
So very sad to hear this. Kindness, humility and competence simply radiated from him.
R.I.P George the BBC News at six will never be the same without you
What a wonderful tribute, indeed. And what a wonderful human. We need more like him.
Respected and loved man. How could anyone not love him. I have a signed book by him and am very proud to have it. His late dad and my late father were firm friends in Ghana. Very sad to loose him so young. Rest in peace giant good soul.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
As a Global Tamil, I am so proud to hear about kind hearted George Alagiah who is a Tamil. On the other hand I am deeply saddened to hear he is no more with us. May his soul rest in peace.
My son's best friend is from Sri Lanka! A beautiful soul, wise, kind hearted, talented and hard working young man in and out of uni... He counsels, uplifts and make him laugh Just like Mr Alagiah was! I can say without the shadow of a doubt that if I leave this earth, my child has the best brother from another mother any young man can find! Blessings Sri Lanka, no matter what you are going through! And thank you for all the fantastic men and women you send all over the earth! You are beautiful!
What an inspiring man he was. RIP
I had some fond memories of George presenting the Six O’clock News (Most of the time he wouldn’t present it alone) throughout my childhood and teenage years.
He fought his cancer diagnosis to the very end and he will not be forgotten.
R.I.P George.
I shall now toll the Bell ten times in Honour of George Alagiah.
You fought sooo hard and with such dignity George. A legend in every sense of the word. Rest well Sir. You will be sorely missed.
By far the best journalist the BBC ever employed! Engagingly calm manner, dignified, kind and always cheerful even when he was fighting his illness...so brave, courage in spadefuls, a great example of how everyone should live their lives...bless you George! We will miss you😢
Hard to imagine the BBC News without his voice
RIP George Alagiah
I am a freelance journalist and this man is the sort of newsman all reporters look up to
Always felt like I was getting a genuine story from this guy my whole childhood, what a legend, rest in peace ✌🏻
What a wonderful man! And what a huge loss to everyone.
My heartfelt condolences from Bangladesh. He was one of those genuinely professional, and hardworking journalists who contribute so much to the credibility and quality of the media outlet. Watched him so many times signing off after a report by calling out his name, and then saying BBC news, and the name of the place...He will be dearly missed. Wishing his family and close friends the courage to bear this loss. Rest in peace.
Ewwww bangladesh
A truly talented and inspiring man. The world loses a wonderfully empathetic journalist/reporter. The UK loses a brother. His family loses an anchor. He leaves us with a lavish legacy of kindness, humour, truth, and love. God Bless him and keep him. 🙏 What a super Gentleman we can remember and learn from in the years to come.
Truly heartbroken, though we all knew what he had been going through. Rest in power friend. He set a high bar, but that, we too must try to reach.
The world has lost a gentle, kind and selfless angel. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and loved ones at this difficult time. Fly high George, may u rest in eternal peace.
What a brave man George Alagiah really was. He was an inspiration to many up and down the UK and the world. My heart, thoughts and prayers, go out to his family and friends at this very sad time.
One of those rare people embodying / radiating human compassion, charity and intellect, not to mention integrity. Not to take away from the man and the legacy, but watching him now he seems like a man from another universe from the one in which we find ourselves currently, which is about as severe an indictment on the state of our country, news and body politic, as it is recognition of the good someone like george contributes to the world and those who knew him.
Rest in Peace, dear George, a wonderful man and a top rate Presenter!
His calming voice even in the most dire situations always gave hope. God bless George a true gentleman.
So sorry to hear the loss of George Alagiah.
A true Gentleman who's persona shone through and made a lasting impression to many ordinary people's lives.
He will be sadly missed.
Sincerely Condolences to his Family and friends.
May God bless you all.🌹🙏🙏🌹
Rest in paradise George

did you pay his wages for the years?defundthebbc clown
Always enjoyed the news when George read it, just to look at his face you knew he was a kind man.
The BBC needs to rename the newsroom after his name. He was just a remarkable human being. RIP
This is very sad news and I will always remember him reporting from Rwanda during the genocide. Sending much sympathy to his wife, sons, other family, friends and colleagues. Rest well Mr Alagiah 🌷🌷🌷

One of the greats, we grew up with this BBC anchor. He was a part of our lives. Deepest sympathies to his wife, sons and family.
Started watching BBC News though PBS in the states several years ago before getting the news channel. Love watching George Alagiah delivers the news with strength and intelligence and warmth. He will is missed.

Thank you for the memories, George! All of us viewers will never forget you! - RIP George Alagiah 😭🙏
He was a consummate professional and yet he emanated a humanity which so many journalists seem to be lacking. He was easy on the eye too which made the six o’clock news more digestible!
My sincere condolences to his family. I hope that the love and affection that so many had for him helps lessen their deep grief a tiny bit
My prayers for the family and friends. The words about him reminded me of the words spoken about my late brother--a kind, generous man, professional, calm, dedicated, a true man of the people. Inspirations in bravery, even as they battled cancer.
His legacy will forever inspire future journalists, and his contributions to journalism will be remembered fondly. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Rest in peace, George Alagiah.
R.I.P. George, your warmth and kindness will be missed.
I didn't know any of this. I only remember him as a newsreader.
He sounds like he was a remarkable man and a great loss to his friends and family, to the random people whose lives he entered, to journalism and the BBC.
This is the point where you say 'rest in peace', but I get the sense that even in death, he's not going to stop just yet.
You truely will be missed, George. I remember his news pieces from the late 80's (when I moved to London for uni) until 1999 when I left the UK. He is on the same level as the great US news anchors - such as Walter Cronkite, Tim Russert, Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings, among so many more. RIP, George - your memory will still live on.
Sincere condolences to the family 😢
He was my favourite news reader, my condolences to his wife Frances and their sons. I've missed him since he had to leave last year, he will be greatly missed 😢❤
