    Great video, Kyle! Here is my two cents: I feel like the lob is a great shot when done right, but it is hard to execute. If you don’t get it deep enough, high enough, or in the right spot it’s going to get killed. Start practicing your lobs people!

  • @michaelfuhr5466
    @michaelfuhr5466 Před 5 měsíci

    Good video, but it would be nice if you had added how to defend the offensive lob. For example, would it be better to try to take it out of the air or let it bounce to give you more time and options for a return shot (drive, drop or a defensive lob).

    I was thinking the opposite as well?If my opponents are very tall?Make them bend down by hitting low?Making them bend takes energy and can be difficult if done repeatedly.

    At 4:03 into the video, you lobbed but Spencer stepped into the kitchen before going back to try and return the lob.. Is that step into the kitchen allowed?? Thanks.

    • @jkeiffer
      @jkeiffer Před 10 měsíci +1

      This would have been called a foot fault in a tournament. It is not allowed unless the foot that faulted re-established itself on the court before contacting the ball, which in this case appears not to have happened. Good eye for noticing that. Wanted to add that this happens when the player is trying to hit the ball on the fly mostly. If the player has to run to the back of the court to take it off the bounce, then obviously their feet would have both been re-established in the court. Hope that helps.

      I just re watched that clip. I actually can't tell if his left foot came down before he made contact with the ball.
      If it did not, yes fault.
      If he re - established both feet back behind the kitchen line before making contact, no fault.

      @jkeiffer Před 10 měsíci

      @@thatpickleballguy Totally agree. Watching it again myself, maybe it does look like his left foot lands on the ground, but can't tell when ball contact was made.
