    Wow. Thank you very much, because all of these aspects have been problems for me in the switch from tennis, especially the backswings and serve and volley.

    As always Kyle....great stuff. Especially hit home with me was the cut volley issue and the kitchen violations that come with that motion that your guests well described. A piece of advice that i received which really help me transition from tennis to pickelball was to take the top of pickleball paddle and place it against your abdomen with handle facing outward . Any subsequent shot you make whether it be a drive, 3rd shot drop or dink should start with your paddle face in front of that outward facing handle. This really helped me address those "bad" tennis habits. Swing and follow through became shorter, I wasn't crushing the ball and spin is made so much easier .

    Thanks, I have no tennis background but play with people that are new to pickleball coming from tennis. I get many questions on the difference between the two games. This helps.

    Great video! I watched three PB games last night of 3.0 players and they did so many more tennis moves vs PB. Perfect timing for this video. I have a group of 30 players that will be getting this video sent to them today!

    This is a really cool video. As someone starting in the spring, but also having a very extensive tennis background it was cool to see the differences broken down and explained. But also cool to hear from a competitive tennis players viewpoint to how pickleball differs was very cool. Not that I don’t understand other perspectives. But hearing the perspective of someone who played tennis at a very high level as I did, I can relate and visualize the nuances from experience and why it’d give tennis players issues in pickleball. Great video!

    Maybe not directly related to tennis player switching but if you go to the hands battle at around 10:30 and play at half speed you will see something interesting. They hit one shot down and away from the player. The rest were pretty much hit straight at the opposing paddle. This is how they are able to get them back, they have to only minimally move their paddle to get it back. With the height of those balls they ought to be able to put the ball down, and maybe with less velocity and panache but much more effectively. If you can train yourself to not be afraid and to put every speed up down instead of directly back at the paddle from whence it came you will win more of these “battles “

    Now do racquetball. You don't have a net so you try to hit the ball one inch off the floor, you use your wrist, you hit it off the walls and ceiling and you stand in the same space as your opponent, Lots to unlearn. I guess Daniel De La Rosa figured them both out🤣. Love your channel!

    In pickleball can you take a few steps before you make contact with the ball on your serve? Or do you have to be in a set stance?

    • @cwarner5909
      @cwarner5909 Před 8 měsíci

      Yes, as long as your feet are within the rules at the moment contact is made with the ball.
      4.A.4. The moment the ball is served:
      4.A.4.a. At least one foot must be on the playing surface behind the baseline.
      4.A.4.b. Neither of the server’s feet may touch the court on or inside the baseline.
      4.A.4.c. Neither of the server’s feet may touch the playing surface outside the imaginary extension of the sideline or centerline

    One thing about when they stay back and hammer from the baseline. If you apply standard strategy and try to keep them back there you are feeding the beast, they want to be back there ripping balls. Better to bunt their drives short and get them to the kitchen where you know they are toast. This is a great strategy for the player facing bangers of all kinds, kill them with kindness.

    There really is a need for tennis transition to pickleball classes along the lines of what is presented here. The problem is that most tennis players look at pickleball as an inferior game and figure they start out as superior players from the start, so no need for stupid classes or drills or training. It then becomes tedious for established players to show them and depending on their level of stubbornness get them to learn the game.
