Everyone is different and so it makes sense that no two people should follow the exact same training regime. But more than simply writing your own training program - or adapting one you like - why not go even further and create your own training style?
We see this in martial arts: of course Bruce Lee famously created his own style "Jeet Kune Do." The same thing can apply to any kind of training.
Perhaps you like powerlifting but wish there was a bit more cardio and rotational strength.
Maybe you like calisthenics but would like to add a bit more size with some bodybuilding-influence!
Maybe you want to be a bodybuilder who can planche.
Maybe you just hate squatting and would rather do something with kettlebells.
With your own goals, tastes, and proportions, you will ultimately be best served by a training style totally unique to you. In this video, I discuss the best ways to go about creating your own hybrid training style by mixing and matching your favourite parts of other programs and modalities.

I have been doing something similar to this for the past couple weeks by hybridizing powerlifting, calisthenics, kettlebells and judo training. Best thing I have done is let go of the need to always be stronger in the main 3 lifts and since then I am the most well-rounded in terms of athleticism I have ever been.

nice. I learned a LOT from doing all the stuff I normallly do just super relaxed. sometimes very slow, sometimes at an "elastic" pace. it changes the exercise and, going back to the formal move, seems to bring better efficiency and balance.
it's not about showing strength it's about developing it.
once I though that was same
Now I see it sorta as opposite.

One of my favorite things about your training style is you have absolutely no problem adapting to new situations. I think most fitness influencers would head straight to somewhere thats familiar to train, especially for a video. But not you. You understand that going to new places and giving your brain new stimuli helps with neuroplasticity which helps with basically anything a human might want to do to improve their mental and physical self.

Hey Bioneer. Just wanted to share this. I purchased your SFT:2 training program a while back, and honestly never got around to starting it. Due to life issues, I fell off the wagon and really lost a lot of ground I'd gained in the past couple of years. I even sort of forgot about your channel. Until today, when I have been really struggling to get back into shape, and rediscovered the program. This morning was my first attempt at Leg day.....and wow. I'm feeling muscles I didn't know I had. It was fun, varied, and I really enjoy the gauntlet style of exercise over traditional power sets and pyramids. I'm actually excited to keep this thing going. I may have been on some of the simplest exercises for most of the sets, but it gives me a lot of room for improvement.
TLDR: Thank you for your inspiring attitude, your hard work, and your creative approach. Looking forward to going back and catching up on your content I've missed.

    As always a great video.
What you describe here is exactly what I've done and am still doing. I used to be a low-level competitive swimmer and was handed a training routine built around supporting that specific sport. Nowadays, I still swim frequently, but my fitness goals have changed, and I now prefer aiming for a more general preparedness approach. So I took that old routine and started swapping exercises out and took it in a more strength-based direction (to build a strong foundation), later switching some of the heavy lifts for more explosive movements. In the future, my routine will most likely change one or more times again, as I start moving more into body awareness and agility and add parkour to my activities.

I've been working out for roughly 1,5 years now and as I developed more specific goals after achieving a certain baseline (what I mean is I was severly overweight and after that was sorted out I started to be able to do certain things or look a specific way) I begun to focus on achieving said goals. I've always done calesthenic and I decided I want to work on being able to do muscle ups so I started working on that, once I can do that I'll keep incorporating that into my routine but I'll focus more on handstandpushups for example. Always keeping like a generic overall workout routine of pushups, squads etc. while improving on certain skills on top of that. That really works for me

Hybrid training is something I'm trying to move towards (currently incorporating core, ankle and wrist stability work into bodybuilding training), but I'm glad that you mentioned that you have to make compromises. There's so many muscle groups to focus on that my workouts start to drag on, even with low volumes for each body part and shortened rest periods, and almost all of them use grip where I'm suffering from overuse.
Although bodybuilding tends to promote training all areas of the body to promote balance, there's probably nothing wrong with strategically focusing on certain areas at a time.

Hope you don't mind giving a bit of your thoughts on this. So summed up tomorrow (Friday) will be full body workout with more explosive and metabolic type. Followed by MMA training. Tuesday will be more of corrective and those exercises that I need for smaller muscle groups. Now I'm trying to find a way to train every single day so far I have Tai Chi and stretching exercises in the middle. I'm trying to be an all rounder so it's a bit hard. Bison.
It's the perfect workout tool. You want to get stronger lift the bison. Cardio? Run away from the bison.
Strongman style lifting, run *carrying* the bison.MMA. Fight the bison (Don't worry, it's animal friendly. You're incapable of hurting him.) Agility training; play tag with thee bison. Get a cape.
      2023 man.
      Get you a 🦬.

I have been approaching my life and martial arts training in this way for long time. over 3 decades now.
a lot of this is really the material you would encounter in grad school for sport science.
mixing martial arts is a weak suit of asian arts, historically. they tend to keep them seperate.
I would HIGHLY recommend 3 books for anyone who is serious about becoming their own martial artist, and individual in general.
Supertraining, by Mel Siff and Yuri V Verkhoshansky
this is a serious book on state of art russian training methods. they knew a lot about how to mix things up to good effect.
Flow, the psychology of optimal experience. I won't butcher his name.
great book. training in a flow state can teach you in ways impossible in normal state. same with performance.
also a nice gateway between western stuff and some of the asian meditation/esoteric martial arts stuff.
Let every breath by vladmir vasiliev.
a deep understanding of how to practically use relaxation, spontaneity and natural movement in combat and in training.
on some level, this is the search for the art in martial arts.
how it can benefit our lives
how we can develop and maintain state of physical vitality and capacity.
how to perform at a high level in chosen pursuits, or in naturally occuring situations (oh shit situations!)
for me, a part of it, at 53, is being able to really practice realistically and also completely safely. training-injuries+recovery=development
I think with right training we can develop as martial artists and humans late late into life.
im excited to be exploring this way
im also excited to hear others thinking about this.
    rock on!

Legit this is my philosophy of training. Why stick to one modality when you can combine multiple and get the best of all of them?

I think once you get into and beyond the intermediate level, you have to train somewhat instinctively and not just follow someone else's program, as good as it may be.
