I think GamePass needs to change. Idk 100% how it works, but I assume that you can get as many games as you want, and that's just terrible. Limiting people to either 10 total free games is a better option. If they want to remove a boring game from the list and add another game, they can't play the one they removed unless they buy it. Or just give them unlimited games, but instead of making them free, simply reduce the price by 25%. Thoughts?

Here’s their REAL answer: “Tango wanted to make a sequel to Hi-Fi Rush (a Single Player game) and we didn’t want that. We want only Online Multiplayer games and since they won’t make what we want, we decided to close them down.”

Yep around the late 2000’s it started when they started to sell cut content as dlc than in the early 2010’s we saw it on full blast with micro transactions and unfinished games being released, games as a service with season passes and now wokeness.

By Microsoft's admission Starfield missed expectations and is likely to have lost WAY more than Hi-Fi Rush, which "only" costed 20 million dollars (and gained a second wind with a successful PlayStation release last month)

Unfortunately the only way that will happen is if Microsoft as a whole struggles hard. Shareholders can actually vote out CEOs if they’re doing a bad job, which is currently what’s happening with Xbox leadership. Xbox isn’t a big enough part of Microsoft’s business for shareholders to care.

My guess is a big part of why Tango in particular got shuttered is because Shinji Mikami left last year. I wouldn't be surprised if Shinji wasn't particularly happy when Zenimax sold to Microsoft and sought an available exit.

@@mitchjames9350 While Jim Ryan certainly made mistakes, he deserves credit for PS5's strong start this generation with a slew of solid launch and early titles, (the Demon's Souls remake and R&C: Rift Apart come to mind).
In contrast, Spencer launched the Series X/S without a single launch title, (unless you want to include The Medium which hardly anyone remembers, let alone played.) Looking back, he should have been sacked then itself...

I can no longer defend being an xbox fan anymore. They buy devs making us all think we are going to start getting some good first party games. The first really great first party game we get from these studio buys and they close the studio down. I really wish xbox the best of luck but they can now do it without my money in their pockets.

Nintendo won't die because they have the Japanese market behind them. Do you think the Corporate Raiders at Microsoft are beholden to Xbox? They would gut the entire division and keep the logo to slap on whatever they manage to produce. There's an Xbox vision and a Microsoft vision and Microsoft is driving the car right now. Sarah Bond didn't give a good logical answer because there is no good logical answer. They closed Tango because there was financial incentive to do so.

Mark my words, Xbox is done. Gamepass is no longer growing and console sales have slowed. There's no room for growth. They manage go seal themselves in a room.

Xbox console sales have flatlined, Game Pass growth has slowed & won't get the numbers Microsoft wants to reach, and every misstep they make damages their reputation further to the point that gamers won't take the risk on them. New hardware is in the pipeline (rumoured handheld etc.) but given their bad position who will buy it? I think they may not make another generation, they'll go the way of Sega & be 3rd party publisher by the next generation in 2026/2027.

Let's also remember that even though Sega released a great console, the Dreamcast, a lot of people didn't buy it because they didn't trust Sega anymore. Sony earned their trust with the PlayStation, so people waited for the PS2. What's happening now is Microsoft is losing a lot of trust. I see even long-time Xbox fans walking away now and saying they'll never buy another Xbox console. My guess is the next gen hardware will be a gaming PC and past Xbox games will be playable through emulation. The hardware will sell at a higher, gaming PC price, and all Xbox games will be multiplatform.
I don't think they are done and I am even willing to bet their next big project will be handheld. I think this will be their focus, they will go the Nintendo Switch route. We'll see how this comment has aged in the future.
Neither is PSN both PSN and Xbox Live accounts have stagnated. But gamepass forced Sony to come up with their equivalent so don’t go overboard about gamepass.

To be honest Bond and Spencer have no say, we know them but it kinda seems like Microsoft is now in control since the acquisition of ABK. I am not saying that they should not be held accountable but Xbox probably has no control.

Yea I just got done talking to someone else about how weird and fucked up gaming is right now because of these very bad decisions these companies are making. Sony's not in the clear with some of the choices they've made recently. Nintendo, to me, just doesn't care about their fans at all, and Xbox can't get out of their own way. there's so many great games out right now, but all you hear is mass layoff and gaming companies getting shutdown. Gaming just looks really bad right now.

This has to do with the excessive hiring that happened during covid and maybe the whole freedom to what they want mantra that Spencer repeated, at least on xbox. This is one of the issues of working for someone else, experienced it at a company I used to work at..they hired 500+ people and in less than 2 months only a handful of that group remained due to not meeting the expected sales as a whole..it sucks but it's the way companies work

I think the reason for the split is personnel/culture related. That's the only thing that makes sense. For some reason, there was an unreconcilable disagreement.
